nope, that goes to shogun 2. it is the best technically and great artistically.

i... don't know what to make of this. :| especially "night shift looks average at best".[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="Peredith"]
Kaffarof, A Rock And a Hard Place (barely looks better than Bad Company 2), Fear No Evil and Night Shift look average at best. And the character models look like crap.
Peredith
As opposed to games like Crysis 2, Witcher 2, Shogun 2, it looks worse. Looks like COD but with eye meltingly bright lens flares. (is Night Shift the mission where you have to plant claymores and protect AlBasheer?)
that's a small segment of it, yes. i personally loved all the sniping in the rain and the effect of the rain in the lighting. another great mission to admire the game's visuals is the co-op mission where you go sniping (drop'em like liquid).[QUOTE="theuncharted34"]after playing the demo, i can relate to this. that game is jawdroppingly beautiful. but i think TC (and everyone else) are going for the technical side of things. It goes to...
Rayman Origins.

Yeah i'm definitely going to get the game this year. From what i've seen it looks better (in every area) than any game this year. I have a soft spot for Rayman :P Rayman 2 was amazing.
And well the title just says best looking game, if he had said most technical I would've posted another game.

it's system wars, people want FACTS, and art-based games don't count. if they did... SKYWARD SWORD GRAPHIX KING.[QUOTE="Peredith"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"] i... don't know what to make of this. :| especially "night shift looks average at best".BrunoBRS

TW2 would be king if you judged tech and art. Skyward Sword for art while BF3 would definitely be tech.

Must've played the crap version/consoles then.

I just posted Rayman because *technically* the title says nothing about graphics. So I just went with it.
BTW, I think the art of Skyward sword is great too but some of the characters are just flat out ugly. Like Fabulous Debbie. D:
:P

the moment you start judging art, tech becomes irrelevant, because half of the discussion becomes purely subjective, meaning one side can compensate another. and people seem to underestimate the power needed to have sprites that high-res, moving that smoothly.Nope, PC ultra settings (HD6970). It looks good, but not OMG good. Even Rage impressed me more.
Peredith
Hahahaha no, and I'm a big RAGE fan.

So...you need like a calculator to run those right? :P
^^^ Looks like any other game. Nothing special. Unless I'm missing something? :?
Peredith
Surely if you have a PC you could take your own shot of the game instead of posting someone else's blown-up shot.

replying it for the lulz: sprites are like compilations of HD textures. each frame is one texture. so to have a sprite that smooth, with that many frames to make such a smooth animation, is quite a feat.Yes sometimes Battlefield 3 looks jawdropping, but at times it looks meh. I think Rage is far more consistant. Rage is very underraged visually. One time I took 20 minutes trying to find repeated textures but couldn't :o. The textures might be low res up close, but stand back (quite a bit :P), and the amount of detail Rage includes in a single screen beats any game imo. I think BF3 graphics are waaay overrated, :)
-edit- Try find a repeating texture in that Rage Subway pic. I can't. :P
I agree, the Witcher 2 does look better. But it isn't "leaps above" or "miles ahead". They are pretty close.
I love the Witcher 2, for me it was the most impressive game visually. But i think BF3 takes the technical graphics still. If i had to choose campaign between those games it would be TW2, but i love BF3 multiplayer.

I think Rage looks beautiful, and just like you, I understand the game is to be taken as a whole, and not scrutinized for the smallest details. That's not the problem, however. I also noticed that in that Skyrim thread, you bashed Skyrim for looking bad at the smallest level, when that game, like Rage, is suppose to be taken as a whole, but even more so.
Now I understand the shortcomings of Battlefield 3's graphics in the way you've stated, in the same manner I understand the issues you had talked about with Skyrim. Instead of being measured criticism though, it looks really hokey by blowing it out of proportion and making a scene of it. It's as if you're twisting the argument to fit your agenda. Anyone can see that Battlefield 3 looks insanely good, no matter what shortcuts it took here and there (this is coming from a person who personally dislikes Battlefield 3).
I only bring this up coz I use to do the exact same thing back in the day lol.
100% agree, Witcher 2 on xbox 360 will be graphics king by miles
Also some of the best art on consoles too indeed

Too bad it'll look like ass in comparison to the PC version.
Technically Crysis 2 has better graphics than BF3.-Unreal-
Yep. Those tessellated covers that look exactly the same non-tessellated are so superior. At least it uses POM even though it isn't a DX11 feature :P

Looks like Call of Duty with more/better post-processing tbh.
EDIT: or upgraded Bad Company 2 if you will.
Rage is nowhere near consistent, much less consistent than BF3. There are times where Rage looks absolutely abysmal, and in general the only time Rage does look good is if you are looking at something far away, once you get close to anything it looks like crap.Yes sometimes Battlefield 3 looks jawdropping, but at times it looks meh. BC2 looks far worse, lol:GS will likely give the award to BF3 due to the hype, but I better see nominations for The Witcher 2 and Shogun 2 when it comes time for graphics awards.
NeonNinja
Metro 2033 and Stalker COP didnt even get nominated last year for graphics...
