Love what MS / Bungie have shown so far. What I can't wait to see is some of the game-play in the new levels - that a be the true test of this new Halo and me thinks Bungie will past the test with flying.... Colors, though a bit darker this time.:D

I saw the same thing. I know MS's tricks. Sure that's in game but do people realize that you can run a 360 game on a development platform other than a 360? Sure you're playing the game, on a computer with an advanced gpu and processor.

You're right, the 360's GPU is DX9 based. That doesn't mean that they can't get a few elements of DX10, and 11 working through software.

You guys don't understand that there no such thing as DX-based GPU... they simply just got features that DX use and as i heared, Xenon got prototype telessation feature

What's the difference? :lol: Dx9 based....supports dx9 features....Same thing, said differently.

while tesselation is highlighted as a DX11 features ATI have been trying to make it popular since DX8. (see TruForm) I know most of you probably didn't have gaming pc's back then but it was hyped a bit back then and it did make things look better. but it never caught on for whatever reason. it's possible that they are using something like truform for Reach since the 360 uses ATI as well.

Seriously though man DX11 is an awefully serious statement that should have never been said by any one with this current gen of consoles. It's all right though I'm sure the game will look mind blowing like UC2, but don't get your hopes up.

because reach is one of the very few games on 360 that has a custom engine, and the engine happens to use it. the vast majority of games on 360 use multiplat engines, and those engines cant use the feature if other platforms dont have it.

Also i dont remember 360 owners being tricked. At least nothing at the same level of the fake 2005 Killzone2´s CGI :P

I find this quite funny, too. People say it looks CGI, but others (including me) can't find anything so amazing about it. The character models look good and so does the lighting, but everything else is quite normal looking.

This is a load of crap. The 360 can't do above DX9. This is like saying that my parent's PC, which was made in 2005, and has a really cheap video card, can magically do DX11. It doesn't happen.

i agree. that's the thing about halo. people try to play up the graphics, but i don't think the halo franchise has ever really been about that. for me, its always been the gameplay.

360 CAN DO Tessellation, and stream-out, which are features in DX10/11, just obviously not on the same level. But keep in mind the 360 is a smaller scale than PC games because of resolution, and is a fixed platform.

id is saying how RAGE will be the best looking game across all consoles, but they are using a multiplat engine so I have my doubts. For 360 it will definetly be between Bungie, id, and Crytek. The latter two companies next games I will probably be getting for PC.

lol, listen to me for one last time. they trailor you saw last night didnt run on 360 hardare.

The game will be released in 2010. That was from the actual game, unlike other trailers in the past. The video was one of the opening cinematics and will be in the game exactly as it was shown yesterday. This has been confirmed by bungie several times.

Yeah, like the underground cavern place that is brought up in every Gears 2 V *insert game here* thread. The Unreal 3 engine is too muddy for my liking.

I can see more of an emphasis on squad gameplay. Maybe even 4 player co-op.

Certain parts of the RAGE trailer looked better than others, like the scenery pics in the beginning and the part with the giant mutant looked fantastic, everything in between looked good but not great. The character models/gun models in particular looked like plastic and as if they weren't apart of the scene. Definitely buying whatever Crytek puts out on PC though!

I keep forgetting that ME2 uses Unreal. It definitely is one of the better looking games to use it. Mirrors Edge, too.

Bioshock 1/2 also look nice, although they aren't using ME2's color palette. :P

All of this nonsense about the game using DX11 all comes from a blog post some guy made after attending GDC, wherein the game's technology was discussed. He reported on his blog that the game was using DX11, when he MEANT to say it was using Direct3d11 Tessellation, which was discussed at GDC regarding its use in console games such as Halo Reach by Matt Lee.

If Halo Reach is getting this crazy DX 11 tesselation **Unlocking the xbox360s true potential** crap, why cant I get that stuff on my beloved Mass Effect. Now I know mass effect 2 is a BEATIFUL looking game. on the line with Uncharted 2 (Idk why no one mentions this lol) but I dont think its doing anything CRAZY with like DX 11 or w/e its called.

Of course, that Halo Reach, man, that was looking good, I say this because Bungie has confirmed thats what in game will look like. When this was confirmed for me, pants were crapped. lol

you seriously believe that dx11 is possible on the Xbox 360? To run a game on very high on the PC you need a 400-500$ graphics card alone. Blu-ray>DVD9, PS3 CPU> Xbox 360 CPU, the only thing the 360 has is a better GPU than the PS3 but it makes up for it with its CPU.

Closely examining the video, I noticed there is too much AA for it to be considered "in game" graphics. I'd rather I stay neutral on this argument that rather get owned later for a uneducated opinion. I'll just keep it as an "I'm skeptical".JunkTrap
must be running at 420p to keep up because that is the same under-resolution trickery MW2 pulled.
