It's a simple question.
If yes, when do you think they peaked?

I honestly think so.
I see a large trend towards dumbing down games and making them easy/taking no skill, and alot of copying, especially among fps with little originality..
There are little rays of hope like bioshock or dead island, so we might be ok.
almost forgot. I think they peaked right before the great recession. 2008ish.

If you want anything done right you've gotta do it yourself these days.

Dead Island? Dead Island became very boring very quickly. It was the same damn thing over and over again.I honestly think so.

Bethesda games were the same thing for the most part, especially Oblivion. Fallout 3 sucked, too.
And it was okay for a while, not very good.

A lot of games are more about graphics than gameplay now, and then you have DLC, so yes!!!

Â
Wrong.
EA shooters are more about graphics then gameplay now.
I'm sure there are others besides EA shooters...Â
I can't think of any other games.
If they are getting worse, it's the fault of the consumer. We can blame the developers or the publishers, but we vote with our wallets. Don't like a particular game, don't support it. What you can do is support the games you really like, or stick it to the big developers and publishers and buy indie games or support kickstaters that you think look great. If games are getting worse, then we the consumers need to change who we support with our wallets.

The majority of people liked cold steak too before they realized they could cook it. , That's my problem as a gamer, gaming has become so popular studios keep on making crap because it sells. It won't last though, word get's around and people getting smarter, The environment graphics in bioshock are amazing but the textures are being re used to often and as a game it sucks, bioshock 1&2 had that problem a bit too, but it's getting way too old now. They should make animations for movies or something not make games. Standard fps engine is 15 years old. Been there , done that.

Bioshock infinite just sucksevildead6789

According to your logic, the problem isn't just video games getting worse, but the human race getting overall stupider and more easily impressed.

A few is all you need to prove it wrong. With Bioshock Infinite alone coming this year along with GTA V and TLOU which will likely be very very good games
In fact go to metacritic and all time high game scores and look at the top 20 games. Look how many came this genÂ
I'll name more for you then not just the top 20 in MC
GTA IV
SMG 1 and 2
Bioshock
Uncharted 2
Portal 1 and 2
Batman AA and AC
Mass effect seriesÂ
Skyrim
etc. etc.

Bioshock Infinite was a great example of everything wrong with video games. Nobody cares about gameplay. They just care about spectacles. They care about "TOTALLY EPIC" setpieces and don't care if the game is stupid easy and simple. Tomb Raider, Far Cry, Uncharted and the DMC reboot are all great examples of this, but let's focus on Bioshock Infinite:
It had beautiful graphics, good writing, and a great story (kinda).
But how was the gameplay? It was a generic shooter with regenerating shields, two weapons at a time, incredibly easy and it took no effort to play. I played on 1999 and it was easy as hell.
The original Bioshock had decent character progression, resource scarcity, exploration, good level design, more tactical, thoughtful gunplay, and was overall the better game. Infinite played like crap.

The majority? What do you mean?
No. Games can't keep up with the ridiculously high expectations set by a bunch of cynical and jaded Internet warriors who have simply played too many games. Hobby fatigue happens to everyone. Take a break, long or small, go do other things and then start playing games again and you'll realize just how fun many of them are.

Cool opinion, I disagree.
It's not perfect but if you people want good games and then p!ss in the face of an actual good one (it can still be good with overdone gameplay) then what do you expect the industry to do?Â
It's a good game, some overrate it a bit but it's still a damn fine example of good gaming. Deal with it.Â

I'd argue that the first game now that I've had extensive time with infinite is easily still the best one gameplay wise, also some of the pacing in infinie is a bit off thanks to the Tears.
Mainly how fast you are thrust into a revolution and then turned into enemy #1 by the VOX, it felt very forced.
If he means better in a very recent sense, I'd tend to agree with him actually. But mostly from the sequelitis that has plagued the tail end of this gen.
