Skip the cutscenes dude. :o[QUOTE="johny300"][QUOTE="eboyishere"]bayonetta's story was so cringe worthy that i couldnt play/watch it anymore.eboyishere
then i wouldnt understand the story :o
Like you would understand it to begin with.:PThis topic is locked from further discussion.
Cool opinion you have there, but I don't know why you think the story is good in Bayonetta? I think both games have trashy storylines to be honest. And Bayonetta WAS better on 360, but PS3 got fixed in an update and plays and looks fine now. Although it's pointless trying to tell you thins because your just going to deny it,either way Merry Christmas!
Haven't played it yet, I recently picked it up, but I highly doubt it. Maybe it matches it, but that remains to be seen.
I know i'll have to knock a point or two off for Bayo's cringe worthy story.
I like how TC just admits
"No I've never played God of War III, but I feel fit to judge it negatively despite knowing nothing about it".
Its like me saying "I think The Godfather is terrible and Malibu's Most Wanted is way better because I've seen that and I've never seen The Godfather".
(Full disclosure: I love The Godfather).
[QUOTE="Slashkice"]
Are you playing through God of War 3 right now or something?
Banjo_Kongfooie
No I played God of War 1 and 2. Read about 3 and watched videos.
I do not need to play it, I am going by what Ps3 gamers are saying. If GoW3 is anything like 2 the story is bad...
Didnt even play the game.well your opinion is now void.Oh and God of War 3 is much better, and Ive played both.wow i'm actually surprised that some people think that bayonetta has better gameplay than god of war 3. I seriously didn't like bayonetrash one bit
If demon's souls counts as hack'n'slash it smashes both of those games into piecesBayonetta is vastly superior wen it comes to the gameplay itself, i thought this undeniable fact was already well known. There are no hack 'n slash - action games that can even begin to come close to DMC3:SE and Bayonetta, wen it comes to gameplay.

Combat - Bayonetta > GOW Story, Characters, Graphics, Voice Acting, Set Pieces - GOW > BayonettaFlamesOfGrey
therefore Bayonetta>God of War
Thanks for clearing that up for us
The gameplay in GoW3 was pretty simplistic so it's not hard to beat it in the gameplay category. Though I never played Bayonetta so I can't say anything.
I doubt Bayonetta story is something to write home about.
timmy00
Bayonetta is something you play only for the gameplay. Bayonetta (along with DMC and Ninja Gaiden) excels at combat and gameplay while God of War is merely good. On the otherhand, God of War is more of the jack of all trades, it's not nearly as good with it's gameplay, but it excels at Setting, Level Design, Graphics, and have a better story (even if you don't like Kratos' character, which I feel was actually intentional.) Bayonetta is really tounge-in-cheek when it comes to the story. The story is silly and stupid (though it wasn't taking itself serious anyway).
Prefrenece of one or the other really comes down to which areas of the game do you value the most.

If you only play games strictly for gameplay sure. However, there are gamers who only play games for story or want a complete game that has everything done well or are looking for certain elements. The reason GOW is such a highly praised AAAE franchise goes to show that combat alone isn't what everyone is looking for.[QUOTE="eboyishere"]

How can you compare a hack n slash to a cover based shooter?meetroid8The title change will make you say, Neighhh, Broni.

Now it doesn't feel like a hack'n'slash as much as GoW3 cause you're not just mashing a button. So I wasn't sure if it's really hack'n'slash or not. Technically, Demon's Souls is a hack & slash game, but just a different kind of hack & slash. You see, the term "hack & slash" can be used to refer to two distinct types of games:
1) Melee weapon-based beat 'em up action games, i.e. Golden Axe, Dynasty Warriors, Onimusha, Devil May Cry, Rygar, 3D Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, God of War, Bayonetta, etc.
2) Melee weapon-based dungeon-crawler action RPGs, i.e. Dragon Slayer, Ys, Secret of Mana, King's Field, Diablo, Monster Hunter, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, etc.
GOW3 beats bayonetta in terms of EVERYTHING (character, presentation, design, enemies, story, graphics, bosses.. etc) besides the FLUID COMBAT MECHANICS.
Theres really only two things that make bayonetta stand out.
1. The Fluid Combat
2. You play as a Hot Lady. (but GOW3 has naughtier scenes)
Bayonetta moves and such consists of her ATTACKING with her HAIR and doing DANCE routines with J-POP playing.
If your into ANIME, then you'd love it.
GOW3 > Bayonetta. Also Vanquish DESERVES more attention than Bayonetta.

