@charizard1605:
Could that AMD SOC that AMD talked about a while ago be a Apple Console SOC?
Exciting.... Call me interested. Unless it has Apple pricing..

If it has Apple pricing then it's going to do PS3 levels of bad at least in the beginning.
But Apple have more money than MS even so they could go all out on this. I kind of hope it is a new legit console. It probably won't do much this gen if so (like the OG Xbox), but the chances are in Gen 9, they might give Sony and MS a real fight. Imagine, they secure Bioware and Platinum games as their defacto first party. Might be a must have console in that case. Their clout is bigger than just about any company on earth right now, their egos will bring out this console, not their buisness sense. Their Iphone and Ipad lines crush console sales and revenue annualy, so it's not like they are relying on this.
Apple pricing seems not to affect them, though. Apple has duped people into some kind of cult. I own an ipad and it is a great device. I have the first version with the Retina display and still works like new, so I understand why people have a thing for them. However, it is hard not to cringe at the blind fanboys walking into an apple store or section at a bestbuy--80 dollars for a small bluetooth keyboard, 30 to 40 for an ac adaptor, etc etc etc. And the sad part here is that this enormous cult following won't question price because a major factor in their branding is image, and people want their little "apple nook" to look clean and consistent.
IF apple made a console it would generat Wii levels of hype in terms of non gamers.

But consoles aren't phones and tablets. Apple making their console even $500 would have the same effect it had on Xbox One vs PS4 at launch. Unless this thing had a go to gimmick, it won't even dream of doing Wii level of sales. Gaming market isn't as big as the phone market. Far from it.
I'm not necessarily talking wii sales. Wii was enormous because it sold to literally everybody--elderly, families, loyal nintendo customers, and even bars would purchase them for "wii bowling night". What I'm saying is that if they did unveil a game console of sort it would generate that level of hype, likely, just because of it coming from apple. And the gimmick is that it would be a new apple product that would work within their eco system--your phone and computer and tablet would communicate with it in some shape or form--phone/tablet as a second screen, wireless charge all your apple products, or whatever clever way apple would think of; it is something they excel at. Instead of Apple TV, think Apple Entertainment.

Yup, that would be my guess as well though unsure if that's a good or bad thing atm but TBH, I'd be pretty interested myself especially if Apple had Bioware in their hip pocket.
If Apple released a console for less than $300 with free online play, I'd at least be interested. They would have to put together some sort of first party, though. In reality, an Apple console would cost about $800, it's successor would come out 2 years later, and there would be no first party.
@PurpleMan5000:
>Apple
>Cheap
>"Free" stuff
Pick one bro >.>
I do think they would have free online play for their $800 console.
@PurpleMan5000: Not sure. There is a lot of money to be made with subscriptions. Sony and MS can tell you that much.
Every other apple product sees a new successor in 1-2 years, though. An annual subscription is kind of pointless under that model.
@PurpleMan5000:
It actually makes more sense. Tie the customers to the network, not the device. That way they can keep doing 1-2 year cycles and the customers keep coming back and spending money on the network. Likewise, the vast majority of XBL costumes from the 360 (which were some 25-35 million, I don't remember the exact number) will find their way onto the XB1 (sooner or later) simply due to the previous investment on the network.
Otherwise, on a 1-2 year cycle, if every new device implied a fresh start with nothing transitioning from the previous model (music, games, movies, apps, etc) the incentive to buy them would be significantly smaller.
(why does GS randomly decide to bold stuff? >.>)
Apple version of steam box would be cool
a good OS, steam games, apple designed controller
This is what I would want. Apple elegance and OS in a steam box, with a powerful graphics card and a nicely designed controller would be an insta-purchase.

It wouldn't have an OS that would be compatible with the vast majority of PC games, though.
The timing of this news is interesting, but I'm skeptical about an Apple hardware release, a. on a Friday, and b. without any sort of public event notifications.
Also note, Apple's patent drawings are intentionally awful. :P
I think the Friday announcement will just be the official announcement of the release date and prices for the Apple Watch.
Tim Cook already announced that the Apple Watch will ship in April.
It's more likely that Apple will have a special event in early April/late March featuring a couple items (software and hardware, like iOS and iPod Touch), the most important of which will be the iWatch. It's at that event that they'll show off all the features of the iWatch they still have under wraps, announce pricing, and announce pre-order and shipping/availability dates.
And that date will be on a Tuesday.
EDIT: It's also possible that we'll get an event of that sort featuring the iWatch and the new retina display-clad MacBook Air in late February sometime, signaling an early April release for the iWatch, but I'd be more inclined to think it'll be a late April release for the iWatch. It would be unusual for Apple to make people wait much longer than a week to begin ordering/purchasing a brand new product category.
Either way, it'll be on a Tuesday.

