Anyone feel that this years GOTY will be between GTA and MGS4? [Poll]

They just seem like the two best upcoming contenders to me. Alot of you may think Brawl and Gears 2 will be the top contenders but Brawl released quite early and had flaws in its online play, and Gears 2 honestly doesnt seem like it will bring anything awe inspiring like the first did.

Lets face it MGS4 and GTA will be nothing short of epic. Especially MGS4 due to the fact it has been through 4 years of production, and has even been given a chance to be corrected by 12 different strangers to be made better. And with GTA, I don't think there will be any Xbox 360, PS3, or PC owner without it. (Unless they are just weird or something).

Of course there will be other contenders for the spot besides those four. I suppose they would be Too Human, LittleBigPlanet, Mario Kart, and Fable 2. FF13 if it releases this year.

A game will come out of nowhere like most years and take it,
remember KOTOR? No hype, it came out, was so good it's still hyped to this day,
Bioshock? Not nearly the hype that Halo was getting, and yet, better game, took many GOTY awards,
Total War? Still no hype, still won GOTY awards,
I truly think this year something that isn't getting the GOTY hype will take the GOTY.

MGS looks interesting, but gta seems to be more of a graphical upgrade really. There isnt a lot new to it.

If Spore works it would be a contender.

Warhammer is due also and is apparently looking good.

Thrones owns an x360, this is well known, he is *far* from a "cow", he is a multiplat owner, who praises the x360 quite often, as well as his other 2 systems. Seriously, barnyard terms are thrown around way too quick, all you needed to have done was look at his sig, where his 3 online codes are listed, it's not far fetched to beleive that an x360 owner isn't licking the wall because gears 2 is coming out.

You're insane if you really think stalker or ninja gaiden will be in the final 8. Brawl, MAYBE, but it'll be forgotten about very soon. Gears 2 I doubt will change much from Gears 1, but it'll still be in GOTY just because its Gears and im sure it'll be great, it definately wont win GOTY though. My 4 is the most logical imo, unless some random game shown at E3 blows everyone away for Fall 08'.

3. Stalker: Clear Sky

Only game mentioned there that won a GOTY was Metal Gear Solid 2.

You said they werent the GOTY type, but they were all nominated which was the point, which means they are the GOTY type.

Spore, GTA4, MGS4, Starcraft 2 (if out this year) and potentially Far Cry 2 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. I think that's pretty much it as far as the truly biggest contenders. They could literally all go down as six of the greatest games of all-time, especially the first four.

Don't think the likes of Gears 2, Resistance 2, Fable 2 and Killzone 2 stand a chance against that innovative, epic group. They're in the second tier.

I think the top contenders this year will be MGS4, Brawl, GTA4, GoW2, Resistance 2, Spore and LBP. But hey, who knows?

I disagree (Highly disagree on MGS1 since it only got an 8.5 here :|). In my MGS Fanboy opinion, it goes MGS1>MGS2>>>>MGS3. The only thing MGS3 did better than the other 2 was improve gameplay and the ending sequence. I was actually bored through the middle section of MGS3 since there was no story going on. Just running around.

Getting 9.5 and GOTY are two different things.

GTA4 definitely looks like a front runner, but there's no telling what surprise hit can be released in the second half of the year so I'll wait and see.

Getting 9.5 and GOTY are two different things.

I doubt it'll get GOTY. It shouldnt because it won in 06 and lets be serious - GTAIV, MGS4 are bringing their first games to this gen. But it'll be a great game and it'll add new stuff to the series. Just saying Chainsaw duels and new weapons is very ignorant because we have no idea what they are adding.
