Playing old games will be cool again!! Alright!!!

Lol yeah I bet...

Rumor or not, the latter specs doesn't seem that powerful. I mean like a significant boost in power. It seems there may be (likely) a PS5 Pro in 5 years from now. I guess pricing has a lot to do with it, which I could accept.

(Despite having a Pro, love it dearly, but I'm honestly not a fan of these mid-ben upgrades).

I don't agree with this, PS5 sounds like a significant boost over the base PS4 and PS4 Pro. Here's why:

  • 12 Tflops is a huge boost over the PS4 and even the PS4 Pro which are both rated at 1.84Tflops and 12 Tflops respectively. Couple that with the fact it's a newer architecture and the boost is even more significant. 12 Tflops puts it at GTX 1080Ti territory (even though AMD and Nvidia GPUs don't match in pound for pound when it comes to Tflop rating).
  • With 16GB of GDDR6 RAM that's a good boost from the 8 GB GDDR5 found in PS4 and PS4 Pro. Faster RAM and more of it is always a significant boost.
  • The AMD Ryzen CPU of the PS5 will utterly demolish the weakass Jaguars CPUs found in the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Even though I think these rumored specs are fake because the 1TB SSD mentioned doesn't sound realistic, I still think they are a significant boost over the current consoles we have now.

I see your point.

But what do you think about next gen, do you think we'll have mid-gen upgrades like this gen?

I don't think we'll see mid-gen refreshes. I think the reason we had them this gen is that MS and Sony wanted to cater to the newly available 4KTV market and Sony was also looking into VR. We are going to be gaming for a long time in 4K since anything above that takes too much processing power. I don't think the unique opportunities this gen presented that allowed the PS4 Pro and XB1X to exist will be around next gen. Also the fact that none of these mid-gen refreshes were particularly successful means that the chances of Sony and MS revisiting this concept next gen with a "PS5 Pro" and "XB2X" are slim.

SSD out of the box would be pointless, too expensive. I call BS. Most console gamers probably don't even know the difference, and I don't think any console makers would make the mistake of pushing the worth of SSD over better performance out of cpu/gpu just nope. If a customer wants to swap out, or add an SSD Sony has always allowed that- but they know better than to sacrifice specs for one.

The 32 gb of GDDr6 ram is a dead give away that's a dev kit.

Only an idiot would think Sony would be able to release their retail version of their console with that amount of ram.

I'm just being logical on this here.

There are a lot of idiots here.

@blackhairedhero: Right now, they are around 4 times the price of regular HDD. I bought a 500gb SSD for $80 for my Pro and it's worth every penny... Particularly on any game that loads awhile(monster Hunter, HZD, etc)

Not sure how many people would be willing to buy a 600 dollar console . If you pick up an extra controller , couple of new games, PS Plus one year, that easily gets to 800+ territory. At that point why not just build a PC? or upgrade your current one if you have one.

One thing that changes everything is backwards compatibility. If its actually bc with most ps4 games then people might be wiling to pay a bit of a premium like 499 instead of 399. But 599 is ridiculous for a home console , a lot of their more casual market wont touch that price point with a 10 foot pole.

personally id buy a 700 dollar ps5 if it had total backwards compatibility with any playstation game ever (Ps1,Ps2,Ps3,Ps4,Ps5) .

I dont think sony gives af about backwards compatibility though, especially with how well the Ps4 did, its just an unnecessary cost.

i doubt theres going to be too many great exclusives in the first year or two of the console, Ps3 and ps4 were notoriously slow starters

especially in year 1, **** all those remasters and enhanced editions, so many of the games you could just pick up for Ps3 anyway.

about 2 or 3 years into the lifecycle. for the Ps4 the perfect time to buy it would either of been mid 2015 when the Witcher 3 and Mortal Kombat was out , or in 2017 with Persona 5 and Horizon getting released and GoW 1 year later. So about 1.5 or 2.5 years into the gen.

Thats assuming you have a PC or the previous gen console. If you have nothing then sure, buy a console early.

PS5 will be dead in the water without backwards compatability. It's going to be a big deal moving forward. Glad it seems like they will include it. It's the one good thing MS did this generation.

Emulation costs money and resources too, that's why PS2 emulation was removed from the PS3. They had to have people focused on adapting the emulator to every PS2 game. I always had glitches with Xenosaga for example and they were never fixed.

Mid range Vega 24 already has 64 ROPS, hence NAVI version may have 128 ROPS.

Vega 64's 13 TFLOPS is bottleneck'ed by 64 ROPS (read/write path) at 1.5Ghz vs GTX 1080 Ti's 88 ROPS at 1.6 to 1.8Ghz.

Based on crypto compute, both AMD and NVIDIA TFLOPS (via TMU read/write path) are similar.

AMD ROPS has separate color and alpha ROPS, but there's a bottleneck with color ROPS i.e. alpha ROPS are fine with tile cache render e.g. Forza 6/7 wet scenes.

Nice I hope this is true. It would suck for PS5 to play the worst version of most video games again.

P.S. You seem like a big fan of graphics, performance, and hardware, surely you play most yearly releases (aka multiplats) from 2013-2018 on PC right? Just wanna be sure. Cause you can't possibly be this enamored with hardware and have been stuck on shit version of most games for 6 years. That sounds like torture.

The worst version is on Xbox One. Stop spreading misinformation.

You think you ever had a "point"?

Talk about delusional.

Making things up in your head and trying to project them other to others doesn't count as reasonable arguments for here anything buddy.

Here's how it works out.

1. I post a SOURCE of a "traceable" leak from a known gaming cast about PS5 development.

2. You proceed to speculate make up YOUR OWN self made tin foil hat arguments about *me* because of news of PS5 is continuing to come out and makes you insecure about the Xbox One X you blew $500 on.

That's it.

So, this isn't about me, it's really about you lol. I didn't even buy the Pro because I'm not an idiot and the next time I drop a couple hundred for a gaming system it's going to be for a true upgrade and not something I'm going to have buyers remorse over...like you appear to be having about your X.

@Shewgenja: And still my point still stands. ?

"The One X have OP desiring the PS5 as soon as possible."

Your response make it even more true. The frustration is getting the best of you.

lol the fact that you think the One X has ANYTHING to do with me posting news of PS5's development is proof that knowing the PS5 is closing in on release has your purchase of the One X push you in a defensive remorseful state of mind.

It's ok Pedro, I didn't make this news about PS5 up nor can I make the PS5 not come out...it's not my fault these things are happening, I promise :)

System Wars is video games news central, don't shoot the messenger because you can't handle what's reported.

So, I am remorseful because the PS5 is going to be released no sooner than 2020. That's your argument?

What's funny is...that's actually NOT my argument!

I actually didn't have an "argument" in this thread.

I posted this recent PS5 news which hadn't been posted yet (didn't mention xbox at all) and YOU flew off the deep end LMAO.

I'm only responding to you now because you threw yourself out there exposing any PS5 news makes you have insecure and delusional fantasies about others thinking about your xbox One X purchase.

I couldn't care less about the X or the Pro to be honest. I'm only interested in generational upgrades.

I'm not the one who threw Xbox One X into this discussion, YOU did! For some odd reason you tie PS5 news and your Xbox One X together. I didn't mention the X or anything xbox related in my OP so the only conclusion I can come to is that PS5 news makes you mentally traumatized and causes you to lash out the posters regarding the One X you wasted money on *LOL*.

I could be wrong...but then again, lol why dose the Xbox One X have anything to do with this PS5 news again? LMAO.
