Bad Company 2...PS3 vs 360

Well I was lucky enough to get a few dozen BETA keys for the PC version of the demo (and give it away to my friends and on forums etc.), but I truly hated it, due to performance issues (i normally play 1080p-high-2x AA on my GTX 260M) and poor network issues...

So I was like "hey what the heck, i'll try this on my PS3", so i downloaded the demo. i played it for a bit, and I LOVED IT! so to speak, i just liked the console experience for this game instead of the pc version.

but enough with that, now im trying to decide which console i should get it on. here's my situation.

• Xbox 360 is connected through my laptop as network bridge to access LIVE, kinda annoying but it's better than shelling out 80bucks for the wireless adapter (+ my Intel 5300 network card is pretty good :)) but i usually play my consoles on the weekends and my laptop is almost always by my side since i chat with my friends on PC at the same time...
• Many of my friends wont be getting this game (they all own 360s btw), so there is no "play with your friends" dilemma
• My PS3 is currently getting much more playtime than my 360, not because i like it more though, just cuz i have new games for it...
• PS3 wifi connection is strong...never DCs or anything
• players on PS3 demo were talking properly...they had some form of etiquette. Last time i played Gears of War 2 on xbox, it was a major quasi-gangster/racism/uncalled for swearing party
• Im starting to like the PS3 controller but when i hold the 360 controller it feels more natural (but for some reason, i play much better in KZ than i do in halo these days, KZ KD= 1.82, Halo 3 KD= 1.40

yea so...just give me a suggestion, which console do you think i should get it for??? thxs

So you didn't like it on PC because you couldn't max it out, but you loved it on consoles even thoe that play at 720p at medium setting?

PC version.

I downloaded the demo for both my PS3 and 360 and I really haven't noticed any differences between the two besides the obvious controllers. The 360 controller feels much more percise and more natural when it comes to shooters and it's the only reason why I'll end up buying the game for the 360 and not the PS3. The graphics, gameplay and all that are the exact same to me. Not to mention on the 360 version I didn't have to create a EA account I already had one.

i said "enough of that", i dont want to discuss how i liked it on consoles but how i didnt like it on my pc. when i build my new desktop in 2010, it wont be a problem. since i play pc games on my MONITOR, you sit close and you tend to see all the visual infidelities. so i like to always play at native 1080p, preferably high. no AA is alright but playing at all those settings with 20fps kills it for me. + i had a lot of lag/connection issues...i'll stop it right there tho. im fine with console gfx, i have a nice HT-S9200 onkyo system and a 50" samsung plasma...i sit like 10-15ft away so that itself is another experience that warrants the lower graphics quality.

im just talking in general about LIVE vs. PSN community. i know for certain that PC community beats out console community because mature players tend to play it vs. young people on xbox who are love to shout, get angry, say racial slurs, start fights with ppl for no reason etc. PSN isn't as bad, but in my past experience of Geras of War 2, and halo, there have been enough players that do that, which pisses me off. IMO, PSN is quite solid, even though i just got my PS3 last christmas. No problems, and really it does what i want, w/o paying for it. LIVE is basically the same to me...but who gives a crap when it only costs 4$ a month.

so...on ps3 or xbox?

thanks for the bottom portion of the comments, i really think the controller is gonna play into my choice. ps3 has great community and all, although not as many ppl use mics, but they seem to be mature etc. even when a girl plays, it's not like "SHOW ME BOOBZ PLZ!" like ive seen on halo -_-

i'll try the 360 demo next week, see if it's the same (as i said, i only play on weekends since im busy every weekday with varsity baseball...and then back home to do AP chem. homework + all other classes!)

It seems to me your leaning more towards the PS3, which is a good thing regardless of which console you choose btw. Also, the controller situation, if you don't like the feel of the PS3's controller, you can always buy a 3rd party one.

From what I've heard and seen they're both pretty much identical.

It pretty much depends on the games your playing. Both communities are equally spreaded from my experience.

Id get it on PS3 main reason being you may want to play it after you cancel your Live subscription. Also blu-ray's dont get scrathced.

Am I the only that noticed he said all his friends own Xbox360's so why should he get it for the PS3? Go with whatever version your friends buy simple. Timbury

You can make new friends on PSN to play with, I have a made a bunch of friends from PSN and play with them most days on various games.

Did you look at the above. It's shocking for a 2010 game. http://www.gameswire.net/comparisons/comparison_5_47_stack.html I don't see anything wrong with the trees on any version. Maybe the HDR on 360 makes trees more contrasted?ocstew

Yes, that is like 2 days old. clearly you never played both . You can see the terrible dithering even at the distance in those pics, get closer like you will be in the game and it looks like 20x worse that is a fact sorry. 360 use the method that brings dithering as a defect so does PC.....NOT PS3:)

If you're going to be playing online a lot get it for ps3, since it sounds like your 360 setup would make you lag a bit.

yea well as i said, i cant really max the game...and that's a problem for me. unless there is a radical optimization patch, it's a no go. at heart, im a PC-gamer, as seen in my sig. i prefer PC gaming over consoles due to mouse+kb, since i can play much better than i do with consoles' dam joysticks :p

and yea...stop whining over graphics, the pc rapes both consoles :p (but it runs @ 20fps for me :( lol?) for me, if the difference is between KZ2 graphics and an older game like COD3 (3!), then i will have a problem. if it has graphics that at least are up to par with halo 3, im fine with it (which most 2010 games are! BF:BC2 looked pretty good, but i wasn't focusing on the textures, i was focusing on headshotting ppl from a mile away LOL). im willing to have a slight graphics degradation in switch for a better experience as well.

i guess the main problem now is A) using LIVE or PSN (community/players and B) how the controller feels (i have friday off for winter break, i'll download the demo for 360 and try it out).

also in regards to my "360 lag issue", there isn't any lag whatsoever, i can join a match of halo 3 and play perfectly (though i suck at it really bad after playing a few months exclusively on my PC...dropped my KD by 0.04 :O). it's just that my console is connected via my laptop as a wireless adapter so everytime i play LIVE, my laptop has to be with me (usually it is, but sometimes it isnt). i might try get an adapter used on craiglists, currently im on tight video game budget since i spent like 700 bucks getting new baseball equipment and im saving up for a nice car (mazda CX-7).

also, yea...XBOX players are...umm..very competitive and intense. much harder competition if i try to snipe in halo vs sniping in KZ (love 1 shot body kills with the VC-32 :))

LOL well...i just looked at the screenshot comparison and im leaning towards the 360 (the first pics looks significantly better with darker/richer colors [which are exemplified with my 50" plasma in low-lit conditions, my laptop's LCD isn't too great in color gamut...]). i take back the graphics comment i made earlier :p..but i'll try it out on friday to see if it's really the difference that i think it's going to be.

if i do choose 360, im sure the control scheme will be great (melee = R3?), and LIVE should be great as normal. as long as it connects me and i can mute ppl, im good :)

You're obviously leaning towards PS3, so I'd say that.

its Beta. I'm sure the final version will be much more optimised...

Get what ever. I noticed two differences between the two demos, PS3 version had less frame tearing and 40mm grenades were more powerful. Even though the PS3 thumbsticks are better the 360 remote has better placement and feel of the controls... Its up to you. None of my friends plan on purchasing it also, but I dont care they can play broke ass/disappointing MW2. They play addictivly but still play like garbage... sad.YoungSinatra25

haha SAME! all my friends play MW2, they are addicted to that crap (well not that i hate the game, just that i dont LOVE it enough to play everyday...).
