Apple is apparently preparing a major gaming related announcement this Friday. Now what could this be?

What exactly is this? Are we looking at an official Apple controller for the iPad? An Apple iOS based micro console, possibly based on the Apple TV design? A brand new Apple console, a real one? Are we looking at Apple securing a major exclusive?
So for Apple has mostly hurt the hobby I loved, and this is someone who was very much trying to support them from the moment I owned a second generation iPod touch.
I'm hoping whatever they bring to the table doesn't bring as much cancer to the console and PC side of things as it has for handhelds.
Angry Birds 2! iOS exclusive until the end of time! The sequel nobody asked for! :D
I kid :P An official controller seems most likely, but an actual console and/or an AppleTV with full gaming capabilities (which would also imply a controller) wouldn't be too surprising either.
@mmmwksil: As long as Nintendo was assured a degree of independence and insularity? **** yeah, it'd work out great.
@charizard1605: If you think windows is hard to use, then maybe you should step away from computers all together.
And what it is: Hardware that almost costs double of the PC counterparts.
But by all means enjoy being molested for a brand name.
A new apple console would be awful news. A dilution of the fans with a lot of casuals going over to apple for the image alone meaning the existing three are in a more precarious situation. So on comes an overpriced, solidly built but ultimately minimalistic and probably underpowered casual-focused console that the mass market will buy in to for the brand alone, leaving real gaming consoles supported by less people and more companies turning to new ways to charge us.
IOS is trash now. No quality control, all the games are now "free to play" (So in other words, fucking wallet leeches in most cases). They provide the platform, blood sucking companies take advantage of it, spineless sheep still buy the inferior games, and the rest of us are worse off because this shit sells.
Just no, Apple. Some things are better reliably simple. Not this.
@wolverine4262: Apple's awesome though.
They're awesome at making inferior everything
Apple TV that can play games from the app store I'd guess
That sounds reasonable. Not sure why they'd even try to inject themselves into any other demographic honestly.
@DocSanchez:
I have no fanboyism in these system-wars of ours, I like the games on all three, and I generally like the tech they provide us with, and I adore my PC for gaming.
If there is one company I cannot stand, it's Apple. I do not understand how people even buy their products at such a high cost. From my experience with people that I have encountered, they buy their products for the name alone. Majority of them don't know what a processor is.
Apples "innovations" and ventures into new markets make my spine hurt.
@wolverine4262: I never said Windows is hard. Windows 7 is my favorite OS ever. But Mac is great too, and there's too much bandwagon hate for everything apple.
I really hope it's not a legitimate gaming console. If that were the case I envision Apple opening up that titanic cheque book and gobbling up studios/IPs. Do. Not. Want.
@charizard1605: Nice status symbols. Piece of shit hardware/software.
sorry but you know nothing at all to call Apple hardware shit, the SoC's used in the latest iPhone's/iPads are some of the best mobile ARM SoC chips on the planet currently and are incredibly powerful and cutting edge and quite power efficient. The mergence of Apple software alongside with Apple Metal and now Swift is going to be nothing but huge gains, Swift programming is heavily on the rise which makes for more powerful iOS apps that are also faster and more efficient.
Apple TV with a controller basically? Maybe it'll be good if they price it right. PS TV was a huge flop.
Maybe they are making something akin to that enormous Lenova tablet--30(?) inches or so that could simulate all kinds of games.
Or maybe it is an official control.
The only reason I don't think it is a console would be that Apple doesn't ever seem to want to break its eco system. Their product lifespan is short if one is to be high end.
Apple version of steam box would be cool
a good OS, steam games, apple designed controller
would prolly even blow the ps4 outa the water and kill the xb1
