All over for the 360, the PS3 slim is here

We will see, for all we know this could do nothing to significantly close the gaps espicially with the 360 price cuts also coming.

Posting because this thread will be epic and I want to follow it through "my posting history"

It won't be over for 360, but it is a great step for Sony.

If the PS3 does overtake the Xbox360 then this maybe a very interesting console war this generation, if the PS3 fails to overtake the Xbox360 with all it's faults Cows will have to pretty much eat humble pie for a very long time aince the price is the major contributing factor.

I actually expect the PS3 to only outsell the 360 by a few thousand units in NPD september. But NPD is only America. World wide I would be shocked ifthe PS3 outsold the 360 by anything less then 100k.

Actually I expect FF13 to move a million PS3's in Japan alone this year.

the PS3 will flourish with the new PS3 slim and price cut. with GT5, GOW3 that are also system sellers, the ps3 wont be stopped. the 360 and PS3 will really go head to head for the second position no doubt

Honestly with games like Mass effect 2 and alan wake next year. 360 might edge it out for me next year. The 360 will be fine

If the slim will save the PS3 why didnt they initially make them? Instead of waiting a couple years and consistently holding 3rd place. Just a thought

It's not a question of what "if" its a question of when MS will drop the price.

Ms has stated before on quite a few occasions that they would cut the prices too if Sony did.

I'm just finding it funny that some Cows are celebrating prematurely thinking that this would change anything.

It hasn't been released yet and we don't even know it's first months sales performance.

Though I will be getting a PS3 slim if it has BC, NPD for the month of September will be interesting.

My money though is the PS3 "family" will still be in last place.

If the rumored price ($299) and features (120GB HD, BackCompat, slimline profile) wind up being accurate, then I see a PS3 in my future.

Why not lose money on every hardware Microsoft are in a better financial situation to weather it then Sony. MS has done it before and they can do it again.

How come it took Sony so long to do this when Microsoft have been doing for so long now. Once again they said they will drop the price in response and it could also include the Arcade if that is the most important SKU.

Anyway is this what Cows are pinning there hopes on it to turn the tide this generation?

Odd last i checked the only rumor talked about is price cut, slim, the fat being out of production has yet to be talked about on this forum.

and exactly how does geting rid of the pro indicate any thing towards price dropping the arcade and elite? except that they are likely going to PRICE DROP the elite so that its the same price as the pro...so why have a pro if the elite is all ready the same price..

Natal is next years big push for Microsoft regarding new SKUS.

We still have to wait what MS'a official response to this year's price drop of the PS3.

This PS3 price drop is not enough to close the gap especially with MS anticipated answer to the price drop.

Yup. None of us are directly affected by them. Unless you own stock in one of comepting companies that is. And also as long as the system you own sells enough to warrant support for it, which is the case for all systems this gen.

Because... Sony hasn't lowered their price yet?... It was called "rumor" for some reason, :? They could lower the price at the same time when Sony lowered theirs for real you know... make some extra mark-up profit during the last few month is better than cutting the price. Use common sense man

Evidence is from Nintendo, they've always got the ability to lower the price (they confirmed Wii making $50 profit at launch per console) yet after so many price drop from both Sony and MS, they never felt the need to drop it, so by your logic... is Nintendo lying~:roll:
