I thought the general consus on this board was that the PS3 was better than the 360 only when coupled with a gaming PC. So does this mean that the new slim PS3 will be better than the 360 on its own or does it still need to be coupled with a gaming PC?ArchaoN

The Wii managed to beat the 360, if alot of ppl started to buy the ps3 because of this price drop and Microsoft price drop doesnt work then Sony might have a chance for get the second place and if Nintendo continues to be stubborn and dont lower the price of the Wii then perhaps Sony can take the first place. I only hope Nintendo see what Sony and Microsoft are doing for lower the Wii price. It would be hilarious and annoying for the big N fans that they got the first place and just because they are stubborn they lose that place.Miroku32

nah... 2 1/2 years in and nintendo has sold as much as the competition combined.... there isnt anything that will knock nintendo off

also, as long as they sell more than the competition, nintendo will be hesitant in lowering the price of the Wii

Can someone please tell me what a slim version exactly does for the PS3 line? I mean frankly PS3 has been around a similar price to that of the 360 for a while now and that has not really helped it any as far as the console race goes. So dropping it the same price as what the 360 will be at is going to sell more because.....

Sorry, how will the PS3 slim announcement make PS3 any better? Will it in a sudden receive dozens of new games and a boost in graphics? Its still the same console which (game wise) lacks in lots of things :?

I agree with the TC. If sony plays there cards right they can take over this gen quickly! A PS3 Slim at $299? It can't get any better than that! You get Blu-Ray Wireless internet and all. Free on-line? you couldn't ask for more espcially after seeing the 3.0 update preview! PS3 Rocks!! Microsoft needs to bow down to its master!!!!

This is great for gamers. I have a 360 and I loving it. This should force MS to lower the price of their HD if they want to compete. I can now get a blu ray player. I was planning on getting a PS3 for myself next year, I already bought my son one, but I may have to get one this Christmas for myself. I'll probably still buy most of my mulitplatform games on the 360 because Live is so much better. But I do want to play some of the PS3 exclusive like Heavy Rain and MAG. This is a blow to fanboys everywhere. There is no excuse not to have both a 360 & PS3.

You guys saying the ps3 slim is ugly amuses me , 360 is horrendous next to the fat ps3 yet I haven't seen any complaint over it , anyway who the **** looks to their consoles while playing instead of their tv's?

Wasnt PS3 supposed to overtake 360 when it launched? Or was it Heavenly Sword that was supposed to save PS3, or was is Killzone 2? Ratchet and Clank?, or was it MGS4? Or was it the first couple of price drops? Oh well, I guess we'll let the Sony sheeple keep on goin with their predictions...
