I spend more than enough time on computers for work when I am done, it's chill on the couch time. Don't want to be on no damn keyboard and mouse. Plus the trigger buttons on console controllers makes it more satisfying when shooting a zombie or what have you in the head.

PC gaming. More options, better framerate, a whole lot of games, and specifically a whole lot of games that focus on depth.

Plus I like indie games, and the indie market range is ridiculous on PC in comparison to what the consoles tend to get after the fact.

PC. It's just so modular and flexible now in terms of output formats (can output to my TV, monitor or tablet). Can use different control schemes (can use XB1 controller, Dualshock or KB/M) and the game related services and digital stores are great, offering cheaper games on top of excellent content/features.

Then there's the games. It's so broad in terms of genres and titles, with support continuing to grow.

I enjoy neither more than the other.

Honest response though some might want to dwell on my single post and rip it apart calling "LIES!!!"

PC has games consoles don't....consoles have games that PC doesn't. Some games feel better with a KB/M.....some feel better with my DS4.

Depends on the genre. What I like about PC isn't the better visuals or the 60 frames, it's having a mouse and keyboard.

PC. I'm the only one who uses my PC. Someone is usually occupying the TV, and all my games are easily accessible through my PC.

Depends on when you ask. Right now, PC since the current consoles suck. If you asked me in the PS2/GC/Xbox era, I'd say consoles.

consoles, I was primarily pc gaming for 6-7 years and I find myself enjoying console games much much more. The pc just seems.... sterile and boring. I never really enjoy games on my pc but a few friends playing on my ps4 we get really excited and have a lot of fun.

The most I get from my pc is a little smile at best where I'll be yelling woah!!! and jumping around with my friends playing the console. You can make all the arguments about libraries, resolutions, tech or whatever but the simple fact is I have way more fun with a ps4 than a pc. PC's do not seem built for home entertainment, the windows/linux/mac software is much more cumbersome and difficult. My ps4 keeps everything updated and I don't have to worry about a thing, turn on tv and play. No modding .ini files, no tweaking fps, no patching, no updating graphics driver, no unstable games that never work (cough battlefield4 cough) no anything. Turn on, play, have fun.

Yes the possibility for modding is there, I modded Skyrim, New Vegas, Fallout 3 to the tits. You know what, they weren't that much better in terms of core gameplay experience. The swords still swung the same way, the characters still walked the same way.

Where do people get this shit from? Wtf I turn my pc on, I click on a game and I'm playing. And doing three other things at the same time in other tabs.

They just don't know how to work with a PC , a PC Gamer knows the prerequisites and is ready all the time, with a double click the gaming is on!

Not so fast mjorh :P

User with specs as minimum requirements of a game or lower has to lower settings, install updated drivers or patches if they are needed, tweak ini files to get a smooth gameplay. I'm meaning gamers with low end P.C's like us don't've a easy time installing and playing at get go. We've to work on it to get playable fps lol.

TBH, if you own a decent PC, you don't have to worry about anything. Everything works without any problem. I never tweaked .ini files in my life. Never had to. Yes, PC gaming had its short comings back in 90s, until the end of Windows XP days and sometimes I even had to download .dll files manually to run the game sometimes or update stuff but ever since I switched to Windows 7, it's been easier than Console gaming TBH.

Digital distribution revolution has made it even more streamlined. I don't have take care of DVDs anymore. It's all connected and I can easily access my account anywhere and download the game and play it without inserting disc and protecting it from scratches.

Even when there is problem in a game on all platforms, it can be resolved on PC much quicker. For example Esbern quest in Skyrim was bugged on all platforms and while Console gamers were waiting for official patch, I already had 11MB community fix and was playing the game few minutes after encountering that problem.

I'd say today's PC Gaming has made me very lazy.Back then, I knew my shit and now I am too lazy to fix anything on my own. I don't even want to clean my PC or change my GPU anymore and ask my bro to do it (He loves to do it). PCs are too easy to use these days. Too easy for their own good (community is full of noobs and raging kids now).

I've a low end PC 750 ti 2gb, i3 3.07 ghz and 8 gb ram, i've to struggle with newer games TBH. I've to lower settings to lowest to get playable frames in games. But as i said above, people with low end machines like me have to struggle, its not all very easy Heh. My system was solid two years back , now its pretty outdated by todays PC standard, it means i've to pay for a powerful GPU and CPU all over gain in two years time.

You know its not easy to upgrade to a very High End system for a average earning person like me. Consoles games are costly yeah, but you know how we get good deals on console games from Flipkart or Amazon from time to time, so if we buy a console just pop in and play for next 5-7 years.

Mind it i'm a PC and console gamer alike, in no way i'm pointing out cons of PC in favour of consoles. All i'm saying is PC gaming can be costly to many people ( specially upgrading components). This gen, i'll try to invest in a PC over PS 4 or ONE, but its still gonna cost me a lot of dough over any next gen console as you know even a price of i7 or a 9 series card is very high. Then invest in a new mobo to fit em all. I should've been born rich to be a PC gamer Arghhh! lol :)

I see your point but TBH, you don't have to be rich to game on PC. I never built a top of the line PC. I always build mid range-High end PC and it serves me well (better than Consoles) for 3-5 years then changing video card makes everything right again.

But as I said, I see your point and if you are more comfortable on Consoles then sure why not. What I was saying is that PC gaming is a lot more accessible now and a lot of old pains are gone like ,ini files, updating stuff etc. Nothing is perfect though (and will never be). It's all about preference.

