I don't know if you're joking or not. :lol:Man I can't wait for Sony to catch Anonymous, and trust me, they WILL catch him, it's only a matter of time. Better yet why doesn't just Sony hire Geohotz to catch Anonymous and Sony will give him a little break.

[QUOTE="TheGuardian03"]Not gonna happen, who are Sony to tell the consumer what to do ? just STFU and get a life.theuncharted34
Fixed that for you :)
the consumer has the right to do whatever they want with what they paid for, sure. as long as it doesn't hurt others in the process, which geohot releasing the keys caused. And that's all there is to it.
Gunpowder has probably taken countless lives by now. I'm pretty sure the inventor(s) are hailed as geniuses now. That's kind of analogous to what Geohot did. Also, if you haven't realized, I'm not being entirely serious, although this is where I stand on the issue. You people just take it way to seriously :D
ied be happy if they made them do a 3 year free extened warrenty on those faulty phat ps3s. they got till july to make that happen for me:) then my 3 years would be over:cry:

sony doing that would be as likely a chicken walking into kfc.

love that analogy.
Me too:lol:
i don't. chickens are dumb, they wouldn't be able to reason that KFC serves chicken as food and that it better run. KFC resaurants don't kill the chickens themselves either, soooo.....
[QUOTE="Blazerdt47"]I don't know if you're joking or not. :lol:If he loses he'll take any break he can get. They never tried to stop the modification of the ps3 until a hacker released a cracked version of their own firmware, thus making the modifications a security risk.
They haven't brought legal action against any people who possess the collected IPs. Apparently, the reason they asked to collect them in the first place was to show that the case should be heard in California.
Again, they are not bringing legal action to Hotz for altering a product he owns, they are bringing legal action against him for altering software they own and distributing it.
Of course they want 3 to happen. If sony starts suing the hell out of everyone in that IP address list, their Anonymous secret society will probably cease to exist overnight. :P
Hackers can do whatever they **** want to their consoles... but as soon as they do.. I don't want them allowed on PSN AT ALL! and no warranty. I will not risk my games being ruined so a bunch of nerds can modify **** on a gaming system.
somone else trying to black mail a company that brings in billions.....there lawyers are going to have a field daystereointegrityWell their lawyers will have fun waiting behind the Australian government, Church of Scientology, China, Bank of America, and a bunch or other places that have a personal bone to pick with Anonymous. While Anonymous undoubtedly won't get their demands and probably lose interest in a while, they aren't even in the faintest danger from Sony.
Bingo! JTag'ers on the 360 can play online with free month accounts for an hour before the account gets banned, and in that one hour all hell breaks loose on Live. Nerds and their abilities to p*ss off regular folk from the confinements of their couches/computer chairs :PHackers can do whatever they **** want to their consoles... but as soon as they do.. how anyone can support a hypocritical bunch of basement dwellers is beyond me.
its in the name of consumerz!!!!!! *attacks* PSN >> Consumer "WTF anon"
#3 is reasonable. But Sony shouldn't "give in" to anything. Give them something and they will only want more. The best thing for Sony to do is to operate as usual, free of what basement dwellers feel about their policies.

Not playstation consumers silly. Who cares about playstation, playstation games, PSN, etc? All that matters is that the small group of people that want to use their PS3s for Linux, as a media hub, etc.
Exactly. And I'm hating how these basement dwellers think that they are fighting for the rights of all consumers. Honestly, how here cares about hacking ps3's? All I care about is banning those losers from PSN so I can play my legit games in peace!#3 is reasonable. But Sony shouldn't "give in" to anything. Give them something and they will only want more. That's the part I've never understood, how it's for the consumer. By hacking it he's allowed the hackers to ruin certain games for other people, yet he's supposedly done all of this for us.sony doing that would be as likely a chicken walking into kfc.

Theres only one person to be blamed for removal of Other OS. And thats their precious Geohot. He is responsible for the removal of Other OS.

- Sony must end any attempts to bring legal action to alter a product they own.
Alpha-Male22
This one stands out to me. Really? Sony shouldn't be able to pursue legal action when people modify a product they own? Really? There other two are actually alot more reasonable.

