My 2 are...

1.Uncharted(ps3):yes uncharted.the graphics are amazing, the game play is amazingly fun,the lenght is alot longer then i expected, the unlockable and reward sytems work great, and the story is very well written and funny at times.

2.COD4(360):great online and a very good but short single player make this game really good.

and theres no bias here i have played about 8 AAA games and over 40 AA gamesthis gen so i have bassicly seen everything so far

Halo 3: I never got into MP in the first one, so this is like a whole new experience for me.

Guitar Hero 2: Most fun I have ever had with one game.

I still haven't played AC, GH3, Rock Band, or Mass Effect, so both of those games are in danger of losing their spots soon.

It wasn't horrible. If you really like JRPGs, you would probably like it. I'm not even into JRPGs that much, and I enjoyed it. You could probably get it pretty cheap now if you find a used copy somewhere.

I really couldn't bring it down to two, so I'll do three: Gears of War - My first surprise of the gen. I didn't know what to expect, but it was brilliant. This game really opened my eyes to what the next gen could produce. Oblivion - The reason I bought a 360. I wasn't about to upgrade my pc to play one game, and I knew that the Halo series would be continued on the 360. Oblivion was well worth the investment, and I put in more than 300 hours on that game. Completely enthralling and possibly the most addictive and immersive game so far this generation. Halo 3 - What can I say? It's the game Halo 2 should have been. It rewarded the fans from back in the early days of Halo: Combat Evolved. It came through and was great. Of course there are always some let downs, Halo 3 delivered on almost every front for me.

1. Bioshock - Beautiful graphics, great gameplay, just an all-around fun game to play. Just too bad it lacked any multiplayer aspect.

2.Oblivion - This game is just plain awesome. The graphics have held up nicely, and the game is just total fun. It has ate a good portion of my life, and I know it's going to continue to eat more of my life through this entire generation of consoles.

There are a few games that I think will be close once I play them - Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto 4, Metal Gear Solid 4 (if it comes out in Substance form, otherwise I'll probably never get to play it), Final Fantasy XIII (if I ever get a PS3)

1) The Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion (PS3/Xbox 360) : Huge "sandbox" world with endless things to do from missions, plundering caves and forts, and exploring amazing landscape. Anybody that doesn't like this game doesn't have my respect as a gamer.

2) Resistance : Fall Of Man (PS3) : A classic FPS with get characters, levels, weapons, action, and an overall package that kept me thrilled right to the end. Not to mention great online multiplayer. I'm not a fan of online play, but I must say that I had some fun online with this game.

I'm going to say Oblivion for my first choice. I know a lot of people knocked it for its simplistic combat, but I didn't mind it. I loved the quests and just the overall experience. It really showed how much effort Bethesda put into the game.

I really don't know what to say for my second choice... I havn't played Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, Super Mario Galaxy, or the full version of Call of Duty 4... but once I get Mass Effect, I have a feeling that's going to move to my #1 game of this generation.

halo 3 got a little boring for me, bioshock I didnt like the gameplay but loved watching sooo my 2 choices would have to be

GEARS (360)

UNCHARTED

they are super fun, good graphics, cool storylines and good cinematics I like uncharted because its gears punched in the face with a bit of god of war/zelda puzzleness only a bit though not so much punched as slapped

Halo 3: what can i say? 4 player co-op on legendary with friends = a blast, MP is just too much fun, specially custom made games, hehe 300% speed, 50% gravity and spartan laser was like my fav gametype from the beta...and it still is....my only complain is, that bungie needs to put more variety of gametypes for the matchmaking...bring back swat bungie....geez.....

Bioshock (360): the amosphere on this game is great, loved the gameplay, the plasmids, and the upgradable weapons.

now, i still need to play Mass Effect and Assassin Creed, so it might change a bit...but for now....def those two.....

World in conflict - This game has actually revolutionized RTS multiplayer. Competetive, fast, and team orientated, its some of the most fun I had online in a looooong time.

Other then that, I don't really have anything else. I've played it all but wasn't much impressed. I had fun and everything but there were still a lot of dissapointments. Though I'm getting SMG soon and can't wait to dive into that game.

Bioshock (PC). Awesome story, really immersive and well paces, great game.

RFactor (PC). Great racing sim for pc, massivly skilled modding community and great online racing.

1. Sid Meier's Railroads! - Man, I've put so many hours into this game it's crazy. It's like crack. I've played it at least once a week since it came out. It's a same there's not more people playing it online.

That's the only stand out game I've played so far.

Assassin's Creed - A gorgeous open world game that blends stealth and platforming in a brilliant way. I love how the NPC's react to deaths and beg you for money. Everyone says the AI is bad, but I think it's outstanding for a game with so many NPC's filling the screen at any given time.

Super Mario Galaxy - The most brilliant level design ever created. It's absolutely mindblowing that a group of individuals could develop a game this perfect.

Dead Rising: It was clever, gory, over the top, and hilarious. It featured ass loads of zombie killing, crazy weapons, awesome bosses, and biting political commentary. It was ****ing insane.

Bioshock: Excellent, deep story, unique, dark setting, amazing writing, and intense violence. Gotta' love it.