apple pricing has never stopped its fanbase but will it stop us gamers? I don't know.
Dont care. I purchased the NEW 3ds because I can no longer stand playing games on Apple. Not because they were not great games but the FREE TO PLAY market has become a cancer on IOS and android.
@MirkoS77: Yeah, for the phone I can rely on it, and it does what I need it to. I think Apple would be terrible for gaming though. The App store gets worse by the month because there is no quality control and pretty much all of the games now are pay as you play stuff. I get free upgrades from my phone company and I have a bundle of music on my iphone and an apple box for my films so I'm happy with those services.
But let's face is, they're pricey, and carry a lot of people by image alone, and so their console would dilute gaming and possibly bring in the same crap we're seeing on app store now.

Had to go ahead and use logic to crush my dreams right...
if anyone has the money to do anything they want its apple, the iphone business by itself is LARGER than the whole of google and ms COMBINED. let that sink in
they are wiping their ass with $1000 bills
@StormyJoe: Here are some fun numbers for you. :)
$179 billion: Apple's cash-on-hand.
$131.4 billion: The total cost of the Apollo program, adjusted for inflation.
$74.6 billion: Apple's revenue.
$72.9 billion: The combined revenues of Microsoft, IBM, and Procter & Gamble in the same period.
$60.1 billion: Luxembourg's GDP in 2013.
$18 billion: Apple's profit. This is the most profit ever reported by a publicly-traded company.
500 million: Visitors to Apple's brick-and-mortar and online stores.
474 million: Tourist arrivals to France, the U.S., Spain, China, Italy, Turkey, Germany, the U.K., Russia, and Thailand in 2013.
74.5 million: iPhones sold by Apple in the quarter.
21.4 million: iPads sold by Apple in the quarter.
20 million: Copies of the game Skyrim sold since 2011.
lol.
Apple rules the world, most people just don't know it or don't want to admit it yet.

That's awesome!!!
Ever since ipod, they have been massive. But only since the iphone have they reached the status they are at now. Unfortunately, Steve Jobs is dead.
Sad, too.
The iPhone is their main profit generator now, but Apple was wise enough to know which way the winds were blowing. That's why they're at the forefront of mobile computing right now. That's not so much an indictment of their weakness as a company's product lineup so much as it is an indication of their market awareness.
We'll see where else they stretch it. Wearables are up next, it seems.

That's because there are more brands involved in androids than just the one. However, the android market is actually larger than the iphone by itself.
LOL Apple, i bet whatever it is, it's going to be as irrelevant as their OS.
OSX is superior to Windows...
That doesn't make it any less relevant in the market, not to mention, superior is subjective.

im talking about revenue. iphone revenue was 51.81bn, ms whole company was 26.5bn while google was 16.52bn.

Think about your comment for a second, though. iPhone is one platform, all by Apple, yet it rivals dozens of other phones by other vendors.
@DocSanchez:
I have no fanboyism in these system-wars of ours, I like the games on all three, and I generally like the tech they provide us with, and I adore my PC for gaming.
If there is one company I cannot stand, it's Apple. I do not understand how people even buy their products at such a high cost. From my experience with people that I have encountered, they buy their products for the name alone. Majority of them don't know what a processor is.
Apples "innovations" and ventures into new markets make my spine hurt.
people's buying habits are usually geared towards popular opinion. Apple is popular, it doesn't matter what quality they put out or what devices, people will buy them because the name. Same could be said of lots of companies.

Maybe you should think about it....you clearly didn't understand it.

Apple's success isn't simply a result of the name. If their products weren't good, people wouldn't keep buying them. Look at Samsung, for example. Disastrous quarter to quarter performance and profits. Spectacularly bad changes (for Samsung). Historically so.
That's because there are more brands involved in androids than just the one. However, the android market is actually larger than the iphone by itself.
Phones powered by any one of the various fragmented flavors of android are more prevalent in the market, but far less valuable -- which is the important part. Google's app store enjoys more downloads, but developers enjoy far, far more compensation on Apple's App Store.
Apple owns the mobile market that matters.