da_illest101
I'm actually surpirsed that anyone doubts that Bayonetta has better gameplay whether you like it or not it doesn't matter, the truth is that Bayo destroys GOW3 in terms of Gameplay, which in the end is the most important thing in those kind of games.
The "Everything" you are talking about can all be summed up by two words: production values. That is the only advantage that God of War has over Bayonetta. But when it comes to the actual gameplay, there's no denying that Bayonetta trumps God of War in that department.GOW3 beats bayonetta in terms of EVERYTHING (character, presentation, design, enemies, story, graphics, bosses.. etc) besides the FLUID COMBAT MECHANICS.

By the way, I agree Vanquish deserves more attention than Bayonetta.
never played GOWIII(nor the twogames before it forthat matter),but Bayonetta is amazing.
And even if bayonetta's story isn't as good as GOWIII's (which I could certainly imagine to be the case), it's not like Bayonetta really tried to have a serious story in the first place so I don't know if there's really any point in comparing the stories of both games.
Very true and it isn't even close. Bayonetta beats GOW3 in almost every catagory. I even prefer the look of Bayonetta even though GOW3 has beter tech.
I definitely found Bayonetta better than God of War.
I'd much prefer staring at Bayonetta than staring at an angry guy shouting all of the time.
While I've never played bayonetta isn't it mostly a shooter? That's what I like about gowp4s2p0Are you thinking of Vanquish perhaps?

But what does superior gameplay mean if I have no investment in what i'm doing or why i'm doing it? I'm not knocking bayonetta BTW as its simply just not my cup of tea, but just saying that while the game should be fun, its also nice to have motivation to continue other than just "to win".Bayonetta: story: 4/10 voice acting: 2/10 gameplay: 9/10 characters: 1/10 bosses: 7/10 graphics: 5/10 God of War 3: story: 9/10 voice acting 9/10 gameplay 9/10 characters: 10/10 bosses 10/10 graphics 9/10 Yeah.. GOW3 is superior in every way.The 360 version of Bayonetta is superior.
But aside from Graphics Bayonetta is better than God of War 3. God of War 3 removes alot of the adventure elements and goes for action... Which normally would be fine except the combat system is amatuerish in comparison to Bayonetta.
Bayonetta has a better story.
The first GoW was pretty good but in 2 the character of Kratos got old (why did he not change at all and still acts like he has a tree up his @$$?). Bayonetta does not take itself serious and is better in the sense it does not attempt melodrama. The combo system and amount of weapons is leagues above God of War 3. If God of War 3 was multiplat it would not receive its critical acclaim.
Banjo_Kongfooie
The creator of God of War himself already acknowledged that Bayonetta has superior combat, so that's not even up for debate.
As for "everything else", that pretty much all falls under one category, production values, so there's no need to seperate it into seperate categories like graphics, story, atmosphere, etc.
It all boils down to this:
Gameplay - Bayonetta > GOW
Production values - GOW > Bayonetta
Bayonetta: story: 4/10 voice acting: 2/10 gameplay: 9/10 characters: 1/10 bosses: 7/10 graphics: 5/10 God of War 3: story: 9/10 voice acting 9/10 gameplay 9/10 characters: 10/10 bosses 10/10 graphics 9/10 Yeah.. I personally prefer GOW3, but then again I'm not a big fighter fan, and GOW3 is accessible and fun for me, I can't really appreciate Bayonettas fighting system

Oh ok.meh, never got past the first hour of bayonetta because it was so stupidmems_1224Yeah. I see people posting that the story of Bayonetta was better than that of GOW??? Bayonetta was sooo silly and off the wall! It did have amazing gameplay, which is one area that Platinum games seems to thrive at, so it would be a close one in terms of gameplay between the two. I would have to give the story to GOW in my opinion. I also liked GOW3 better overall. I even think Vanquish's gameplay trumps Gears 3! Graphics goes to GEars3, but I had so much fun with Vanquish, even though they used a similar formula.
Never. God of War is where its at, its what all games take from n get compared to but never surpass.NJGIANTSNYThen explain why Ninja Gaiden cam first.
