God of War 3 easily.

It's such a shame, NG gameplay is way above anything else, I wish Tecmo would sell the NG rights to Itagaki but that's not going to happen. Such an amazing game to be casualized......Ninja Gaiden For The Win!!!!
I hope for Ninja Gaiden 3 to be as good as the others but now that Itagaki's gone it's obvious that the game will be casualized to the extreme.

Got proof it's gonna be casualized? It's not like NG3 is getting made externally by a Western dev like DmC.
NG3 is in good hands, lets wait for a trailer at least ok.

ninja gaiden is underrated.
the original last gen beats any this gen.
bayonetta is gay okay. this poll just shows that the ppl on this board don't know what a good game is. god of war? r u kidding me. god of war has terrible combat. if u like button mashing and no skill boring hack and slash then yeah god of war wins with its story and pretty graphics.
ninja gaiden is and will always be the king.
NG: B was a masterpiece no doubt and its still king imo aswell, but keep your juvenile insults towards another fantastic game (Bayonetta) to yourself. Or you know ... try it and be pleasantly surprised.
While I agree with the defense of GoW3 and Bayonetta, I vote based on the whole game, which includes story, graphics, and voice acting amongst other things. That said GoW3, imo, wins. Bayonetta has great combat but NG:B, and for me at least, NG2 is better.Bayonetta wins this hands down, it's no contest. It's one of those hack and slash games where going back with different weapons yields fun results, the combat is no button masher, and your skills will improve if you take the time to learn from it. Plus some accessorie/item sets are so fun to use, it just depends on your style. I love mastering the Maha-khala.
I liked it te most too, i never though xbox 360 would get the best Hack and Slash game this generation exclusively !!!Bayonetta wins this hands down, it's no contest. NG3 is in the hands of the guy who replaced blood with purple haze and dumbed down difficulty, yea I'm not keeping my hopes up for this one but I wish for nothing more to be wrong about this and have a game to rival the greatness of NGB.god of war ghost of sparda, yes a psp game

Just finished it a few days ago and loved every minute of it. I just started my second playthrough. As for the topic, I haven't played Bayonetta yet so that aside, for me it's between God of War 3 and God of War Ghost of Sparta.

NG2/NGS2 still tops it with more responsive gameplay, faster action and longer more featured packed game. Bayonetta comes second imo. I think people voting GoW3 either have not played the other games or just voting for a PS3 exclusive regardless of quality.[QUOTE="cainetao11"][QUOTE="Snugenz"]

I recieved NGS2 from a lady friend of mine last christmas, but for me, and I stress, for me, the removal of gore in sigma 2 SUCKS!! It just loses it's fun when it comes to dismembering enemies without the gorey ending. I guess my Film upbringing where gore mattered was cool sticks with me. If you have a 360, play that one first, then try Sigma 2, and post your review. I am always open to a different view.[QUOTE="yoshi_64"]I liked it te most too, i never though xbox 360 would get the best Hack and Slash game this generation exclusively !!!Bayonetta wins this hands down, it's no contest. Personally I don't want comic level of blood in NG3 but the pic that was shown for the game pretty much confirmed that blood will be there, hopefully not as much as NG2 though.
Teh blood :P
GOW3 I would say bayo, but there is something really off putting about that game....
Zaibach
Maybe it's the horrible main character? I never thought a character could break a game but I was wrong lol.

Not sure a picture actually proves the game will feature it. I thought NG2 nailed it, so if it's like NG2, it'll be great.
NGS2 has dismemberment but no blood which made no sense at all. The other thing would be difficulty, taking away difficulty from this game would suck. And of course gameplay should be practically unchanged from previous titles, since it's nearly perfect as it is.

Well uncharted34 did provide an argument although not a very convincing one, basically, graphics and scale, although story sucks. Not sure if that really wins best hack-and-slash.

