That minimum GPU requirement is absurdly high for a console multiplat.

Couldn't the same be said for a last gen multiplat that has a 8800 as min req?

what game required an 8800gt as minimum in 2007? If anything an 8800gt did allow you to play most games up to 2010 even at high settings ( was a beast of a card for 250 euros )

The only games that required a 8800 series wasn't until after 2010. and even then those games were using settings and resolutions beyond what the consoles were running.

After the string of games that have been coming out this year with inflated and false requirements, recommending i7's and AMD FX 8's then saying you *need* 3-4gb vram for high/max settings when in fact you don't need it. People shouldn't get their panties in a bunch, as well as console fanboys using these "requirements" as bait which is hilarious.... As for the latest blunder in pc requirements The Evil Within requiring 4gb of vram when in fact only uses 1.6GB of VRAM at 1080p with all its bells and whistles enabled.

Exactly and even if its a semi - decent port i do expect something in the lines of 7870 to be able to play at or at least close to PS4 level. But then again this is Ubisoft we are talking about so who knows maybe it really needs a 680

Most of the issues with UBi AC games were lack of proper cpu usage, which in turn lowers gpu performance.

evil within, doesn't look like it.

and yes i can confirm that i take every opportunity to choose settings which yield 144 fps.

Drops to 50 fps at certain points https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1wLF7OETuE

i didn't record that.

Are you claiming that your pc has that much more power than a 980 sli/3770 & 4.5?

Even on lowest settings I doubt you could almost triple your performance over max settings.

nah man i'm not claiming that at all.

i didn't record that. i didn't choose the settings - he's chosen 1440p for example. that guy's choices have no bearing on my choices, he probably wants entirely different things eg: max image quality, whereas i want 144 frames.

I notice you uploaded a screen of Mordor and it's at 80 fps.

What's your res? I'm pretty sure you once said you had a 1440p monitor. Even 1080p and lowest settings isn't going to give you 3x the performance over 1440p max settings.

I'm not going to bother. Ubisoft just lost a sale.

Wouldn't be surprised if their lack of effort in optimizing the PC version is part of their deal with Microsoft to sell more Xbones. I'm sure they've succeeded. Many PC gamers will now go for the console version.

Wouldn't be surprised if MS had something to do with it. However, it may have nothing to do with optimization and everything to do with Ubisoft lying to make people buy consoles.

i5 3.3 Ghz or Phenom x4 3.0 Ghz? Same performance? Not bloody likely.

@timster20: oh yeah i wasn't playing then. that's from my fiance's machine. i was setting it up the way she likes it, that's on ultra settings (but without downloading the ultra texture pack); for me i would lower some quality settings because i prefer more frames. although to be fair Shadow of Mordor looks pretty damn slick with that level of detail and 80 fps, really eye catching.

my monitor's 1080p144, as is my fiance's. my brother has a 1440p144 monitor which i find very impressive to say the least.

the consolite term "hermits" insinuates people living their lives dedicated to their PC and spending the majority of their time playing PC games. anyone who is enough into this platform to earn this label already has a system with more than enough power to run any game with these requirements, anyone else is just a wannabe. so don't include the kids playing on their parent's prebuilt home computer, cheap laptops, or the idiots buying a $1,000 dell thinking it is a gaming PC.

it's like calling someone a consolite when all they ever owned was a PS2 or a GameboyAdvance. they haven't earned their position in the system wars universe.

Yup, if you buy lots of games you pay more in the long run on a console.

and that's in less than a year.

If you wait to get lower prices.

I already killed that notion that games on PC are always ultra cheap,on launch day they are almost always same price as consoles,so if you buy first day basically you save nothing, not to mention there is a used market for console games non existent for PC.

No, you haven't.

Why do you always choose Amazon as your go to retailer? Also, what are you trying to prove with that CoD link, all versions are priced the same.

You can always get better pre-order prices on PC, of course this requires not to be a moron, Unity is $47 on GMG, Alien: Isolation was $37 and so was Shadow of Mordor, all before they released.

