Dat rollercoster frame rate.
Ps2 graphics + sub 60 fps. Wii U masterrace :P
Saw some screen space reflections in there. Making use of that Shadermodel 4 tech. So 2007 DX10 graphics lets say.
Nah bro Crysis 1 is 2007 dx10 graphics, this ain't that. :P
Obviously a smoother framerate is preferable, but all the talk on this forum gives the impression that nobody has played NES or Genesis or SNES where slowdown occurred. Not sure how legit or final this play test is, but back in the day we played the games and enjoyed them. If the slowdown was too much or the game too glitchy--we just wouldn't play it because it'd be a bad game. Makes me think of how ass backwards game spots reviews are.

See Devil May Cry 4 DX10 mode. Looks similar graphics to this. It's clearly doing things the PS3/360 couldn't do. The GPU is just stronger and has a more modern feature set on top. And since this is an exclusive, it's taking advantage of that.
Umm, isn't devil may cry 4 from 200late? lmao rofl
They should have locked the frame rate at 30 fps since it fluctuates that much. 30 fps is often okay for a button mashing game. It doesn't seem to have much platforming or other things that would really benefit from a higher frame rate, though 60 fps is always better for any game.
Hideki Kamiya's response to the reaction.
EDIT: Also, if what Champ says is true, then Kamiya is right. People are freaking out over nothing. Hell, they are going as far as calling it a PS2 game for **** sake.
I only watched bits here and there but it looked to me like the framerate was rocksolid.Variance was generally within around 4 frames - which is neglible on 30FPS+ framerates. It's drops at lower framerates (sub 30/25) and harsh drops that are perceivably upsetting.
The game looks great. I dig the art style a lot. The sound is great as the 1st game. I'm actually impressed the Wii U can keep that well with all the stuff happening on the screen. The frame rate isn't rock solid, but I would not really notice that much while actually playing it. So it's not a game breaker. If anything the OP made want the game much more by posting the video. So thanks Clyde46
Like, I'm watching the video and I see that line moving up and down, but I seriously don't see it happening in the game. It's weird to me.
Judging from the video, it doesn't seem to be much of an issue. The original had framerate drops as well. That didn't stop it from being an excellent game.
So what? The experience will be solid to the end user no doubt.
Not really. Frequent drops between 60fps down to the 30s-40s is VERY jarring and noticeable. I hate to say it, but with that kind of framerate, they should have just locked it at 30fps.
I didn't know Sasuke Uchiha is in this game.
He was in the last one... wait a minute.
Also, funny how the folks in those comments are doing nothing but slam the game and the Wii U for having this framerate BUT in the actual DF article, they mostly have positive things to say about it.
Big deal. 30fps does not concerns me, it's how far has the new Bayonetta game has come. I didn't like the first one when I play it on Xbox 360, and I'm inclined to say no on not buying Bayonetta 2 but I will wait for the reviews before I buy Bayonetta 2.
First the graphics & sales keep getting worst and worst, and now the FPS as well? Is nintendo walking backwards like a crab? Is that what we are doing now sheep? below 30 fps in 2014 is truly discusting if you ask me.
its running on a consoles less powerful than one released in 05 called Xbox 360 so of course it does

how are the sales going backwards?
cows cant say nothing about fps because all your games run like 30fps shit.

This. I'll take a locked frame rate, being it 30 or 60 over crazy fluctuating fps, any day, specially for a fast paced hack and slash like Bayonetta. Not going to stop me from buying and enjoying ti, but man, i agree with you on how jarring it can be.
I hope they add an option to lock it.
Bloodborne dips below 20 fps. Welcome to new gen.
Really? Oh cmon. I hope it's not during most action sequences.
The original on the 360 didnt have the most stable frame rate either, but it didn't drop so much in the 30's like Bayonetta 2 is doing here. I'll still probably pick up the game, but its a little disappointing seeing the bad frame rate.
I skimmed the video a bit because I don't want to spoil too much, but only saw it dip below 30 once very very briefly near the end. Seems pretty solidly above that for 99% of the content shown, which is good enough for me. It's a bit disappointing it isn't locked to 60 like I was hearing it might be, but I can live with it as long as the gameplay is still tight and responsive. Even as a PC gamer I rarely demand 60 fps.
The Bayonetta IP creator and original Bayonetta director, and my longtime boy, Hideki Kamiya isn't directing this game (in fact, he doesn't seem to do sequels, he bounces between IPs). I lost a lot of interest after that. I'm not a fan of Bayonetta as I am a fan of his work. I bought the first Bayonetta on 360 on launch day simply because he directed it.
I predicted last year that it should be a solid title though, in that MGRising quality 77-84/100 level kind of way. Decent, but nothing to get worked up about. I own a Wii U and would love this game to blow me away though as I'm only slated to buy one game this year for the Wii U (SSB) in contrast to last year where I bought 5+ Wii U games. Rough year this year, not just for Wii U, but across the board.

I think that was only during the e3 reveal, the new gamescom footage that's showed up looked like a pretty solid 30.
I would buy that in a heartbeat, director be damned.
In fact, I would file it next to my Charles In Charge Blu-Ray Criterion Collection. I hope it gets announced soon!