The situation is same , don't get this "tweaking files" thing ... the graphics options are available and you can easily switch to low medium high ... i've just upgraded from 7870 to 970 (after three years), now i'm sure as hell 970 can easily last till the of this generation (1080p-60fps-High-Ultra) and i'm not gonna spend shit on anything and games are way cheaper on PC .....Purchase a 970 and I5 4770K and you don't have to worry about anything, you have my word !

@Cloud_imperium Decent or not , it's pretty easy and straight-forward , as you said in win7 you barely find errors that need digging to find out the solution, PC Gaming is the ultimate freedom and so the ultimate experience.

And updating drivers takes no more than 5minutes every month...and patches are provided by devs through steam and they need two clicks...the point is no matter what your specs are you can enjoy gaming on PC...

Who cares about real life friends when you can have super awesome internet friends? Add some steam friends and dump those backstabbing real life idiots. If they game on consoles they cant be decent human beings.

PC. A bit more fiddly but more possibilities. Also, no true generations. No backwards compatibility. You get out of it what you put in to it. There are specialised games like civilization that wouldn't work well on consoles. There is more freedom.

This is the first gen in which I felt absolutely no need to own a console.. Most of the best games have come over to the PC now, and really the only genre that I have noticed not come over at this time are sports games.

I should've been born rich to be a PC gamer Arghhh! lol :)

A 750ti and i3 outperforms a PS4..

@Ant_17: for a long time it was consoles but last gen dragged on and last gen PC games looked like current gen already so I'm definitely on the PC side of things now.

PC vs CONSOLE is irrelevant.

First of all, who would pivot all console gaming platforms equal against just the single PC gaming platform? Shit is stupid. they are all different and separate from one another.

Second, the PC is just one gaming platform along with all the rest. In a competition sense, consoles aren't together against the PC. The PC is just one gaming platform, isolated, just like the other gaming platforms. Makes no difference if the platform is console, handheld, mobile or personal computer.

But to answer the question, no PC is not my primary gaming platform, so obviously it isn't my preferred platform.

Lost interest in Console gaming in recent years.

interesting. for me personally, it looks more like this:

  • 1984-1995... both
  • 1995-2002... consoles
  • 2002-2008... pc
  • 2008-present... consoles

PC for single player, console for multiplayer

Shouldn't it be the other way round?

why would it be the other way around?

/shrug .... many more multiplayer games on PC, with far more genres.

Outside of shooters... and a much smaller fighter scene... consoles don't exactly sport a large array of multiplayer games.

Plus, multiplayer can last longer on the PC. On consoles they keep shutting down servers.

PC gaming. More options, better framerate, a whole lot of games, and specifically a whole lot of games that focus on depth.

Plus I like indie games, and the indie market range is ridiculous on PC in comparison to what the consoles tend to get after the fact.

Don't play much on consoles champ? If i'm not wrong i think you've played almost all best console games as you discuss on SW :)

I do, I own all 3 of them, my friends are mostly console cats, so I'll be on a Halo or a Gears to play with my buddies, there are TDH forum cats I play TLOU mp with from time to time. And in spite of Nintendo's lack of creativity at times, they make good games, and makes games that appeal to what I value in games. It's just PC gaming has become my primary.

Consoles have become an exclusive or bust machine for me, with .....sadly Call of Duty becoming the multiplat I buy on consoles, because my gaming taste is overruled by my loyalty to my friends, and one of my boy loves them shits and I'm like "ugh but why?....fine I'll get it". I'm actually looking forward to quite a few games on my consoles this year. I enjoyed the Halo 5 beta, so I expect that to be good. I love the Fatal Frame series, so I really want that to be good. I could go either way on games like Xenoblade/Forza, and Starfox given that Platinum is on it, I might be more into it.

Super Mario Maker puts a smile on my face every time I see a level from it, so good on Nintendo on that one. Might get rise of the tomb raider, but a lot of games I am interested in are smaller games/middle market type stuff like Shadowrun Hong Kong, Soma, or just straight up multiplats (for instance Battlefront looks funnish), and those I play on my PC. My consoles do tend to collect dust for extended periods of time though, there was a good month where I was on Splatoon a lot, and since then I haven't really touched my WiiU for awhile. I haven't really turned on the PS4 all that much since Bloodborne for anything other than running through a pair of indie games.

I enjoy neither more than the other.

Honest response though some might want to dwell on my single post and rip it apart calling "LIES!!!"

PC has games consoles don't....consoles have games that PC doesn't. Some games feel better with a KB/M.....some feel better with my DS4.

xbox controller > DS4

Where's the bottleneck, CPU? I don't get it. I have an i5 and 750Ti and the only game I've had to run on normal settings was Batman Arkham Knight. Everything else runs on high and above.

Also it's not expensive to own a decent PC, you don't have to get it all at once, just make a few good choices early on. First and foremost, focus on the motherboard and CPU. It pays to get quality components in this area, because those parts are more permanent. If it's for gaming, just get a top end AMD cpu. Everything else you can upgrade in time and chop and change when your ready. I do want a point out the budget is only something like £150 for a high quality CPU that can last many many years and probably less than £80 or £90 for the motherboard. Don't know what that is in USD, we pay tax as well in the UK on what we buy. You don't need a high end PC. Just make sure you get quality components.

Currently have an Xbox one, PS3 and PS4.

Back in the good ol days of PC gaming (1996-2005ish) I was hardcore into PC gaming, the older I got though the more I prefer console gaming now... I hate how the most popular PC games are MOBAs.

CS still has a soft spot in my heart thooo