But of course you always pick the retailer that works for your argument, the Steam store itself is another one where you shouldn't be pre-ordering games if you want good prices.

@Jankarcop: You people just dont get it, it does not matter how it looks. And if its a port the core game will be technically the same with being able to hopefully get constant 60fps.

You forget one thing, nothing will ever beat PC sales. Like my work has 70 or so PC's in the office. Thats what i mean, you cannot compare an closed gaming platform and a open platform thats in most cases not even used for games.

I use mine for classic games, it cost me under a grand, my mate paid 3000 and doesnt even play games, just music production and video editing.

There was one, sure it was running 60 FPS on high, but with no AA and at 1024x768 that is lower than 720p which with no AA will give you a jaggies mess.

Unity for cosnole can be bought at Best Buy and you get a $10 gift card plus you actually own the game and can resell it or trade in when done. When you preorder on console it's not as much of a risk since if you end up not liking it you can at least get rid of it to recoup some of the costs.

Alien and Mordor are the few multiplats that have a cheaper msrp on pc.

It's possible on old games and maybe some new games like Alien, but Mordor, AC Unity, Evil Within, Inquisition etc you will not be playing at 144 fps anytime soon.

You talk about PC and generations. Were you dropped on your head at birth or something. PC dont have gens /idiot

Makes you sound like a complete tool. Please continue...

PC does have generations but they rely on more factors and can be classified in many classes and subclasses alike consoles that only have generations when a new console line is released.

Have never occurred to you that Pentium 1, 2, 3, 4, Dual Core, Core 2 Duo, i7s kinda represent generations on PC. Or DirectX 9, 10, 11. Or 32bits, 64 bits. Or CDROM, DVDROM. Usually the PC newest hardware and software is all inclusive and maintain backward compatibility. If, according to you, PC doesn't have generations, then I welcome you to play any modern game on Pentium 2, or to play a DirectX11 game on a DirectX9/10 gpu, or 64 bit Software on a 32bit OS. Even console generations may be applied to PC, as they are usually taken as lowest hardware denominator when developing multiplats. There is a strict definitions what is a generation for consoles, but there is no such thing for PC, I mean, there is no definition for PC, but it doesn't mean that they don't exist on PC, they are just very flexible and multiple. On PC you may have hardware and software generations that can act completely independent from each other,

PS. No need to be an asshole. Not cool.

Do you really trust PC requirement?

The Evil Within said you needed 4GB of vRAM at 1080p yet the game barely uses 1.5GB of vRAM.

Shadow of Mordor said that you needed 6GB of vRAM at 1080p for Ultra textures yet the game used 3.4GB of vRAM for me at 1440p with Ultra textures.

The GTX 680 is more than twice the power of the PS4 so it should have no problems running the game at higher settings than consoles.

If the lowest settings are similar to the PS4 then anything with 2GB of vRAM that has the power of a GTX 570 or higher should run the game fine.

Well, it doesn't really matter whether I trust it or not... I'm not going to buy a game for $50-60 if my PC is listed as below recommended system requirements. I want the developers to be obligated to giving me a good experience with the platform I own rather than the fault to lie with me for purchasing a game below the recommended requirements. The PS4 is a supported platform and therefore, the developers will at least be obligated to make the product run decently on it.

Specs are what we use to establish baseline expectations. It's too much money to gamble on whether or not I'll have a good experience playing it. And piracy is out of the question, of course.

@bldgirsh: Go play your graphics, i shall stick to games on as many systems i can afford. Games matter to me, not the graphics or fps. I grew up in days where games didnt even reach 30fps. Modern gamers, blah lol.

The only people who say "graphics and fps don't matter" are filthy console peasants.

Thats stupid and makes true PC gamers look bad. I will be a peasant as you say to play TLOU and Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Jak, Infamous, Syphon Filter, Timesplitters and list goes on, i dont give a ****. Your whole statement is dumb as **** unfortunately. Missing out on some amazing games, your loss tho.

