Why did this get twisted to a AAA debate. I nor no one mentioned anything about AAA's here.

What you have shown is that the 360 has the best shooters over Wii and PS3. But most also accept the fact that the 360 has the most diverse game lineup over Wii and PS3.

Dur_Rocky

First, don't talk about other people "twisting" when you're the one who decided to "twist" my (so far, undisputed by you) argument against your claim that the Xbox 360 has the most variety out of any system (including the PC) into avoiding the debate at hand, only to attempt to use it to bash the PS3/Wii.

Second of all, measuring a system's genre diversity requires you to take a look at the exclusives library (meaning AAAE/AAE) and categorizing the games into several different genres. Getting more categories means more genre diversity. Obviously, this concept seems to have gone over your head.

Nah i sense to much hostility in you.

Translation: OMG I lozt da debatez, nowz I muzt provokez mah enemiez, bwaaah!

At the time of my most recent console purchase:

360 = $399

PS2 = $129

360 games = $60

PS2 games = $20

Both have great games, but one of those solutions is significantly easier to afford than the other.

Hmm? Because I dislike the exclusives that have draw for everyone else? A bit ago, i was planning on buying one. Then, Viva Pinata and Mass Effect came to PC, Banjo killed all hype by making it have vehichle based play, and so the only reasons i had left to buy it for were Dead Rising, Star Ocean 4, and Lost Odyssey. Now, Dead Rising is also going to the Wii. That leaves two games, and it's going to take more then that to get me to buy a system. And Even if it has been proclaimed "RPG king" by fanboyys, if it only has 6 RPGs, half of which are mediocre to bad, then I don't want anything to do with it.

Refusing to buy ANY console based on "loyalty" is just stupid. Games are fun, why not expand your options?

no. just no. there are several reasons not to buy a 360.

1. if you plan to use it more than 3 years, there is the RROD problem.

2. if you don't like shooters, then there is no point.

3. you don't like microsoft

4. you got screwed when microsoft ditched xbox1 after 4-5 years, and don't want to relive that experience.

I would also still say the PS2 has a superior library of games as well.

Sigh, it doesnt matter what system(s) you have, as long as you enjoy the games and play them, you dont need to reevaluate something. If you buy a system cuz some SW poster convinces you your a loser, thats when you need to reevaluate yourself

1. The RROD problem has been fixed for the most part in newer models. And well, if you're that worried, I'm pretty sure you can find a way to induce the RROD on your current system before the warranty expires to have it replaced with a newer model.

2. This is, by far, the biggest misconception people have about the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 is not the original Xbox and it currently has the widest variety of games from various genres than any of the other three consoles. If anything, with all of the big announcements Sony has been making, the PS3 is the new "shooter console" with many of it's biggest forthcoming exclusives being shooters (Resistance 2, Killzone 2, MAG, etc.)

3. Well I'll give you that one.

4. Microsoft has already stated that there will not be a new Xbox console until 2011 or 2012 and that they will continue to sell and make games for the Xbox 360 as long as it is profitable, much like Sony is doing for the PS2. That means a six to seven year lifespan and continued support down the line. Microsoft only killed the original Xbox because it had lost them 4 billion dollars and hadn't, in four years, seen a dime of profit.

The term "gamer" is purely subjective, and therefore meaningless in a thread like this.

I really hate this disgusting, arrogant attitude a lot of the Lemmings in here have when they say there are no valid reasons to not own a 360. I have one myself and it's a great console, but it has it's flaws.

Oh well I guess not wanting any but a select handful of the games on the 360 and having a different opinion to yours instantly means that I'm not allowed to partake in your ever so precious hobby is that right?

I mean really there is so many gamers out there because of blind loyalty that they are depriving themselves of some of the best gaming we have ever seen being done on Xbox 360.

Most will say ahh RROD as a cheap excuse to stay blind to a certain company weather it be Nintendo or Sony?

Lets look at things PS2 had a terrible history of the disk read error. And i and so many others went through 2 or 3 PS2's

Lets go back further look at the great NES i mean come on you had to blow on the dam cartridges to get the dam thing to work pretty much all the time.

So how is it now that we have so many blind fanboys who refuse to buy a 360? And yet call themselves gamers? Because it's no secret some of the best gaming this industry has ever seen is being done on the 360 right now. And in the foreseeable future looks to get even better.

Explain this blind loyalty that we see? And why you are gaming on a lower level then you could be if you just gave in to your desires and got a game machine that ranks up there with the best of them.

Dur_Rocky

I gave the 360 a shot for two years and traded it in for a PS3. I could not be happier. I also own a Wii and a PC. The only games on the 360 of any value are Gears (on pc), Mass Effect (way better on pc) and bioshock (going to be better on PS3).

