Castlecrashers! cmon that game was just fun.
And Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2? The original Ninja Gaiden 2 was better.

Not to be nit-picky but isn't Bayonetta more of a beat-em-up than a hack-n-slash?
How so?.
Maybe it's just me but when I hear hack-n-slash I think of games like Diablo, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath -- that sort of thing[QUOTE="Snugenz"][QUOTE="67gt500"]

When i think of beat'em ups i think of Streets of Rage, Final Fight, Double Dragon, Scott Pilgrim etc.

Just my take on it[QUOTE="rzepak"][QUOTE="jg4xchamp"] The day Devil May Cry came out and made the combat far more satisfyingjg4xchamp
Completely different genres. HnS are Diablo and its clones. DMC/GoW are action adventure games or simply action games.
The main selling points of those games have become more about the customization, looting, and semi RPG mechanics. The hack n slash type name almost fits the other games more what with the major focus on the actual hacking and slashing :P Then again videogame genre names are all over the board. Probably should call em pure action games, or just call em beat em ups. Then we have to throw Batman into this convo, but meh his combat wasn't up to snuff so whatever :P inb4 Batman defense force.Maybe. I used to call Diablo and such action rpgs but these days action rpgs are Mass Effect and similar.

Mass Effect should be called a shooter ;PThe only real hack and slash game this gen that I've played is Castle Crashers so as far as I'm concerned it's the best.
[QUOTE="johny300"][QUOTE="funsohng"]I need to play Bayo is Ps3 version really that bad?funsohngYes lol, get vanquish instead or 360 version of batonetta. I am getting vanquish anyway is it like, unplayable? if it's like Assassin's Creed 1, I will probably be fine.
Is not nearly as bad as people claim, the patch fixed a lot of things, is more than decent now, sure, the 360 is still the best version, if you don't own a 360, the PS3 version will do fine.
K, well you don't hack, or slash, but you do beat people up.
It's called Batman: Arkham Asylum, and anyone who hasn't played it can never be awesome until they do.

The PS3 version of Bayonetta isn't bad at all. I recently played the PS3 version about a month ago, and it wasn't as bad as many claimed. I encountered no slowdowns or anything of that sort. Of course, I installed it. The 360 version runs and looks better though, but PS3 version is fine.
My favorite hack n slash this gen is Bayonetta, followed by Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

shame I haven't played Bayonetta, and probably never will
Try it it's the best H&S game this gen. hahahaha no. God of War 3 is BY FAR the best hack and slash in this gen.[QUOTE="johny300"][QUOTE="theuncharted34"]shame I haven't played Bayonetta, and probably never will :cry:hd5870corei7Try it it's the best H&S game this gen. hahahaha no. God of War 3 is BY FAR the best hack and slash in this gen. I haven't played Bayonetta so I can't say which one's better, but if what you say is true.... than it's truly disappointing. Yes, GOW3 had some very awesome boss fights, but its entire combat system is relies on constant button mashing coupled with QTE, which is very accessible and flashy, but in the end, not all that engaging gameplay-wise.
I'm just gonna say what everyone else here should be saying, Way of the Samurai 3.
The combat is deep and immersive with hundreds of moves to unlock for every stance and each weapon in the game, litterally coming out to a lifetime just to master every form of combat in the game. The stroy truly changes and bends based on the way you to play to a multitued of fantastic endings. Although the world is small, it's very open and allows for you to do whatever you please and it all comes out to affect the story by the time it wraps up.
Fighting is more than just button mashing, about key timing and defense and you have to use all your moves and skills to beat the game on harder difficulties.
There are tons of extras and unlockables that make beating the game time and time again just to see what you get a hugely rewarding experience.
The only thing that might turn a person off of the game is lackluster graphics, but being better than any other hack-and-slash on every other front shouldn't make such a superficial trait much to bog it down against it's opposers.
It truly is THE best hack-and-slash of this generation :D
Oh hey look GOW3 is winning, what a surprise that is.Skittles_McGee
Yeah, however is barely winning, having in mind that GOW is a well known and very popular franchise against a completely new IP, that only tells you how good the game really is.

No hidden conspiracy, just open discrimination. ;)No, they try and hide it. They just do a horrible job. ;)

Just so we're on the same page, I voted Bayonetta. I'm sure most of the GOW3 votes are from people that never even touched Bayonetta (and I'm sure said people will get offended I dare say that)[QUOTE="madsnakehhh"][QUOTE="Skittles_McGee"]Oh hey look GOW3 is winning, what a surprise that is.Skittles_McGee

ninja gaiden is underrated.
the original last gen beats any this gen.
bayonetta is gay okay. this poll just shows that the ppl on this board don't know what a good game is. god of war? r u kidding me. god of war has terrible combat. if u like button mashing and no skill boring hack and slash then yeah god of war wins with its story and pretty graphics.
ninja gaiden is and will always be the king.
babybinky
NG: B was a masterpiece no doubt and its still king imo aswell, but keep your juvenile insults towards another fantastic game (Bayonetta) to yourself. Or you know ... try it and be pleasantly surprised.