PC- i5, 680, 16GB RAM

Dreamcast, so awesome

These specs are bollocks, if they are official it is once again like UBI is trying to sabotage it's PC market, of which it seems to be constantly doing a good job.

Confirmed to be official now, it seems. http://blog.ubi.com/assassins-creed-unity-pc-specs/

Ouch,Ubi Fail

I have made my peace with this company, they have not only killed the Settlers And the Heroes of Might and Magic series for me but also managed to get me to the point of not bothering to buy or play their games anymore even if they interest me,there are way more games out there that can be played and my money can go to more deserving companies that actually show me they are putting some effort into what they are selling me.

If you wait to get lower prices.

http://www.amazon.com/Call-Duty-Advanced-Warfare-Zero-Xbox/dp/B00K308KF4/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1414096278&sr=1-1&keywords=call+of+duty

@timster20: but i don't care if you don't believe that i personally game at 144 fps. you do acknowledge that gaming at 144 fps is possible ... right?

i acknowledge that 144 fps is possible, and i broadcast that i game that way (it's in my sig), and i don't really care if people believe me, or if they prefer 30 fps.

i'm all about 144 fps, i just love it. yum yum yum. anyway bro what Hz does your pc's monitor run at?

It's possible on old games and maybe some new games like Alien, but Mordor, AC Unity, Evil Within, Inquisition etc you will not be playing at 144 fps anytime soon.

Don't you have to pay for a My Best Buy subscription to get that $10 credit?

$10 only redeemable on BB. And it seems is just a limited amount of games that offer that.

Not to mention not everyone lives in the US, so this would be useless to me.

I will take the $47 PC superior version, which is not locked to 900p30fps for the rest of its existence.

Not only are pre-orders still cheaper on PC, but you are paying less for the best version, more longevity isn't bad at all.

Assetto Corsa, same performance at 60fps and 200fps. People do not think about how human eye and brain work. Its like talking about song at 192 or 320 kbs lol.

yeah i play assetto at about 120 to 144. much, much better than 60. and research shows us evaluation can be further satisfied up to 240 fps. but yes that's correct not many people are aware of the research, nor do they consider human physiology.

when you say same at 60 and 200, is this your experience? if yes, what is the maximum refresh rate of your monitor?

192 vs 320 kbps, depending on the quality of the source, playback speakers and so on, a difference might be noticed. I notice a difference between the downward spiral on CD, vs super-audio CD. however i've looked after my ears (earplugs in at concerts etc), someone working around heavy machinery might struggle.

anyway a very warm welcome to the board.

@CrownKingArthur: All my systems are connected to a 32 inch Samsung which is 3 meters from where i sit. I dont like my face in front of a monitor, bad for eyes. Im not saying there is not any difference but for most its hardly noticeable. And yes as you said depends on your monitor/TV and such.

I usually buy Vinyl for best quality. metal still gets released that way. I do own CD's as well and MP3 only for travel.

The only games that required a 8800 series wasn't until after 2010. and even then those games were using settings and resolutions beyond what the consoles were running.

There was one, sure it was running 60 FPS on high, but with no AA and at 1024x768 that is lower than 720p which with no AA will give you a jaggies mess.

lol you missed *required* and to the point of "having" to reach 60 fps. A 8800GT could handle Crysis at 1280x1024 above 30 fps. Crysis was one of those games designed beyond what was available. But also there was graphical configs and mods that tweaked and optimized things in the engine that allowed more performance.

I feel pretty much the same now. Assassin's Creed was the only thing keeping me buying Ubisoft products, but they very quickly nailed that coffin shut. First it was them tossing out the overarching modern day narrative to cater to new players, and now this. I'll probably get Rogue next year just so that I can experience the whole Americas saga, and then I'm done with this franchise.
Such a shame. AC II and AC IV were some of my favourite games last gen.
