I enjoyed days gone more than tlou, god of war, horizon and uncharted, yea it was cut scene heavy but what sony studios ps/pc game isn't.

Looking at the ps road map and the latest S.O.P(stunk of piss) a days gone 2 announcement would have been the best reveal last Thursday and bigger than what Sony has confirmed up untill late 2025.

It just didn't do well, right? Hence why they won't make a sequel? But I'm sure if you virtue signal them, they'd go ahead and make a sequel. Peer pressure. :) I'm not even joking

It was a decent game w/ the PS5 upgrade but, it sold well because it was heavily discounted soon after launch. I'm pretty sure I got it for like $20 within a year of release.

Fwiw, the Days Gone sequel that was pitched would have been a co-op GaaS game. I'm just not sure PlayStation was willing to have Bend take another big risk on an IP that was decent at best. I do think a new IP with similar core mechanics is the best approach if the co-op play is what the team wants to do.

Just give us some games... no one cares about budgets, deadlines, "leaks", etc. It's almost like SONY doesn't plan to release anything... just keep coasting along.

I thought it was awesome other than the few slow walking parts.

you now dam well the sites lowered it score while the players gave it a 8.

it was definitely not a 5. not even close. again read the review. they talk about him looking at his girls butt and did not like it because men are not allowed to look at there wife's like that. read the review.

@gifford38: Depends on the studio. I would argue Sony saw it as a flop if they didn't advertise it selling 7 million, but instead mentioned another game of theirs that broke the very same numbers. All comes down to perception of the customer or reviewers

The game was steeply reduced and they are not making a sequel because it was rejected because it was a flop. Deal with it.🤷🏽‍♂️

The game was financially profitable unlike Alan Wake or AW2 which got a sequel and was a financial failure 🤷‍♂️

Also what about the game didn't you like exactly?

Yes.

Ps 4 version alone had sales of $265 million dollars . The sequel they pitched cost $150 million. The PC version made an additional 36 million. So total revenue of 301 million.

This is from the Insomniac hack.

We have lots of data. At this point it just takes a little critical thinking.

A PS5 sequel was pitched for $150 million. Sequels cost more then the initial entry based off the data we have. It made around 300 million, the cost of PC ports is around 20 million. 170 million in total cost( which is a high estimate) vs 301 million in total revenue

Depends on the budget tbh. Final Fantasy VII Remake sold like 7 million copies, and Square Enix was still in the red overall. For high budget games, 7 million can be breaking even, if even. Though for a low budget indie game, 7 million sold is godtier.

That's not true. FF7 remake was successful and profitable by itself but the company lost money due to other flops.

It's also important to note that Days Gone was owned by Sony so they don't have to pay the 30% cut when a game is sold on their platform while third party companies do.

The $265 million dollars in revenue is hard data. I understand critical thinking isn't your strong point and apparently you don't know what data means either 🤣

Though it can be a nauesence and slow the flow of the game significantly, I don't think developers see it as something engaging, so much as it's building the character and his relationships. :/ Just my assumption.

@Pedro: Movies, not all mind you, inform us on how much they cost. I believe there are some exclusions to the total cost of a film, such as ads and the actors payment(s), but I think it would be quite nice to see how much games actually cost. I wonder if there's a reason why they don't reveal the cost to us? :/

No.

From the leak it said Spider-Man 2 needed to sell 7.3 million copies to break even. It had a budget of 270 million. So you are speculating that " Days Gone" released in 2019 had a budget equal to or greater then Spider-Man 2 released in 2023?

Days Gone was highly profitable... keep coping.

@hardwenzen: Depends what source you're reading. One article I found said that a hack happened at Insomniac, and that the games budget was $300mill. Another source says $315 million; Forbes and Gaming Bolt, respectively. And does budget necessarily mean money spent, or total allowance?

270 or 315M, those are all ridiculous numbers. Never thought it'd be over 150M, and more like in the 110M range.

Yep. These games hire leftist consulting firms for millions of dollars and then hire 30+ writers. If they canned the consulting firms and went from 30 writers to 2 or 3 good ones they would save millions and make a better game while they were at it.

This is exactly why I'm ok with AI wiping out game jobs.

So, you don't have facts that Days Gone was highly profitable so you speculate it is.🤷🏽‍♂️

I am not here to answer your silly questions. You stated "Days Gone was highly profitable" with no evidence but just speculation.🤷🏽‍♂️

The answer to that question should give you all the evidence you need. 😉
