Am I the only one who thinks Mass Effect looks really boring?

I'm not judging the quality but the style. If you want a shooter then Mass Effect was never going to be the game for you. If you want an RPG then it probably will be the type of game you would enjoy. Bioware also has one of the best records in gaming but I won't argue the point.

I played both Bioware and Sqauresoft games, and think Bioware RPGs were better Baldur's Gate 2 is one of my fave RPGs of all time. Right now I think Square Enix isn't on the same level as Sqauresoft, they still make great JRPGs but not as good. Right now I think NIS is alot better than SquareEnix.

That's so not true.

My favourite RPGs are from Japanese developers. Example, I love the majority of the final fantasy games, my favourite RPG is Final Fantasy tactics, I love SRPGs be it Tactics, Ogre Tactics, Kartia, Disgaea.. You name it, I've probably played it.

I also ****ing love Vagrant Story, find it to be one of Square's best. My favourite RPG last generation was Dark Chronicle or Dark Cloud 2.

But the thing with me is, simply because I don't consider Bioware to be the best I do acknowledge them to be the best to other people and they've provided enough great games to be recognized among the best.

I can still think ME looks boring while doing so.

It has almost nothing in common with NWN or BG. It's a successor to KOTOR, if anything.

I loved BG and NWN but wasn't that big on KOTOR. Fun to watch my friends play, but I didn't dig playing it myself so much.

I agree. It does look slow, but it is an RPG, it has RPG elements. Just because its not a super fast paced shooter doesnt mean it will be boring. And we havent seen that much gameplay yet (outside of dialouge).

Actually you kinda are being one.. Uncharted is a shooter with PoP-like elements.. All the vids I've seen on it have been shooting.. With occasional exploring. Ratchet & Clank isn't a Shooter perse but it is a shooting focused game. Take away all those crazy guns and what do you have? a boring game. And Killzone.. I swear I don't know why people hype this but it is a shooter no doubt. Infact... If you look at the PS3's lineup most of the good games are of the shooter variety.. Am I wrong?

I know it's RPG, I know. My bad on that. But the way it's marketed, does it not look as though they're putting a greater emphasis on the shooting element than the role-playing?

Tomb raider was boring as sht to me.. There was entirely too much exploring and not enough engaging combat. The later games focused more on combat machanics but I still found it to be alittle stale. Most recent game was ok though..(I played the demo and enjoyed it)

But back to the topic at hand.. Drake fortune maybe more Tomb raider esque than I'm giving it credit for but most of the vids I've seen have been him in shooting matches with Thugs/Pirates.
