Is there some kind of link on how GameSpot comes up with the score of a game? I mean with sites like IGN and GT, they have scores for graphics, gameplay, etc. and it adds up to the overall score. How do GS pick the score? Sometimes they can praise a game in the reviews but gives it a lower score, and sometimes they do the vice versa.
Anyway I hope they remake that AvP arcade game later on and Rebellion shouldn't be part of that.
[QUOTE="TreyoftheDead"]I didn't play it before the full game, though I have played it since. The demo shows the game at its best, I would say.Kevin, did you play the demo before playing the full game for review? If yes, was your experience with it just as mediocre?
Kevin-V
Ha, I thought that was the case.
That being so, would you recommend a buy if you loved the demo? Personally, I'm buying the game off of Steam as soon as it is up no matter what, but I'm curious to know if you'd recommend picking the game up to someone who enjoyed the demo.
 I was going to pick this up tomorrow but forget that. Thanks for saving me money Kevin always appreciated. The second AvP is like my favorite game of all time or at least right up there. I am really mad at Sega and Rebellion for messing up this game. So much wasted potential and now I will have to wait another nine or ten years for another attempt. Arrrrg
Is Alien: Colonial Marines vaporware? It was announced years ago but nothing has surfaced since (I think).
[QUOTE="Kan0nF0dder"]Hm, I think you hit the nail on the head. I have watched all of Alien(s) films, and the first Predator. I haven't seen the Predator 2 though, did anyone here like it?Ah, such a shame. Aliens should still be a cool brand but they're killing it, Predator was never as classy, but it was still pretty awesome. Damn. :(

Seen all of the Alien films and two of the Predator films. By the way, is there a support group for people who actually sat through all of Alien: Resurection?
[QUOTE="Kevin-V"] AVP is a lot of things, but "polished" it is not--not by a long shot. What are Mass Effect 2's glaring technical issues in your eyes? I've played the game twice now, and while I have encountered a few bugs, I think most people would agree that it is a super-polished game. See my previous post about bugs and other oddities I encountered in AVP. It's easier to forgive a long, broad and complex game like ME2 for a few glitches; it's a bit harder to forgive a six-hour-long game like AVP. VandalvideoI've been told by a lot of people that I must be really unlucky when it comes to video games, but I've been subject to tons of bugs while playing games this generation. In Mass Effect 2, I will admit that they fixed the texture pop ins, but I have had far more additional problems to worry about over ME1 than they fixed. For instance: A few times my game has froze while transitioning into a story cut scene. All of a sudden the screen will turn absolutely black and the 360 controls will pop up on my screen while the music keeps playing. This one is especially disconcerting because I'm playing the PC version. :| I've had a significant number of no-clipping issues. Remember that one mission where you're escorting that robot and feeding it power cells so it can blow stuff up? The robot felt the need to volleyball me into the ceiling and I got stuck (for some odd reason unable to pause the game). It has happened quite a few times. A few times over the course of the game I've had that weird Dragon Age/Oblivion glitch where the head vanishes and all you see are disembodied eyes. The sound on the game likes to act up sometimes when I'm doing those routine scans of planets. That noise telling you "hey, stuff is here" gets stuck even when I'm removing myself from the planet. So I have that awful ticking noise playing in my headphones the entire time. The game also likes to freeze occasionally at a Mass Relay or when I'm refueling. I've also repeatedly kept dieing after completing a mission and transitioning to drop ship. All of a sudden it does the bleed out effect and demand I restart the mission I just completed. I got caught on one mission for a good five hours due to this glitch. Those are just some of the more notable problems I've had with Mass Effect 2. It has been awhile since I played and a few of the other problems have receded into the back of my mind, but at the end of they day they generally left me with a really unpleasant experience.
Must be the 360 version or a pirated copy you have, cuz ive played the pc version and not had any of those issues. Only issue i had was my character got stuck one time, tahts it. No crashes, no slowdowns,etc..
OMGWTF? 5.5, that's awful. How could they have made this game so poorly?
Didn't IGN UK have an 8.5???
No, Gearbox is working on it. This has been confirmed. No idea what kind of release date we should expect, though... pretty sure they are focusing on DLC for Borderlands. If it's like Brothers in Arms with colonial marines fighting aliens, I will be a happy camper. Is Alien: Colonial Marines vaporware? Oh come on Kevin, I mean, ripping out a guy's spine, how frickin' awesome is that? xD It's quite hella awesome... I even say so in the review! But imagine you are eating oatmeal for an hour, plain, no sugar or anything. Then, you get to have a bite of chocolate. The chocolate is awesome, but the oatmeal is still just oatmeal. So many shooters are nice, five-course meals with a nice flow. You know, an appetizer, maybe a salad and soup, a main course, dessert and coffee, maybe a nice glass of port at the end. This one is oatmeal, with occasional bites of chocolate.[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"][QUOTE="Kevin-V"] No... I'd say it deserves a nice, solid 5.5 ;)Kevin-V

