Games now are made for players who don't like to lose. Games are too much of a walk in the park.

Online games have communites with players that just don't know how to play;SC2, WoW, CoD, etc. Games are becoming too easy, developers are making games a joke.
Recently Demon souls came out and many said it was difficult, but it was a walk in the park. Only older games have some challenge; new releases are made for the young kiddies.

Not to say I don't mind a challenge, I enjoy them, But todays games are fine.

Ruining vocal cords? I ruin my since games are too easy. Single player games are a joke and last a few hours.

Multilayer is not competitive enough since most players just are not skilled.

Yes games are too easy but that won't change because they make more money from the people that like the easy crap.

I've been playing Mega Man and Mega Man X as of late, so yeah, today's games are way too easy.

Yeah, they are. But it's the lowest common denominators that developers focus on so there's not much you can do about it.

Older games relied on stupid trial and error gimmicks that would make you spend multiple hours on a game that really would be about 1-2 hours if it was "fair"

Difficulty settings are there for a reason. Use them

I dunno, it depends on the game really. But moderate/average difficulty is fine by me, sometimes I just don't have the patience to beat a crazy hard game.

My answer would be yes. I noticed games lately are way too easy and i can't remember a game in the new generation (ps3, xbox 360) that got me trying to finish it for a long time. Recently i found that i have to put some games in the hard difficulty to have a decent amount of challenge. Come on i remember playing games on my nintendo 64 pr ps1 that took me a lotta work to finish it, some i didn't even finish hell even ps2 games were harder but now developers simply reduced the amount of difficulty so we don't have to sweat to see the end of the story and frankly i think it takes away that sense of reward that we used to feel when we just finished that game we have been long struggling to end. Last time i felt an actual sense of acomplishment for clearing a game was Metal Gear Solid 4 and i have played inumerous games after it. If a game today have a difficulty above the standards the reviews criticize it for being hard but i think games are made to be a little hard, i'm not talking about being hard to the point you flying kick your tv because you can't kill the boss but a little difficulty is nice, gives you a rewarding feeling for completing it and it extends the game lifetime. This is just my opinion though and i respect those that are fine with today's games difficulty.

Games are way too easy now, it's boring I don't even really game anymore maybe an hour a month literally. The only game I'm really looking forward to is The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.

No. It depends on what you are playing. Most mainstream games are quite easy to attract more customers, but can be countered with a higher difficultly. Other games such as simulators can be very challenging even on easier settings.

Nah I think they are good right now, I just wish that when you amped up the difficulty enemies got smarter instead of stronger, that would be a nice change for once. Part of the reason I play most games on normal. Hard isn't really hard just cheap.

ye i agree.. im sick of devs just tweaking the A.I for difficulty instead of making difficult levels instead. I rather have a challenging level to get through then cheap A.I and tweaks to their health and damage taken

Most the time, no, although there have definitely been some games that are a tad too easy. Saying Demons Souls is a "walk in the park" is just wrong.

No, old games were just more punishing, like you die, restart level/game. Not really harder. (for the most part) However, some games do hold your hand 100% (fable3)

Exactly. I dont like it when the game holds my hand too much and makes it feel like its on auto-pilot, nor do I want to feel invincible, but I also do not want to have to restart my game when I die :P. The design of games has changed, and the punishments needed to change with them.

I partly agree. Some games (call of duty) basically play themselves and are very close to the point where we will just hold a button and watch how the game finishes itself. But still, there are a quite few games that are just right in terms of difficulty (Demons Souls, Zelda TP). I think the biggest problem with games isnt their difficulty alone, but that they hold your hand way too much.

Thats what I didnt like about Uncharted 2 - its a brilliant action adventure except there is not much adventuring in it. There are 2 primitive puzzles for the whole game! Even the original Doom had more puzzles than that! And sadly enough Uncharted 2 is still better than most other games in this aspect. I really miss games like Shadowman where you had to really think about the environment, explore the world, do a lot of backtracking because you unlocked new powers and gained access to new parts of old levels, etc. Because with such games I really felt like im gaming and I felt rewarded for finnishing them.

