The playstation brand is not the problem. The smartphone and home theater arms are the issue. Sony has their fingers in too many pies and not all of them are winners. MS is funding the xbox on windows money.

Well, I don't think it is likely myself, but using PS2 as the comparison misses some important bits. Nintendo was still doing fair in the pre-PS2 era, and had a power advantage in the PS2 era. Likewise MS was basically in full on get your foot in the door mod with a much stronger console. This time around Nintendo is really hurting, despite a good showing in the previous gen, their current gen offering is on full life support, and even their handheld isn't as commanding as it used to be. MS likewise has a lot of internal rumbling of discontent with the Xbox division, and that means at the least they don't have the leverage of power of money they once did (especially as I suspect buying MC has pretty much blown their wad for the near future). Still a long shoot, but is a different situation.

On topic: Yea no. If Sony couldnt do it with the PS2, its not gonna happen with the PS4. The X1 still looks to be a moderate success, so Id be surprised if they increased their market share over the ps2.

Given at how large the industry has become, one company completely dominating is impossible. There are way too many types of gamers for one company to satisfy them all. Just look at Nintendo and the 3DS- how in fucks sake is Sony gonna take over that considering they don't know what the **** to do with the Vita? Just because the PS4 is doing well doesn't mean they have any idea on how to handle EVERYTHING.

I don't see anyone showing their allegance to the PSP GO. The only failed consoles are the ones that got removed from retail shelves in less then a year.

The PS3 has crashed in terms of monthly sales in the US and to a lesser extent in the rest of the world. The PS4 is eating into that consoles sales right now.The console is also to expensive to sell well in developing countries and sony doesn't care enough about the console to cut it's price drastically. When I say it will probably get above 90 million I mean it will sell anywere from 90million-95 million.The PS3 may even end up below 90 million before it's discontinued.

Who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony shuttered most of its ventures and went gaming only. Sony as a company is struggling badly financially. The playstation division is doing well, but the rest is not. I think Microsoft will keep slowly building this generation. Worst is behind them. Obviously, its Microsoft, so I'll probably end up eating those words when they **** up again. Nintendo should get out of home consoles and go third party/handheld only.

Most proven? in terms of financial success? With in the gaming sector maybe. I'm honestly not sure. As a company though they are doing rather poorly.

I would be fine with this. Microsoft are pieces of s*** who use pathetic business tactics, and Nintendo make terrible hardware. Give me Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, Halo, etc on the PS4.

If u look at last gen, the main reason customers bought wii was because it was the cheapest. currently can get a wii u for $274 was it that bundle. Price will only continue to go down increasing unit sales.

M$ = will force the XB brand on gamers even if it means selling it at a loss for the foreseeable future.

Nintendo = will continue to make consoles, but the direction may change... again.

They have sold very well against their competitors over the years in the console market. This is about how they "Might" take over in that market. It's not about any other part of their company. Read the title again.

Horse shit.. You don't need to "beat the competition" to some how make it in the industry.. XboxOne for instance has sold 60% more units than the 360 did in it's same time period.. Nintendo is holding their own as well as dominating the handheld market..
