You realize that not all PC gamers use lower-end components, right? The majority of PC users on this board, utilize the components they talk about, and many post screens from their own computers. You're trying to attach the majority in the Steam HW survey to posters here, as you state they love to talk about specifications... Plus, we're on this board.

It's already apparent that the PS4 will outpower most PC's... Even lower-end gaming PC's. That's just obvious, Sherlock.

Yeah, it's because there are only a limited number of integrated chipsets like intel 3000/4000 but a vast number of discrete cards

TC left out that it will outpower most pc's. Same thing happens every gen although this time the PS 4 is comparable to a medium end pc while the 360 was comparable to a high end pc when it launched.

For years to come? I'd make a claim right now to say within 4 years we will have tablets... possibly phones that are more powerful than the PS4. The platform of PC as we know it now is dying out and a new wave of technology is coming along. We are no longer as a mass market looking for uber powerful desktops that heat rooms, but we want excessive power in tablets and phones. The "PC" gaming I believe will see a large change in service ability soon, I believe that PC gaming will be the first to embrace streaming games. Example of this is Steam, that is years beyond what consoles have ever offered and the next logical step is what OnLive is really struggling to deliver.

The PS4 is almost already outdated in its business focus. People have shown with Iphones, Ipads, Call of Duty, WoW... anything that has annual or bi-annual updates people will buy. Saying to a consumer now "heres a piece of technology for the next 7 years..." Noone would want to buy a phone that they have to stick with for 7 years.

I am confident to say within the next 3 to 4 years we will see tablets that are just if not more powerful than the next gen consoles with PC gaming being the first to adopt a proper working streaming service. The rate that micro technology is increasing is massive. I heard a few years back that silicon boards are nearing their lifecycle as nano processes are reaching their finite size and thus will not get smaller but only bigger.

Nonsense..no PC gamer that has used one for any amount of time will go with a streaming service EVER!,that means saying goodbye to mods and hosting your own servers and basically anything else that most pc gamers do,and that just will not happen

Also the desktop pc will not die you need large cases to house the high end hardware, and that creates loads of heat ..people are not just gonna give it all up and start playing on tablets or small streaming boxes,also how is the PC as we know it dying out when it has been growing year on year for a while now??

It can be used both ways.  And your point about "emigrants" is dumb, it's used to describe someone's country of origin or citizenship not where their ancestors are from

At first I was having a hard time trying to understand it, because Steam is where all PC games are and it's a gaming platform. I expected to see better hardware...

Then I knew that high-end hardware isn't needed to run games. I can still play games with a GTX 260 today and it's possible by turning down the graphical settings. Many people seems happy to play games at Low settings, given the information from Steam statistics. That's what makes PC gaming great - options and freedom. You can do whatever the hell you want with it. Low settings, Medium or High, or a mixture of them. Any pieces of PC hardware are acceptable.

I have a gaming PC that is significantly less powerfull than rumored PS4 specs and I can max out 90% of gameswith good framerate. I.e. only 10 % of games would use more power than my PC has. And pretty much not a single game uses more power than PS4 will have.

In other words - having PC that is theoretically more powerful than PS4 is useless because noone makes games for it.

Doesn't take much to outpower "most" PCs even today. The PS3/360 are still way more capable gaming machines than 90% of the computers on the market.