First RROD is a fading problem. Using this as an excuse to ignore the best console this generation is jsut stupid. Second, if you don't like shooters... what do you like, because all genre's are now on 360. If you enjoy RPG's well the 360 is now the king of that genre. It has many puzzle games, 3rd person games, action drama and mystery games... Your second point is exactly what the TC is talking about, fanboy blindness. Third the first xbox was cut short, as admitted by Microsoft, due in large to the small userbase, and extra cost to manufacture it. they have also stated that they won't be cutting short the life of the 360. Even when the 720 comes out, the 360 will still be around with support. You are losing out on great exclusives that you could be playing, but your blind hatred for Microsoft is getting the best of you.

I bought the original xbox but refuse to buy a 360. I don't like flushing my hard earned money down the toilet. RROD is a seroius issue and if M$ can't fix it I'm not buying it. I don't care what games it has I have 2 other choices.

And as for the 3 year warrenty all M$ does is send you a refurbished system thats prone to break again.

I still have my Atari from 1984 and my NES, SNES, SEGA Genisis, Turbo Gfx, SEGA Saturn, N64, Play Station 1&2, and Gamecube. In 24 years I have not had one system fail me. Don't tell me I'm not a gamer. I'm 31 years old and play games every day.

I have to refuse to buy one for now since I just paid all my 360 funds to get myself and my wife scuba certified and bought a bunch of gear. So much money but so well worth it. I recommend diving to everyone here. Its amazing. Or you can play the ocean game for Wii and the onee comming out for PS3. Not nearly as fun though.(that kinda got off topic you think?)

When are people going to realize and accept that 360/PC are hand in hand. Like bread and butter. Like peanut butter and jelly. It's MS it's windows it's 360. They both play on the same playground get used to it. So seeing a 360 game go to PC or a PC game go to 360 is like all the same really.

It's Sony fans who should be upset becuase they are seeing great PC games go to 360 and great 360 games go to PC but neither are going to PS3. And Wii well just can't to under powered.

It's not so much that I refuse to buy a 360, rather it's that I'm still waiting for that one game that will make me really want the console. The 360 has plenty of critically acclaimed games but most of them have only lukewarm appeal for me and looking at the coming year the PS3's lineup is much more exciting. On top of that I really wouldn't pay for XBL since I don't really play online and the silver service seems a bit shoddy. RROD doesn't really scare me and I don't hate Microsoft (even though I sometimes disapprove of their tactics). Maybe if Microsoft lowers the price again on the 360 to $250 it would begin to make sense for me to get a 360 for the games that look like fun but aren't really amazing IMO(GeOW2, Fable 2).

i'm still laughing at the fact you said the 360 has as many good games as the ps2. i'm hoping i just read that wrong or something. The PS2 would have more AAA's in any given year than the 360 has had in its lifetime. And i'm not even knocking the 360. As of now it has the best library this current gen, but what is that really saying. This gen overall for games is more dissapointing than any other i can remember. Maybe that will change in the next few years.

ROFL, you made my day. Nothing is better than seeing pure fanboyism at their best. Especially at point 2. I see and hear nothing but shooters on the PS3. A la Haze, Killzone 2, Resistance 1 and 2, Uncharted.... ROFL

I enjoyed my 360 very much when I owned one, but it was just to unreliable for me. Games like Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon got lots of play time, but the thing broke down with the RROD twice on me, and broke down a third time with a disc drive failure. I'm a busy person, and a father of 2, so when I have a chance to relax and enjoy my only real hobby (videogames) i don't want to have to say "Well, damn, I can't play anything this month, the 360's in the shop."

I have a PS3 now, and overall I think its a better system. Its more flexible, i like the open access web browsing, and I've really enjoyed a few of the excusives like Uncharted and Folklore, and its also infinitely more reliable. I don't see any reason at all for me to buy a 360 again, being I enjoy the PS3, the libraries are 90% the same, and my wife would kill me if I got rid of the PS3, she's been buying up Blu-Ray movies. :(

:? Wuh what? 360 has the most diverse game libary out of all the systems even PC.

See, now you're just making stuff up.

How i mean yes PC has the RPG's and the shooters covered. But 360 pulls ahead with fighters / sports and / racers and now with some good platformers. Sure you can use a joypad on PC and download stuff from gamefly i guess. But it's not as good.

Your idiocy has no limits...

Errr no.

Sure it is a good console and I own one myself but could I make do without it...absolutely.

Rakushoujo

Why would you do that to yourself though. It's on the same level of greatness as the Nes and PS2 it has all the games and has all the support. And yes has all the hardware problems both those did. But yet so many still would not deprive themselfs of those. So why the 360?

Because with the Xbox 360 you know its going to break sooner or later, but comparing the blowing into the Nes cartrigies is stupid, I rather blow into the cartrige and know it works, than have to spend money to get it repaired.

