Alone In The Dark gets a 3.5 on IGN

4.5 Presentation
The story and dialogue are goofy, and both are delivered awkwardly. A DVD-esque menu system is good for skipping around, but otherwise it's pretty useless when there's little worth watching.

6.0 Graphics
Central Park looks adequately spooky at times, and the game runs smoothly. But most character models, enemies and environments lack personality.

6.5 Sound
The soundtrack is catchy, creepy and atmospheric. But the voice acting is cringe-worthy.

3.0 Gameplay
Glitchy, buggy, frustrating, boring and repetitive. The few truly interesting puzzles don't balance out the annoying inventory system, controls and combat.

3.0 Lasting Appeal
You probably won't want to finish this game, let alone play it more than once. Since everything is open from the very beginning, there's nothing to go back and unlock.

the only saving grace this game has is that the 360 sales will dwarf the ps3 version sales cause the PS3 version comes out this fall, when nobody would want to play it anymore.

I'm getting it regardless of the score, I want to try it my self, but this is really a bummer, I had high hopes for this, I was expecting this to be a great survival horror game. :cry:club-sandwich

Getting a 7.0 from IGN UK and getting a 3.5 from IGN US. Something isn't right. Also, EuroGamer gave it a 7.0, which I would put more trust in. I think IGN US obviously failed with this review. Sure, it's not a great game, but their review was far out there.BioShockOwnz

A 7.0 should be a "good" game, not a mess that is "worth" playing, a 6.0 is a mess worth playing.

Also, I thought 20 minutes ago people were screaming that IGN overrates everything?

Weren't the lemmings/sheep claiming ownage about how the PS3 version was delayed? Hopefully the garbage reviews will continue to roll in and they'll just cancel that version altogether.

The wii version is pretty different, maybe it'll score higher, since control problems are a key problem in that review, and the wii's version has completely different controls...or maybe it'll be a disaster, like SvR 2008 Wii.

Why don't you go and actually read the review?

They gave it a 7 on the strength of its innovations in an era where every game is derivative of the other. The reason it didn't get any higher is because it has a lot of problems.