IMO, it was better than Alien 3. I blame Sigourney Weaver though, if she had any conscience she wouldn't have done the sequels to Aliens. Why does James Cameron keep allowing crappy directors to ruin his great work? It's not as if he needs the money. No, Gearbox is working on it. This has been confirmed. Then again, the AVP developers have been sinking tonnes into advertisments for the game just so they can make a profit and hopefully stay in buissness, I actually saw an advert for it in the cinema when I went to see The Wolfman (They are paying me to mention it in my posts, i'm still not giving it a good score though :p) The only other time I have seen someone pay out that much for cinema advertisment was Gears 2. But still, in this economy you can't really blame someone for taking money to give a game a good score, luckily GS still has it's integrity... Unlike Kevin Costner... The ****

U.S.A or United Kingdom, nowhere else though, for as we all know there is no world outside of those two countries. And as everyone knows it's easy to tell which country someone is from by how they type.
well i cant say much, but the demo sucked, however, after playing the full game (which i have) i actually do enjoy it alot. Guess im with IGN for this one.

That's weird.
In all the time I've played ME2 (360 version btw) the only glitch I've come across was when my character somehow got himself stuck in the geometry...twice. :?

Rebellion... are these the people making that are supposedly making Star Wars Battle Front 3? If so, this does not bode well for one of my favorite series.
Most other sites are giving it 7 or 8 out of of ten. Is there something only Gamespot can see?

If you liked the demo, you might want to consider AVP for its multiplayer. It depends on how much value you want for your money. AVP was made for GameFly. @Vandalvideo -- You poor guy. I am having major issues with Bioshock 2, though it looks like those issues are rather widespread. I finally managed to get about 20 minutes in before a crash yesterday; previously, I couldn't get past the opening splash to the game menu. I know the woes of PC gaming. With ME2, though, I played on my home machine and work machine both, and was shocked at how smoothly the game ran (almost always at 60 FPS at highest settings) and how bug-free it was. You need a can of Raid! Can it logically be explained why this game had AA hype from some people? It never looked good from the start...
If that's all you heard, you must have not been paying much attention to the hundreds of words around the control mentions, or read the review to read a more thorough explanation. It is not as if I drone on and one about that one thing--far from it.All I heard while seeing the review was that the controls suck. After playing the MP I have to disagree. I am going by Metacritic here (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/aliensvspredator), so I might be missing something, but what are all these other publications? I read the review and I dont get the part where you count that all you need to do as a marine to kille an alien is bash them then shoot them on the ground to kill them. How is that a negitive? Its like saying mw2 all you need to do is shoot the terroriest to kill him and count that as a negitive. The aliens controls if its like anything in the MP I will find no problems in the SP. I knew the predator was going to be linier from what iv heard in some reviews and that doesint bug me. Like the whole not being abel to jump a barb wire fence thing doesint bother me either. Iv seen similer examples of games this gen and last that show an obvious route, but the devs say to go another way. I heard from other reviews that the marine sp doesint get boring futher down the line. I guess it depends on the person playing since reviews are opinions after all.

That's exactly how I feel. I guess ideas vs ingame implementation is a lot different.
If GameSpot gave it 55% then it cannot possibly get above 80% on Metacritic or GameRankings. I am taking this game off my watchlist on GamesTracker.com.Hexagon_777
