Are we over reacting, or is PC going to crap over next gen consoles?

Can a $400, even $500 console compete with PC hardware at launch? Maybe? But I don't see MS or Sony wanting to take losses, so $500 will be $500 in value, not $700.

If consoles are not up to par with PC next gen then I am just going to wait about 2 years and upgrade my rig, have that as my main platform, Halo is not enough, Sony has nothing for me.

I don't understand why it has to - the average video gamer (the real money in the video game industry) doesn't care about the PC.

This is kind of hard to pass judgement on. The amount of data necessary would just make it a clusterf*ck conclusion.

I am going to buy a new laptop within the next couple of months and it will crap all over the next gen consoles. So yes they will be weaker /obsolete at launch graphics/performance wise.

I base it off the people I work with, the people who shop at GameStop -- how many of the casual market will buy GTA V, or Mass Effect 3, or any other big multiplatform on the PC.

People will buy WoW, StarCraft, Diablo and The Old Republic but they won't buy multiplatforms. Those they buy (largely) on the 360 and some buy them on the PS3.

Crap over? Not really, because like this gen, they'll mostly use the same toolsets for games. For example, Unreal Engine 4 next gen. The PC will have the option for higher resolution, some extra detail, and higher framerates.

That's a ridiculously small sample size. Anecdotal evidence is criticized for a reason.

DD is also largely ignored (or wholly ignored with your data).

Graphics are good enough right now. We just need more creativity from Devs.

Having the entry price tag higher than consoles and knowledge required higher than consoles, the casual herd is kept behind their fences in consolelanda and cheaper laptop pre-made solutions.

That wouldn't stop me from buying a WiiU and I'm a PC gamer.

Next gen consoles will not be as powerful as high end PCs, like many have said they will be underpowered even at their release date, however, i'm not into consoles because of the graphics, but the games, so i'm cool with that.

Sadly the truth is consoles are much easier to develop for. Too many combinations in PC gaming and trying to get it to work for all of them and then you have driver problems

I think you are just more cognizant and informed about gaming stuff now then you were during previous generational advances. I'm sure next gen will be fine.
