American Publisher Confirms NX More Powerful Than PS4/X1

Nintendo already confirmed they will NOT be making an expensive console.

They also confirmed they refuse to lose money on hardware.

Nintendo has a history of being cheap and lazy.

Nintendo has a history of lying about the amazing power of their consoles before launch. The wii u being the most recent example. You can go to youtube and watch Reggie boast about wii u's HD graphics and how powerful it is and it will attract 3rd parties...... LOL

Nintendo already confirmed NX will be backwards compatible with wii u....which means it will be gimped to do that.

Logic says that if gamers refuse to spend $250+ on a nintendo console NOW, then making a more expensive nintendo console is an even dumber idea. Nintendo has the reputation of being a cheap kiddy toy company and consumers want value. The only way Nintendo is going to convince people to buy their terrible console is to sell it cheap at the $149-$199 range.

Anyone who actually believes nintendo is making a powerful console is in for a rude awakening. I expect the NX to have 3GB RAM at most including the OS and BC with wii u.

Well you should care because it's the only way Nintendo can keep making consoles. If this turns out to be another WiiU, I can safely say they are fucked. Being the most powerful will be the best for marketing, and actual game performance too so it's something I'm actually really hoping for.

There's way too much of this ''I don't care how shit the console is as long as I get their games'' from Nintendo fanboys. It's like they are keeping them down. It's weird as **** to me.

Slap on the price for an included handheld. The Wii U gamepad already costs about $150 to replace, which basically stops me from getting mine repaired. But yeah, people here really believe that and "hope they keep the price low". Lulz.

i doubt this. They lose any amount of credibility when they say the nx cpu outperforms intel 400 dollar skylake. not a chance in hell. knowing nintendo, the NX will probably be about the same power as the xbox 360.

... This isn't exactly hard.. The PS4 currently is outdone by a considerable margin by a entry level pc with a 750ti and i3..

There's just no way in hell the NX (or any other console from now on) will have a top of the line CPU, because you can't have one of those and also have a beefy gpu in a console sized box anymore. Look at the Wii U, and the new HD twins, the gpu's in all 3 are much bigger than the CPU and that size ratio will stay the same.

So I could maaaybe believe it has a top of the line gpu (if it uses a 14/16nm process) but the cpu part of this rumor makes it fake. But I do hope they use cartridges really badly, for a lot of reasons. That'll keep costs of the unit down, games would be more durable and load instantly so there'd be no need for an HDD either which'd keep costs down. Cartridges are just the superior format.

Pretty much. Whilst people on here like to say graphics don't matter (and to me they don't), a lot of people like to play games with great graphics. Releasing a console that doesn't have the option to have such games, or even play most multiplat games is essentially suicide at this point.

Not a really a big surprise considering the PS4 and X1 are 2 years old now and they entered the planning stages 3-4 years ago. Still waiting on official specs from Nintendo.

But reading how people discuss graphics here, if a game isn't breaking new ground it looks meh. I'm thankful I'm not into pettiness like that but many cry like nothing looks good.

Of course it goes both ways here. There are also many members who seem to only care about the graphics, which is pretty stupid in my opinion. As far as I'm concerned nearly every game these days looks pretty good.

I personally think MS has done the most....because they had to compensate for their bad start. I also think Xbox One is in better hands now than back then.

I heard rumor that the NX is more powerful then the PS4 and Xbox One put together. Most would be shocked at such a rumor, but let us not forget how truly weak those two systems are. Heck, the Wii U is not far from them, its embarrassing.

@misterpmedia: Exactly. It should be expected that a 9th gen system to be more powerful than the 8th gen systems. Even the Wii U is a bit more powerful than the PS3 and 360.

I don't see why this would be a surprise the PS4 is based on a mid/low Spring 2012 GPU,the NX will arrive what 2016 soonest.?

So if the GPU is 2014 mid/low or mid it will have no problem what so ever beating the PS4,hell i say they can do it for $400 next year and will lose little if anything.

Now if the aim for something high than mid they will truly surprise me but is not the first time nintendo makes a powerful console the Snes was,the N64 hthe GC as well,were very capable of its gen.

1 - Nintendo could make a PS4 level console for cheap.

2 - Nintendo would lose no money making a PS4 level console for $299

3 - Nintendo does not have a history of being cheap and lazy. Where are you getting that? Just because they don't take a loss on consoles at launch like the competition doesn't make them lazy. They also haven't had the hardware failures the other 2 have. How is that lazy?

4 - How did Reggie lie about the power of the Wii U? Most of it was PR speak and the Wii U had great 3rd party support for the 1st year it was out. The Wii U got Mass Effect, Madden, Assassins Creed etc. It wasn't until the PS4 and Xbox One were on the horizon that 3rd parties pulled back.

5 - How does backwards compatibility gimp a console? That makes no sense. Was the launch PS3 gimped compared to the later models? Is the Xbox One weaker now that it was at launch?

6 - You must not have been alive during the Wii era. You know, when everyone including your Grandparents bought a Wii. The Wii U is a flop. Nintendo has come back from flops in the past and who is to say they can't do it again?

7 - How does the amount of RAM = power? Let me guess, you bought in to the 8GB of GDDR5 hype? The GPU is the most important part of a powerful console. The GPU in the PS4 is the reason it's the most powerful console. Not the amount of RAM it has.


The PS4 and Xbox One were both a change of pace in the console race. Console makers have had a history of taking large losses on consoles sold and making those losses up selling games. With the PS4 and Xbox One, both companies came out of the gate making money but that gave us weaker consoles as a result. Luckily for Nintendo, they can make an equivalent to these 2 year consoles even cheaper in an attempt to win back some 3rd party support.

@Big_Red_Button: correct games are what makes systems great, these devs overhyped the Wii U and the 3DS as well. The new Nintendo System will only have pretty 1st party games. The 3rd Parties will never return. This is Nintendo folks.....seriously.

Agreed. I started playing in the late 1970s on a Pong console. When you have that long in gaming your perspective is different. Everything is amazing to me. I never could have imagined gaming being what it is now, back then.

Wii beat PS3 by a wide, wide margin, in terms of sales.

PS4 hasn't won yet. Last generation PS3 was getting absolutely wrecked for the first three years by 360 and then it pulled ahead.