To be honest, i've played a handful of games that i absolutly love this gen! So i'm going to give my top 3 instead of 2

1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - I am a massive zelda fan, it's my favourite franchise by far and the games in this series give me everything i love most about games! Twilight Princess is the greatest, truest zelda game.
What i mean by that is that Twilight Princess made you feel like you had to tackle the world; you explored from the darkest forests to the highest mountains, and you did so much along the way. You canoed, snowboarded on ice chunks, escorted a caravan, jousted, flew, etc. All of this, combined with its amazing cinematic presentation, dark story and massive bosses made TP the most epic zelda; I love exploration and epic adventure, and TP provided these excellently. I clocked in at a little over 70 hours during my first play through and was astonished the whole way through. From the beautiful art, design and sound track, to all of the incredible moments(the western-****shootout in the forgotten village, the whole ganondorf fight) and side quests(fishing, malo mart!).. it was everything i could have hoped for from a zelda game. It did something i never thought possible, it gave me a better gaming experience then both OoT and Starcraft had(my previous 2 favourite games)

2. Super Mario Galaxy - i'm only at about 50 something stars, and quite far from the end(i'm hunting as many stars as i can before proceeding onto the next set of galaxies). Platformers are one of my fav genres, and mario galaxy is top of its **** As you could probably guess, i loved Mario 64, and this game really is "the true sucesor" to that game. The game is so incredibly creative that its mindboggling sometimes, but couple that with the beautiful art and the mind blowing epic soundtrack, and you have my second greatest gaming experience in ages!

3. Gears of War - The first TRUE next gen game as far as i am concerned. IT was the first to really blow me away(though kameo was quite impressive) with its incredible visuals and soundtrack. I was impressed with how addictive and satisfying the game was(both offline and online), not to mention how fresh it felt. Despite being inspired by RE4 among others, it really felt like no game before it. It was incredible atmospheric, and to this day remains my favourite MP game on the 360. There's just something so different about its combat, yet so addictive.

I'd like to also give special recognition to Zack and Wiki(everyone on this message board should own it, i'm serious.. if you don't own this i deem you a fooool :D), Trauma Center SO, Super Paper Mario(not my fav PM game, but it was one of the few games to actually make me laugh out loud consistently), Kameo(wow, what a soundtrack and inspired visuals), and Dead Rising(what can i say, i love zombies!)

1) The Witcher. I'm not far in yet, but it's easily the best RPG made in years (and yes, I've played Oblivion, KOTOR, Bloodlines, etc).

As for a number 2...nothing has really stood out this gen.

Oblivion didn't push the envelope like Morrowind did, but it's still one of the best games for the current generation. As for Bioshock vs. System Shock 2, I never played System Shock 2, so I'm not sure. In any case, both games were amazing. I know where you're coming from, but in any case, give these games their due. Oblivion single-handedly made me buy a 360, and at no point afterwards did I regret it or feel disappointed by it. Bioshock is just one of those games you have to see, feel, and play to really get the fullest out of it. But once you do, it's definitely one of the best this generation has to offer.

I want to list Bioshock, but I can't.

I have to say first off say

Zack & Wiki. That game is filled with great thought involving puzzles, brilliant humor, or some creative gameplay that have any true game jumping all over for. Each zone you visit has it own unique feeling to it. Each character is lovable, and drawn out great. Definately accomplishment in gaming.

I have to say my second pick would also be one major release title on the very same platform.

Super Mario Galaxy. Execellent art style, and probably the best graphics on that particular system. Its hard to explain how truely wonderful this game is. You have some great usage of Wiimote, you have given so many different and unique planes to move about, and fun gameplay all wrapped in one package. This is just an excellent platformer.

Some other noted great games are Portal, Bioshock, Eternal Sonata, perhaps Folklore.

I don't want to be the "guy who disagrees only because everybody agrees" here but honestly? Oblivion and... Bioshock?

I mean yeah they were fun games but nobody was dissapointed by how much the developers didn't push their potential? I mean with games like Morrowind and System Shock 2 looking over their shoulders, the simplistic and dumbed down succesors kind of stung me. It was sort of a "**** you" to the fans. I mean in terms of business, its a great strategy because it just opens the door to more gamers and thusly more money. Yeah thats the right way to do it. I just kind of felt really sad because we really don't have that many deep RPGs out there anymore.

But its the fact that we are losing the serious and complicated RPGs. Every company that has made one has gone soft, and I am 100% sure Fallout 3 will be the biggest dissapointment of them all. I just really miss that day and age where it was serious dedication.

And the thing about System Shock 2 was that it was atmospheric. I thought since Bioshock had great graphics it would topple the atmosphere of System Shock 2 (which is fugly) but believe you me that Bioshock doesn't come half as close to the creepy and disturbing atmosphere of SS2.

Oblivion wasn't as good as Morrowind, I'll admit that. I've put far more time into Morrowind than Oblivion. That said, Oblivion did certain things really good. Obviously the visuals were amazing, but the gameplay just felt...right. It should probably be noted that I played Oblivion on the 360 and Morrowind on the PC, but Oblivion played really well for being on a console. I figured the controls would be clumsy at best, but they're quite workable. My main gripe with Oblivion, stupid as it sounds, is the menus. I can never find anything in those menus. It's painfully hard just to equip your character with the armor you want.

I think they could did the menus alot better, espiecally the auto-commands. My gripe with Oblivion was the level systems, it pretty muchwas one thing, you either made a good character or a bad one. In Morrowind, you could morph what you first started out even if you didnt select good things in the beginning, but in Oblivion, it was a struggle. I was in all happiness when I got my Oblvion 360 version(after my PC version didnt work), I was use to Morrowind, so I took that in and bam my character was a serious struggle.

I can see there are some balance issues in Oblivion, but I never found it overly hindering on the actual experience. There were flaws, yes, but I never found most of them in the way of my enjoying the game. Overall, I just found Oblivion to be one of those rare games that aren't perfect, but the flaws aren't in the way, either. In any case, if you don't like Oblivion, be my guest. I'm not bothered. Different strokes for different folks.
