Are people really that excited for another Killzone?

kz was notoriously average. if you removed ps2/xbox gen, the averages would be closer. guerrilla games wasn't good until ps3 gen. i like halo a lot thoug (more than kz), but it's clear ps2 kz1 is pulling down the average big time. it is intellectually dishonest to hold ggs rough first outing against themselves, as this gen is the only time i even bothered to like kz.

Killzone on PS3 has an 88 avearage. That is nothing to talk down about....

 

Halo 3 was a $60 this gen retail game. it was an overpriced expansion, true, but it still happened 360ps3 gen.

If both was an option I would have added it. I dont understand whats so complicated about the question. Im personally not a fan of Killzone so I would rather have a new IP. Im sure some people really enjoy Killzone so they would prefer another Killzone trilogy. You are making this way more complicating than it needs to be.

i enjoyed kz2/3, but didn't like the first game. it seems to me, they are fine going with more kz at least for launch. sony will bring the new ips too though.

i would say that a new ip would probably take longer to dev, so it wouldnt be a launch game, so i would rather have kz to ahve somthing good to play online until more games come along.

launch games aren't usually something I enjoy for too long, but i can see myself getting more time in a next gen kz launch game until other sweet games come out.

Killzone got better while Halo got worse. I don't see any lemmings using PS2 vs the original Xbox in their arguments. The latest data is generally the best indicator. This generation Killzone was pretty the equal with Halo. Next generation will probably surpass it with 343 destroying Halo.

this is getting way out of hand, I was responding to the poster saying that KZ is better in every way, its not. I can't prove this any other way but review scores? want me to write my own review?

Sadly cows don't really have a good FPS series to compare Killzone to in order to know how mediocre it is. I mean the variety (or lack thereof) on the PS3, as far as FPS goes, is pretty much just CoD, and CoD clones. If you like those then yah, you'll be utterly thrilled by Killzone.

And of course being an exclusive makes it twice as good as any other FPS out there.

Killzone 1 was ok nothing special.

Killzone 2 bland boring generic single player, MP however was some of the best I've played.

Killzone 3 haven't played not really interested in another average single player and MP beta killed any interest I had in buying the game for the MP.

I actually love KZ.  The Helghast are some of the coolest villains out there and there back story is interesting to me.  A hell of alot better then Resistance and COD.

Killzone 2 had one of the best multiplayer component this gen and the singleplayer was enjoyable

Killzone 3 was good but not  as good as Killzone 2

I like the Playstation, so far the things that I've seen and heard coming from Sony regarding the PS4 seems pretty good. One thing I don't understand though, are people really that excited for another KZ game? TBH the series as a whole is pretty medioce and the only thing people really talk about is how great the games looks. Killzone 1 was bland and generic claimed to be the halo killer. Killzone 2 was OK once you got use to the heavy controls, but then Killzone 3 was just pure garbage. I am sorry, with that track record I don't understand why people keep bringing KZ4 up, hell the trailer they showed wasn't even that impressive...

Ok, since we are using Metacritic scores then that means Uncharted 2 and Little Big Planet are better than ANY Xbox 360 game EVER

and since Lemmings think that a game with a score of 80-90 = crap then that means Halo 4, ODST, Anniverasy and Wars is deemed "crap" by your own logic.

Not excited at all unless it brings something new to the table. I lost interest in FPSs generally. Its a nice showcase of what graphics to expect from next gen though.
