More starting troubles for the next gen consoles.

We know, next gen consoles are gimp and weak, and will run BF4 at 720p.

Old and not surprised. Anyone who think that 'devs will tap into more power when they become more familiar with the hardware' are deluding themselves. PS4 uses a PC architecture, very easy and familiar to develop for and they are already making cut-backs.

Either way, it's not final regardless, I hope they manage to optimize it properly because in this day and age, 720p is unacceptable in 2013.

But with the limitiations on the PS4 (which is not even out yet) I can see them making heavy sacrifices, especially with 64 players online.

It's not just 64 players, it's also the map sizes with destructable environments and vehicles.

What are you talking about? BF4 PS4 preorders do exist.

BF4 port is obviously still a work in progress. I wonder how it will turn out, but Battlefield always was a PC game, console ports were (and seemingly will be) well... just ports.

They are comparing it to the high end PC version at gamescom. For those used to play it on current gen consoles, it will be a huge improvement.

Wasn't BF4 demoed on PCs running SLI 7970s? Of course the game on consoles isn't going to look as great.

Hardly a surprise.

Poor consolites, taken a beating from the master race this gen, hoped for a year or so of ownage when their new machines released but find that they are already outperformed by current PC's months before they hit the shelves.

You have seen it.

The E3 demo was the XBox One version. That "high powered pc" was an XBox One devkit configured to have the same performance as the retail unit.

I'm betting XB1 won't look any better.  The fact is they have been showing all these demo's on a high end PC more capable than either the PS4 or XB1.  They can do 64 players on the consoles now, but they still have to dumb the graphics down a bit.  The Frostbite engine is a beast and demands serious performance specs to run it.  I couldn't run BF3 on the gaming laptop I had when it came out even though I could run everything else just fine.

It's like that at the start of every gen. only delusional fanboys believe in the smoke and mirrors whenever a new console is about to be released. I'm sure in a few years or sooner the games will look amazing.
