I see no reason to spend more than $300 on a hobby, especially video games. I'm not obsessed with them, I don't play them more than once or twice a week, I rarely buy new ones.

[QUOTE="AM-Gamer"]A-gamers dont want new ways to play games. The wii , kinect, move get blasted here. I personally love choice and options. I will try anything, and have found children of eden, gunstringer to be fun kinect games. The Wii was a lot of fun when I had one. As for graphics, if I want to spend a lot of money for graphics, why would I go with a console? Might as well go with a gaming rig. When the PS1 and 2 launched at $300 that was cutting edge tech. Yes inflation plays a part, but my pay scale must match inflation in order to go that high on a new console. I have a job that I cant just quit, and find another. It's a reasonable request and the market has shown, most are not ready to pay $500 for a game console. If the hardware itself is a major leap and the graphics make your jaw drop and it allows new ways to play games are you willing to spend the money and if so how much?
I hear people say they want the new consoles to launch for $300 or no buy, to me thats hillarious. If you are not willing to pay at least $500 dollars for the next consoles you need to get either a job or a new hobby. I mean honestly the PS1 launched for $300 dollars in 1994. The PS2 launched for $300 dolalrs in 2000? Why don't many gamers understand the basic laws of inflation and realize that more impressive tech cost more money and if these companys sell for $300 dollars that means one of two things. They are either losing there A$$( which none of them will do next gen) or making small profit maybe barely breaking even on something that does not cost much to make and is a very minimal upgrade from todays consoles.
I find it funny all these people buy $630 dollar I-pads every year which is a minimal upgrade and is nothing more then a large phone without the phone or a gimped laptop . Yet many gamers can't spend $500 on a hobby they supposedly love on hardware that will probably last them 5 or more years? With that said what will you pay and what are your expectation of next gen?

I dont understand the pc gamer logic of not buying a console for its impressive graphics. The fact of the matter is its going to have exclusive games for it wouldnt you rather the hardware be capale of producing amazing visuals. When the next PS and Xbox come out you will be getting great hardware for the money im not sure why pc gamers dont expect that. You can usually get a fully functional game console that matches a high end rig for 1/3rd the price . The only time you can get that bang for your buck is righ at the begining because as time goes on console makers eventually will make money off the hardware.

Well said, but I dont feel that way. I have never saw or believe even a new console will be relevant in a comparison with up to date PC's for more than 8 months to a year. Console gaming for me is about the games PC doesnt get, but not the visuals. Not to say I dont enjoy the look of my games. Just that I am in no need of a new console just so I have better visuals. The games look great to me now. It's the stories and gameplay for me. I can get them in this gen. Please Log In to post.