We're arguing about best "hack-and-slash" though, having better graphics/presentation (something most reviews praise) doesn't do much for us. The reviews I've read never even declared it as the best hack-and-slash either. So is that your argument?
@themyth01
NGS2 is not as bad you say, the difficulty can be ramped up and after a few hours of play you completely forget about the lack of blood. The gameplay is virtually unchanged from NG2 but the difference is the game runs better. Saying that I can reckon NG3 should just refine the gameplay because that's all that matters to me, I want Ryu to move better since his kinda robotic when walking around which you don't expect from an agile ninja. I would also like the story to be a focus too, as good as NG games are the story really ruins the experience for me similar to the lack of blood blood that ruined NGB for you.
Well as a NG2 supporter over sigma2, if 3 has an abbundance of blood upon dismemberment, then ALRIGHT!!!! If not then, no............not alright. Many say, "well, the first didn't have gore"/ But I say, GoW increased the blood output, so if dismemberment is in it, then why not be bloody?cainetao11
What if NG3 had the best gameplay of any hack n slash game but little to no blood like the original NG, how would you feel?

I never said it was bad :? I have the game and I throughly enjoy it although not as much as NG2 because it just does't feel as satisfying or rewarding. I started playing on Master and it still didn't feel up to snuff, I wouldn't say I'm an expert at the game but I'm not a novice either. NGB has blood by the way.
I do have doubts about NG3 because Itagaki was the one behind both NG and NG2 and this new guy was in charge of removing blood for purple haze and downgrading difficulty. I wouldn't mind some platforming if done right ala PoP style.

You do NOT speak for the rest of us. And I read the opening post. "Hack-and-slash" simply refers to the genre of the game not the specific mechanics. So don't even try to spin it.

Oh is that why NGS2 got 8.5 and NG got 8.0 :P
I found NGS2 extremely satisfying, probably the best combat out of all the hack n slash games I played this gen, so yeah I trust Hiyashi to deliver with NG3.

How are NGS2 and NG2 scores in any way relevant again?
I'm glad you liked NGS2, good for you. The combat was designed by Itagaki though, the port didn't change the combat which is why NGS2 is still great.

It's just that you are putting WAY too much emphasis on blood as if NG2 got a 10 due to the crazy level of blood. Sure Itagaki knows NG well but he went in the wrong direction with NG2 thus the game did not reach the level of awesomeness of the original. As long as NG3 gameplay is EPIC I really dont care if dismemberment and blood is not present and you shoudn't either. Nothing wrong if it is there but if not it's not really a con for the game.

But still, I don't see how that's a weak argument especially when compared to using just one site as the sole measure of critical acclaim. Yes I know what the rules say, but it doesn't change the fact that it can be legitimately argued (as fact no less) that GOW3 is overall critically the better-reviewed (and best-selling) hack-and-slash so far this gen. And if you're so dedicated to the "only GS counts" rule, then why are you claiming that NG2 is the best when the scores here say otherwise?

Actually I said I enjoyed NG2 more than NGS2, not that it received a higher score or anything of that nature. NGS2 is practically NG2, so if Itagaki had gone wrong NGS2 would reflect this. Don't forget that NGS2 is just NG2 for PS3, but it's still very much NG2 running with few additions. So basically, Itagaki designed NGS2. All the new guy did was used NG2 codebase and port it to the PS3. Porting and making something new from scratch are different things and while NGS2 was great, the new one may not be. I hope NG3 will be great though, we'll see.Never said I did, nor do I intend to. Funny how you label anything you don't like as spinning.. You keep supporting the "ratings dictate best hack and slash" but yet say you're not arguing it?
I guess you could argue GoW3 and Bayonetta are the best hack-and-slash as you could argue Forza 3 is the best racing sim. Reviews take many aspects of a game into consideration. The sales argument is weaker still, as many Halo haters will have you know. If you actually pay attention to the reviews for more than a score though, you'd realize that even GS consider the NG gameplay unmatched.