From GS: The good news for PS3 owners is that it appears as if Anonymous will be backing off its hostilities. An update to the loose-knit organization's website claims it would no longer be directing its efforts at bringing down services such as the PlayStation Network. "Anonymous is not attacking the PSN at this time," the update reads. "Sony's official position is that the PSN is undergoing maintenance. We realize that targeting the PSN is not a good idea. We have therefore temporarily suspended our action, until a method is found that will not severely impact Sony customers." "Anonymous is on your side, standing up for your rights," the message continues. "We are not aiming to attack customers of Sony. This attack is aimed solely at Sony, and we will try our best to not affect the gamers, as this would defeat the purpose of our actions. If we did inconvenience users, please know that this was not our goal." The group went on to note that its campaign against Sony will continue "until we are satisfied with the outcome."I do think Anon's demands are too much though.
I bet half of them find it "Awesome" when they go to a store and buy booze without being ID'd.They used to be cute awhile back, now they're just annoying. I hope Sony just ignores the kids.
Twin-Blade
This was allowed by Sony before 3.21 so it's not like they are asking for the PS3 SDK to be made open source or anything.
They do own the system afterall, the problem is when you buy the PS3 you are agreeing to certain terms and one of those is that you won't circumvent the security which Geohotz has done although i think the court ruled that out so Sony is now trying to get Geo on the PSN accounts thing.
we all know Sony getting the IP addresses of people who visited numerous sites was extreme so again Anonymous asking for that to stop and the information to remain private is not too extreme
I guess their demands aren't too extreme and they're not exactly asking Sony to drop all court cases against those pesky hackers. So i am still supporting Sony for the fact Geo knew hackers would pour into the PSN and ruin my gaming experience after what he did yet he played ignorance and went public with nothing more than fame on his mind.
[QUOTE="Alpha-Male22"]tommyasWho the hell they think they are to command Sony what to do?! Do they have any legal background to it? No. Its all their opinion on the matter and that doesnt make it right. Actually they do have legal background for their demands but the "effective" way to do it is using the justice system which is pretty much what Geohot is doing.
Rofl'd. Hope sony finds (them) and sue them for life.sony doing that would be as likely a chicken walking into kfc.
theuncharted34
I hate overused analogies, but here you go:
Yes, we own the PS3. However Sony owns the network and you obtain a license to use it by agreeing to certain terms. I own my car, but the state owns the road, and I am licensed to drive on them agreeing to certain conditions. Heck, I can even mod my car, but some mods are not allowable by law for safety concerns. Sony's ToU not only protects them, but as we've seen from experience, also protect the average consumer's gaming experience. No reasonable consumer wants a hacker to have free reign on Sony's network.
So, as I see it, it's not Anon that's standing up for my rights, but rather Sony, who is trying to assure that all games function fairly and in the manner the developer intended. If I can't play securely on their network knowing that the rules are fair, then I'm not going to own the console. So, no, Anon is not doing this for me, but rather, they are doing it because they are self-righteous thugs who want to make a name for themselves.
Oh, and whatever happened to the idea that if you don't like what one company is doing, you can always go to their competition? Heck, if modding is your thing, why bother with consoles to begin with? Just play on the PC and leave the rest of us alone.
Ah, good to see that Anon's plans are still consistently amusing. They might truly be powerful if they actually stop to think things through.
Let's see:
Sony must allow for end-user modification of the PS3, as was available prior to the 3.21 firmware update.
Translation: Anon wants you to remove more of your security features.
What it would achieve:
Sony must end any attempts to bring legal action to alter a product they own.
Translation: Anon wants you to give up any control you have over your own products.
What it would achieve:
Sony must not pursue legal action against any collected IP address.
Translation: Please don't come after us.
What it would achieve:
Maybe I've missed things or over-generalised, but...it's sort of sad and hilarious that they actually expect Sony to respond to their blackmail.
If this was a legal agreement, it'd automatically be invalid for any number of reasons (duress, lack of consideration, etc). The fact that it's definitely not a legal document, and is in fact just the demands of a bunch of self-righteous...people (who, ironically, refuse to stand up for themselves as individuals), ensures that no matter the result, it will achieve absolutely nothing.

I guess this means they're going to spam Sony Exec's emails with porn until they get their way.
