Bungie introduces pay-to-win boosts for Destiny after they said they wouldn't

For weeks now, Destiny dataminers have been hacking away at the game's code, looking for anything of note. Although they've found plenty of tertiary things, they figured out one huge addition -- paid experience boosts. The notion was quickly denied by Bungie, who noted that it was "just an experiment" and that they had no intention of introducing pay-to-win elements like that into the game.
Until they do, of course.
As of today, astute Redditors have located the existence of "level packs," which have popped up on the UK PSN for a whopping £24.99 (!). There's one for each (!) class (Titan, Warlock, Hunter), and it comes bundled with a few extra items in addition to a level 25 instant boost (which was granted for Taken King collector's edition owners) and a subclass boost. This is quite the conundrum for Bungie. It probably wouldn't have even been that big of a deal if they hadn't promised they weren't going to be in, Overkill style.
The level 25 jump doesn't concern me much, it's the subclass boosts. Players who opt to pay will inherently have access to new abilities for PVP that another player otherwise wouldn't, unless they opt to grind. Gone are the days of "only" cosmetic microtransactions. The floodgates have been opened, and the water is expensive.
As if this game wasn't full of low-life addicted degenerates anyway...
