Best story in a FPS this gen

I have to go with the Darkness. Yes, the mechanics for the game sucks but the story and atmosphere are top notch.

The Darkness, followed by BioShock.

Although both were bad FPS gameplay wise.

I liked Crysis 2 SP campaign though and the story was above average when it comes to FPS I thought

Maybe, but only slightly above average.

Anyway The Darkness II has a great story and great gameplay.

Bioshock 1,2,Metro 2033...

I think half life 2 was the last fps which had the complete package of story and mechanics.

Thar game should have been an expansion rather than a sequal. Infinte hopefully will be good

Totally forgot about that game,almost killed my old 9800 GT I used back then...

Still,was a great and unique game(despite all the FPS drops),and I loved the ending,provided a very nice sense of closure and accomplishment...

The Darkness is just a better story overall.

There are scenes in The Darkness which are absolutely brutal and really make you care about the characters.

It's also a much better game overall than BioShock.

I agree,wasn't much of a change from the first game...

But story-wise,I considered it very good.Also,I think some people are overly critical of the game,I thought it was very enjoyable,only flaw was too much similarities with the predcessor,as I said...

I guess Bioshocks story itself wasn't bad, but the way it was presented was so unbelievable that I could not suspend my disbelief. It pissed me off so much I couldn't even finish the game.

I am playing Metro 2033 right now so I can't say for that one yet.
and only played a little bit of Cryostasis!

But I liked BioShocks and for some reason really like STALKER: Shadow Of Chernobyl's story. It wasn't too big, but I do like it. I might also like that some of it seems like people can miss it if they're not paying attention or something.

Yes, Bioshock gets my vote too... and I'm willing to throw RFoM in there :P

I just realized Cryostasis and Metro 2033 were the only linear and story-focused FPSs I truly enjoyed since Half-Life².

FPSs don't have good stories.

Halo, then bioshock

While I certainly don't disagree that the running is amongst the allready mentioned games (Metro 2033, Bioshock, and Cyrostasis in particular) I do fee lthat Singularity does deserve a mention. Altho its hard for me to decide if the story was any good at all, or it was the way that it was presented, that was above average.

Oh yeah, METRO 2033. No doubt.

Although, the Cryostasis love over here makes me interested. I never heard much about it since i was a little bit out of the loop at the time.

Deus Ex Human Revolution for me, I would say Bioshock too but I have yet to finish it.