Same for the DRE on the PS2, there was a home made fix to that, unlike the Xbox 360 where you have no choice but to spend money for repairs or get a uneeded 3 year warranty because once it runs out, what buy another one, how many Xbox 360s are you going to go through, before you realize its a bad system and shouldn't even be on the market for its defect it should be illegal to sell something that the company knows is going to break, no joke.

They shouldn't even have the RROD any more, the Xbox 360 been out since 2005, no excuse. Beside the Xbox 360 doesn't have any games I want, all the games I wanted I can't even get any more or are region locked and only availble in Japan(Galaxy Angel,Bistro Cupid, The Idolm@ster, The Idolm@ster Live For You!) and I refuse to buy original Japanese Xbox or Xbox 360 to play the games, just find another alternative/console to play import games on, because I know I'll be screwed if it breaks and unlike you I'm smart enough to know it will break and a waste of an investment.

I repair my PS2 in one day, and so easy to repair, and then never broke again. The p[roblem is just that you have to grasse the two tubes that soport the lens, that makes the lens move and read the game. the greasse that comes with the ps2 at some time or depending on the times you plays or hours daily, desintegrates and the lens stuck and can't read the game, you only ned to greasse again and problem solve. XBOX 360 problem is diferent it's broke pay to repair the console or buy one.

Look, ive tried to like the 360, but couldnt. Ive tried all the big games, Halo 3, Gears, Bioshock, etc... and it wasnt for me. Not to mention XBL sucks imo.

Ps3 has all the exclusives I want and need. Call me what you will.

But...the 360 has no games I want on it that I can't get for the PC (save for Dead Rising and Crackdown). And its always better on the PC.

I mean really there is so many gamers out there because of blind loyalty that they are depriving themselves of some of the best gaming we have ever seen being done on Xbox 360.

Dur_Rocky

If I thought that there were any exclusives worth playing on the 360, I'd probably have bought one by now.

As it is...the only one I can think of is Lost Odyssey, and I don't particularly like JRPGs.

Wait, so because I can't afford an Xbox 360, or have no interest in getting one, I'm doing it out of so-called blind loyalty?

aliblabla2007

That makes two of us, WHY CAN'T I BE A REAL GAMER!

Adonymous

no.... i dont need to explain why....just no

go ahead explain...

which console has the most RPG's?...

Compared to PS3, 360 has many more racers, fighters, platformers, action adventure, even a few Strategy games up its sleeve.

fighters same amount

action adventure about the same.

platform sony has them beat rachet and clank and lbp you have bonzo.

racing i think sony wins there motorstorm 1-2 gtp, ferriri game,f1 ect.

fps sony will have more you only have halo 3.

rpg is the only gene 360 has more of.

Let me try though I know up front I Fail since it's clear, even if MS gave away 360's for free - you would be one to refuse on principle.

That principle being: I won't buy ( of take for free ) a console without the name-plate saying Nintendo or Sony. :P

Kameo

PDZ

Condemned C.O.

Dead Rising

Crackdown

V.P. 1 & 2

Gears 1 & 2

Halo 3

Forza 2

M.E. 1,2 & 3

L.O.

Too Human

Banjo 1,2 & 3

Fable 2

Halo Wars

S.O.

FF13

I.U.

T.O.V.

Racing Pro

Forza 3

GTA4 E content

Fallout 3 E content

All the XBLA with spectacular additions plus on-line & off-line stuff a plenty.

Oh heck, this could go on & on but as I said - the console is just labeled wrong for your taste in gaming. :P

So how is it now that we have so many blind fanboys who refuse to buy a 360? And yet call themselves gamers? Because it's no secret some of the best gaming this industry has ever seen is being done on the 360 right now. And in the foreseeable future looks to get even better.

Dur_Rocky

And it's been done already for awhile on the PC. And the foreseeable future looks to get even better.

To OP:

First of all, do not try to compare DRE's to the RROD. You can fix DRE's yourself very easily (just annoying to do so).

Second of all, did you really mention blowing in cartridges? God forbid you have to use some of your air for a bit.

Third, you need to understand some people actually own PCs (mediocre ones work fine) therefore severely dropping the value of the 360. For me, it drops the value so low that there is no possible way I would even think about buying it unless it were about $150 (not happening).

Gonna say it anyway, I well NEVER purchase anything as faultly as a 360; its not worth paying 300-400$ for something that has a good chance of breaking.

purchases a PS3 has been one of my best decisions. i get loads of gaming out of it, plus watching blu-ray movies and internet browsing.

Huh? Refusing to buy a 360 automatically makes you not a gamer? What about those of us with financial concerns? Hell, I can say that I'm more gamer than many people with 360s. I've done things that back this up.
