hardcore gaming didnt really start untill 1996 with quake online deathmatch sh1t was so fun people be playing the sh1t for like 15 hours straight.

coming from mplayer.com to steam is a big let down for pc gaming it feels dead to me ever since mplayer died because the community aspect for each game isnt there anymore and forums are no replacement for real time chat room.
only thing better about steam you can buy games off it.
steam just feels like your playing against a bunch of bots because people arent gonna talk inside the game playing and there's no way to talk outside of a game to people who arent on your friendslist.
mplayer.com like 20 people could be talking in chat room then you could be like yo lets all play just tell em which server your joining and they'll join.
You talked to these people before you even joined a game who arent even on your friendlist.
steam you cant meet new people unless you join a game and send them friend request.
