As quoted by sony devs

Reviews can't be written until the game is actually out. I mean, you can't pass pre-release judgment on a game whose major, industry-leading feature (256 players in a single battle) can't be tested until release day.

Since the game just came out 50 mins ago and it takes a while to unlock the features how can sites like thishave already passed judgment

(and how is there an ave user rating already)

Seriously. You would need, like, some sort of advanced review copy to review a game before it's released.

They are not credible because some how in a 2-3 week span Zipper interactive totally changed the graphical look, feel and gameplay of MAG they did so much thats its not even the same game.
Come on seriously if any one had played the game in Beta for long enough they could get a pretty good jist of what the final product would be, I expect full retail reviews of this game too match closely with the few early reviews we have.

You honestly are trying to justify reviewing a full game based off an older built beta. Im glad you arent reviewing. Even when you started up the MAG beta there was a screen informing you that it had minimum features, was based on older development and didnt offer the full experience given with the final game.

PPL look to reviews when considering to buy a game not the discontinued betas.

You know there is a reason the word "BETA" is used. And there is a thread today talking of all the gameplay and graphics tweaks (like improvement to framerate) that were made to MAG. And in the beta you can't unlock everything. Should we start rating all games based on the demo, to save time? I mean, there wont be significant improvements, and you get the general "jist" of what the game will be like.

No its not credible because the BETA has ended and so there is no one online and it is a beta which means its not finished, and im sure you will use the deffence "Its only in beta" when people criticize screens of the Halo Reach beta.

Well, Sony has put reviewers in a tough spot. It'll be interesting to see what major reviewers like EDGE, 1up, IGN, Gamespot, Eurogamer, etc. do in light of this.

Besides, they have more important things to do than wait on MAG... like review Mass Effect 2. :P

I kid, I kid.

i guess that makes sense. what with it being a multiplayer only game and all. no sp to test, so unless the review has 256 people, he wouldn't be able to see the whole game.

industry-leading feature...bahahah.

PC had a game with 50 percent more people on a map 7 years ago. That's an FPS alone, not the dozens of MMOs that already do it.

The beta was bad how ?

my main gripe was the controls, it had a heavy feel when aiming similar to killzone 2, but worse. Aside from that, the game play was so generic fps. I'm really skeptic about the retail version of MAG, I hope they do make the necessary tweaks. I want this game to be good as a ps3 owner myself but I don't think that's gonna happen.

I'm still waiting for reviews on this game (which I know may take a while to be up) to see how it does. Even then, I might have to rent it to see if I like it.

I really don'tread people hyping it for the 256 players in one game. I played the beta, only 64 players, and I liked the game design. I really don't care how many people are playing, becasue it is mostly two squadsvs two squads, I just like the game.

DarkLink77

Right. They have a vested interest in making those statements.

Sorry to say, most of the sales are made in the first month or so of release. After that, the game has to be really special to keep selling. So while the iron's hot, that's when the reviews come out.

If a game doesn't grab me in the first couple hours of play, I probably won't continue playing or recommend it to others. As a consumer, I shouldn't have to wait weeks or months for the community to build up before I have a good impression of a game.

The servers just came up. So if they did get the game early they couldn't do anything with it but stare at the title screen and adjust options.

You laugh now but when IGN and GameSpot review the game and it sounds like they are reviewing the Beta (i.e. look for the keywords "BORING" "TRIAL" "NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE PLAYING WELL" or "MAPS TOO BIG") you will change your tune. You MAG apologists are getting on my nerves. Just accept the fact that gameplay won't have changed drastically from Beta to final product. Content will have but when the core mechanic is so easy to be derailed, certainly there's very little reason to believe that the final product will somehow deliver a 9 when the beta was a solid 7.

Frankly I wouldn't necessarily disagree with that statement if it weren't for the fact that Reach is going to have a campaign mode and a story, unlike MAG. When a multiplayer-only game's in beta, save for graphics and weapons/maps, you can get a solid feel for the product.

Who cares, the lack of mics, the amount of TKers and the general generic feel of the game guarantees a low score.

Thats why Giantbomb is holding off for review, they posted a vid about this weeks reviews and they said they are holding off on reviewing MAG because its a game that relies on having as many players as possible, and they wouldnt have that untill the game is officially released.

I think I speak for most System Warriors when I say...

Who the *bleep* cares about MAG?

The only thing good about MAG is the commercial for it.

I got a good lol out of it.

I suggest you wait for BF BC2 instead.

All those new PS3 ads are win, light years better than the HORRIBLE 360 ones with that horrifically unfunny gal.

You should read IGN's review. They said they got a press copy with servers working so stop trying to defend the low/average scores it's getting

The game's been out for almost a whole day now right? Assuming one reviewer spent all day playing mass effect 2 and 1 poor soul, I mean reviewer, spent the day playing MAG, the latter should be able to come up with a reasonable conclusion of how well the game works by tomorrow. I mean it's just online, so either it works or it doesn't work, you don't have to play until any certain end or part of any story to form a conclusion.
