I was down on the whole idea of the PS4 until I realized I want to play the exclusives like Killzone 4. I'm sure when they show off some badass games I'll be pre-ordering a NextBox like a good little consumer. Not because I think the specs are going to trump my PC, but because they hold some of my beloved franchizes hostage. It's about the games you want to play. Wait until they make an announcement before going off on Microsoft. At the end of the day, it's all about playing what you want to play.donalbane

If you are wanting exclusives (Kinect and XBLA don't count I guess) than you might as well go get PS4. Microsoft is an American company. If a game does not sale well such as Alan Wake or Deadlight they are gonna port it to PC to get the profit back. If a game does better than expected like Fez or Fable  then again......port it to PC and make a little extra.

Microsoft does not care about the exclusive label. They are gonna put games on Microsoft platforms. Nintendo has strted to do it with the Wii / Wii U and 3DS. Sony is starting to do it with PS3 / PS4 and Vita.

Funny- In the last few years Microsoft has had as many exclusives as the Wii. But only Microsoft gets flack for it. Microsoft has more actually but we don't count Kinect games (for a reason I suppose) or XBLA games even though XBLA are some of the better games released this gen. 

Microsoft is not gonna be stupid like Sony. They are not gonna destroy the company to make 100 people in a game forum that won't buy their exclusives anyways happy. Funny- Everyone wants their phone to do 100 different things but when a console does it people cry. Hypcrites much?

Hmm, whilst Wii was getting nothing, PS3 was getting SSBB & MKR clones and 360 got Halo 4 & Forza Horizon with Gears J coming soon so I dunno, seems fairly core in comparison to the others. :o :P

Why would I make my call on anything at this point with niether of the consoles being released, no real price point, no officially wording on what it will or will not do besides a bunch of rumor mill articles. Just enough with this garbage. Wait until they announce what it will do.

Look. Only time will tell what MS is up to. My feeling is that MS is not stupid, and the alst couple years of this gen they have been slacking, but all of this is in prep for the 720. Most of their partners and studios have not been making games probably because they are working on next gen titles. MS is also not dumping money on the 360 because they can put it toward a) research and development of the 720, and b) selling the console at a loss to make a better price point.

All of this is speculation but MS has been ahead of the curve in many respects in the past and I don't think they will pass up an open opportunity at first place. 

EDIT: As far as jumping ship goes if the 720 blocks used games OR has to be always online I'll stick with my PC this generation. 

Same with me, the 360 was looking good in the first half of its life, with console exclusives like Mass Effect, Halo, Gears, Forza, Banjo, and of course the multiplats seemed to have less trouble on the 360 too. But now I think I'll just stick with the PS4 next gen, I'm dissapointed in Halo, Gears is done for me, even being a die-hard Forza fan might not be enough for me to stay since even that franchise feels like its stagnating a bit.

There are a ton of people who have never been anything but negative to everthing MS, people who hold them to unreachable standards, these people pretend to give them a chance, but in reality will never ever ever support them. You are right with that statement.

At the same time I am (was) a huge Xbox fan, the last few years have not been kind, at best they have been good but completely unsuprising. I hate the focus on Kinect, If they make that a huge cornerstone of the durango I have trouble beliving that MS will have a console as great sounding as the PS4 (which is being marketed as a system built for gamers and developers).

Not exactly an XBOX hardcore player (i was around 2003-2011). I own both PS3 and 360, but this time I'm going more practical and minimal this generation. And PS4 seems a more logical choice for "core" games, imo. However, I'm not buying one at launch.

That being said, I've had enough of the XBOX platform because of their Kinect-focus strategy, TV-Multimedia focus strategy, lack of Exclusive New IPs, and I honestly find NO VALUE in XBLG. It's a big waste of money. How any gamer pays for this annually, even at discount prices, is way beyond me.

I prefer variety and I see it happening with PS4 (already seen it with PS3). Hell, even Nintendo offers more on the table than MS. Sony seems more encouraging towards developers for game development than MS, as I see it. I don't know why MS has shifted their market or why they refuse to build on new IPs or exclusives, they have enough resources to do so. And at this point it's quite disconcerting in seeing where they are going into Generation 8.

I will pretty much always buy all consoles, even the WiiU will end up in my house because of games like Mario/Metroid/Zelda.

I will probably start off with the next Xbox as I did with the 360 as my first console this gen (I have 2 now)

I purchased my PS3 when God of War III came out then continued to enjoy the rest of the PS3 library.

Games like Gears of War, God of War, Halo (not so much for me), Uncharted is what drives me to buy all systems.  As for multiplats I buy them on the system that runs them better, I don't care which one it is.  I sure would have hated to buy a game like Skyrim on PS3, but some games are best on PC (my primary system) anyways.

I think next-gen you will see a lot more Xbox users switching to PS4 than vice versadrakekratos

I always wait for at least a year after the new consoles release to choose which one to support.  I believe brand loyalty to be a very foolish thing. So basically if MS keeps up like they are, the I will not buy their next console.