There's different types of difficulty and some of them should never be used, and some of them should be used only if you're going to use them correctly. It's fine to punish a player for not paying attention to something, or for not doing something properly or well enough, but they have to know to be paying attention, or how to do that thing properly or how to do something well. A lot of old games are absolutely horribly designed, that's the only reason they're so hard. The focus on cinematic gameplay has also been a part of the move away from difficulty, imagine watching a movie and then it rewinds and makes you watch the same moment 5 times, that would suck.

No. Some games are made to be easy while others are made to be difficult. Just play difficult ones if you prefer that but a lot of people, myself included, like a good mix.

Most games are easy, but there are some franchises now a days that would scare peoplelike the monster hunter franchise because of it's difficulty.

Games have difficulty levels which is the best solution IMO. However games like COD which simply increases the damage received from enemy fire are stupid, I like games which actually change the tactics of the enemy AI and therefore require a change in tactics from you.

I think you'll want to look forward to Serious Sam 3: BFE.

If it stays true to the previous games, there's very little that can save you from the hordes of enemies rushing you.

They are fine and they have higher difficulty settings for more challenge.

A lot of games are story driven nowadays and the players shouldn't get stuck in such a game.

A lot of games made now arent really that challenging. There is a bit too much handholding imo. Might be because a lot of games today take less skill to play than older game. Demon's Souls is a refreshing experience, even if it isnt super duper ultra hard like many claim.

Indeed. I'd rather not be reduced to to screaming profanities and the TV set. making a game challenging is fine, but there's no sense in making a game ridiculously difficult

Keep in mind there are different skill levels out there. What is a "walk in the park" to you (Demon Souls) was actually a pretty difficult game to most of us mere mortals. As for people not knowing how to play online multiplayer games... dude I played Quake 3 Arena and Unreal Tournament 2004 competively for about 3 and 2 years respectively. At my skill level I pretty much would destroy a new player (i.e someone with about 6 months to a year's worth of playing under thier belt, depending on the person's talent) to the point where they would think I was cheating, but against anyone even considered a mid-tier player I would lose pretty badly. This was after years of practice, reading online manuals, watching "pro" matches, etc. This was a huge time investment made worthwhile by the people I played with. However this is not something most gamers will actually do since it really is more work than it's worth.

I understand the idea of giving the "hardcore" something to sink thier teeth into, but if you are truly flying through games like Demon Souls or are laying waste to everyone you meet in online games then you, unfortunately, are in a very tiny minority.

YES! Far to easy! Espically the fps genre, i basically play every game now on the hardest difficulty striaght of the bat and i cant remember a game that has challenged me since farcry. Regenerating health has sucked all fun and challenge out of the genre.

No.. It depends entirely on the game.. Most games have a insane difficulty.. Furthermore older games used a helluva alot of lame ass artificial difficulty settings.. Demon Souls to me is a poster child to the kind of difficulty that I do not think its enjoyable.. Demon Souls to me was hard for the exact WRONG reasons.. When you died you not only had your life cut down to half but start from the beginning.. This coupled with the fact that there are countless insta death traps that you really have no clue about until you stumble face first into it makes it a game that I would hardly call enjoyable at times..

You're calling SC2 easy? Try playing a few matches online and see how badly you get stomped.

edit: In response to the topic I would say no. I feel that games right now aren't too difficult or too easy. If you think it's too easy there are difficulty settings there for you to use. Just because you like a hard game doesn't mean everybody does.

While some people find it annoying to just be able to play through a game and not get stuck, then be required to use a walkthrough, I don't. There is a sort of line games have to walk so that they aren't so difficult it is off putting.

Exactly. I'm all for stuff like extra bosses who are difficult, but don't require players to beat them.

Games used to be difficult often because of bad design, not because the creators wanted a hard game. Better game design has created easier games to a degree, but most games now can be immediately turned to a higher difficulty.

Challenge is good, but not to the point of anger and frustration.
