It is.

As a media device, the PC is better than every console easily. Hell as anything the PC is objectively better than any console easily.
By the way, you can get a Blu-Ray drive for PC, since I just know that's going to be your argument. Also a PC can be hooked up to a TV, pretty sure you were gonna use that one too.
Anything else to say?

He was saying it agains tthe 360, but of course I agree with you :P. I am happy my PS3 has blu-ray capability, although if it didnt I would probably just buy a BD-Drive for my PC. Of course PC does everything better :P.

All I can say is that this doesn't refute whatever TC said :P
I guess. I barely use either as a media device though. The 360 can play music over any game though, can't it?

Oh and I'm not arguing it, the PS3 is easily better than the 360 as a media device (or as a gaming machine). But it's another case of "why settle for less when you could build a PC?" Of course I love my PS3 and Wii (360 sits lonely in the corner...), but people make so many stupid arguments about why Console A > Console B when the PC absolutely smashed both of them in the given category. As tiring as it is to read, people saying consoles have added convenience or excitement are actually trying to make sense, but stuff like this is just stupid.PS3 is silent, cheap, and requires nothing more than a power cord and HDMI cable. It's cheaper, more convenient, and easier to place in my entertainment center than a media PC.As a media device, the PC is better than every console easily. I don't care about the media capabilities of a gaming device. Nintendo was right all along to forgo any media capabilities for a dedicating gaming console/handheld. It's been proven historically that extra media functions have never been a major contributor to a console's sales or quality in the eyes of the customers.Mrmccormo
This, for the most part. I can't say I don't like having the option on my home consoles, but I hate it on handhelds.
[QUOTE="oldkingallant"]It's annoying how idiots go off topic. This is about 360 and the PS3. There was nothing mentioned about the PC on the OP. If you'd like me to refer you to the System Wars rules I'd be more than happy to do so. You may not exclude the PC from such discussions to try and get an up on the other. If it were Console Wars I'd be off-topic, but seeing as this is System Wars and I'm allowed to say whatever I want as long as I compare systems and it relates to the topic. All I'm saying is it's a shallow victory when both are beat by the PC. Doesn't make me an idiot, rather it makes you one for completely missing the point...As a media device, the PC is better than every console easily. Wow someone with a somewhat reasonable rebuttal to PC elitist talk. I applaud you sir. The only flaw there is that all a PC requires is an HDMI cable, a power cord, and connections for a mouse and keyboard. Also you can build a small PC with more power than a PS3. Convenience and cost are inarguable though, I had to put that thing together and spend quite a while setting it up. Once it's up and running it's no less convenient, despite what some would have you think, but yes it's harder to get up and running. Also every other PC gamer on here LIES it costs a hell of a lot more than they say it does. Sure if you already have a case, OS, mouse, an keyboard you can get a good PC going for $600, but if you're moving from a Mac laptop to a gaming PC, for example, the cost is minimum $1k, plus hours for assembly. As a media device, the PC is better than every console easily. DS and PSP games started cutting out all the sugary fluff that has been infecting console games for ages.

DS and PSP games started cutting out all the sugary fluff that has been infecting console games for ages. Well I like my DS, PSP is the only thing this gen besides the 360 I haven't been a big fan of. My comment got cut off somehow but I was going to continue by saying: Despite the Wii's obvious shortcomings in the power department, Nintendo placed a strong focus on a solid traditional gaming experience and has accrued, in my opinion, the best exclusive library of any system this gen, bar none. Anyway cutscenes are great when they are good. Metal Gear Solid 4 was only good because the cutscenes were absolutely fantastic, if they'd been bad it would've been a painful experience. BioWare cutscenes tend to have great conversational writing, which I love about them, and Blizzard also makes them pretty damn well. But some games, notably Just Cause 2, have atrocious voice acting and dull cutscenes so I find myself skipping through all of them. Alas now we are truly off-topic, this is another discussion to be had. I'll just say the PC is by far the best media device and objectively the best system overall, while the Wii is the only console doing it completely right by not trying to be like a PC.

I have an arguement, having your PC hooked up to your TV is annoying. It's not exactly comfortable using a mouse and keyboard from your couch. I've done it and it's not fun. A mouse is meant to be on a flat surface. Sure you can build a mini desk or by some kind of Wiimote type mouse now all of a sudden you're spending time and money to get your PC to do what your $300 PS3 does right out the box.

I'm not taking sides here, but you can easily buy a replacement battery and put it in the PS3 controller. They're about $10.

You can either buy:
A wired 360 controller for $40
A wireless 360 controller for $50
or
A wireless 360 controller with the play & charge kit for $60

So long as you're making a HTPC, and buy an actual HTPC case, there are many workarounds. You can even buy HTPC cases with detachable touchscreen controls, but they're around $500 alone for the case.
Still, the options are pretty varied!

I've got both PS3 and PC hooked up to a TV, and I agree on the mouse being unfit for sofa. So if you just want to watch movies, PS3 is fine. But it doesn't do even half the stuff PC does, and PS3 controller and interface are far from ideal, doing anything more advanced can get pretty clumsy.[QUOTE="Raymundo_Manuel"]

You're right. It doesn't come with a three foot long charging cable like the PS3 does out of the box.
Instead it's got a headset. Does the PS3 come with one of those? No.
Also, when buy a second, or third PS3 controller do those come with USB charging cables? Nope. Do the 360 controllers come with them? Yep.
Ps3 was by far better the 360 when it was possible to watch with linux. Ps3 still feel way superior althou i hate the media servers **** and media center piece of ****
