@Pedro: only indie ones typically. Not behemoths who damage control instead of taking criticism and improving their game
This reminds me of Chinese sellers on Aliexpress/Ebay damage controlling their scams in the feedback section of their store
I guess some of you have never seen developers responses to reviews.😂
But user reviews? There has to be a better use of their time

That is not true. Also you are making the assumption that the critique is not being considered. This is a reaction to a nothingburger.

Yes! Developers frequently comment on Xbox user reviews.
But on Steam user reviews? At some point they just gotta let trolls be trolls. None of these posts on user reviews are going to result in anything constructive. They just come off as petty and kinda stalkerish here.

They could be doing actual work… And again, what do they expect will come from any of this?
This thread <3
People reacting to clickbait headlines, not bothering with the actual story because it's cool to be hateful. Just a perfect reflection of our world.
Did Randy paid his debts already?

Imagine responding with this little Nugget:
”some of Starfield’s planets are meant to be empty by design - but that’s not boring. When astronauts went to the moon, there was nothing there. They certainly weren’t bored”.
Most out of touch bs I’ve ever read in my life. But it’s all normal in lemsville lol

So you haven't live much.😂 Talk about making an Everest out of nothing.

Yes because companies like these don't have folks dedicated to community outreach. They have their developers doing that and developing games.🙄
And how many eyes are seeing these corrections to user reviews? Dozens? There are far bigger and better ways to perform community outreach than correcting a tidbit of a 3 sentence review written by sploogeblaster69

So you are confirming that this thread and the article are making a big deal about nothing.🤔

User reviews are dumb. They have little to no bearing on reality because of trolls. It’s also stupid for Xbox/Bethesda to waste any time “correcting” these “reviewers.” There’s nothing to gain by doing so.
It’s stupid all around
Jesus christ this is beyond pathetic. The general consensus is that Starfield is a 6-7/10, and now BGS are shamelessly going after negative reviews lol.
Has any developer ever stooped this low before?
@R4gn4r0k: I am playing Callisto Protocol right now actually. Phenomenal graphics. The game itself just feels like a slightly worse Dead Space.
I think Dead Space is an 8/10.
TCP is maybe a 6 or 7. Which is decent and almost a bit underrated tbh.
Poo cows. If only BS Jive had new games to play perhaps they'd spend less time looking for Xbox news. lol :P
I guess I'm not understanding the outrage? Why are we mad? Bethesda is reaching out and responding to negative reviews? What part is shocking? I rarely see a product that doesn't have a creator response attached to a bad rating.
Are they doing something I'm not seeing? Threatening people or something? What am I missing?

According to Pedro and another person or two, this is not unusual. TIL that this is normal behavior.
To be honest, I'm accustomed to developers making general statements or general posts, but hadn't recall them reaching out to users' reviews specifically being a standard thing. Now I know.
@shellcase86: I've seen this story popping up on other sites, and I dunno if it's relevant to people on this site but here's what IGN said:
"Bethesda has taken the unusual step for a triple-A video game maker of responding to negative reviews of Starfield on Steam.
While indie video game developers respond to Steam reviews all the time, big publishers like Bethesda rarely get stuck in, which makes these responses, however robotic, noteworthy."
Now I'm wondering what other "triple-A video game maker" has been known to do this.
I have seen large developers take note of massive user response and then address it formally and as a whole, and usually with some mea culpa and promises to try to improve, but I'm not sure about directly responding in user reviews and even contradicting them.
I wasn't sure about Bethesda telling people they were wrong about their opinion, but I did read some of them and when one user called the exploration on desolate planets boring, they did say “Some of Starfield’s planets are meant to be empty by design—but that’s not boring.”
Anyway we'll see if this strategy works in Bethesda's favor. Maybe I missed it and other such devs have done this before and it did help.

lol, no. General consensus is that Starfield is a 8.5/10 game. And many developers post responses to user reviews, lol. Have you never read reviews on Steam, Xbox, etc?

Pretty sure on MC and OpenCritic it's an 8/10. Your "consensus" is a sour grapes fallacy.

No multi billion dollars company would be damage controlling negative reviews if their game was an actual 8/10🤷♂️They're feeling the heat, the game is not selling at all, and their plan to be profitable from selling Starfield for the next 10 years has epic failed within the first month of release. What a one n done game Starfield is.

It’s not typical for a huge company like MS to try and correct user’s experiences. It’s just Pedro being Pedro and downplaying anything negative related to his favourite corporation

Or, they are sick of what they consider "unfair reviews" of something that they spent 10 years on and have a lot of pride for?
It was the best selling game in September, and has at least 11 million players. Your conclusions are laughable.

No other company does it, so your "sick of" doesn't exist.
And again, PLAYED and BOUGHT are two VERY DIFFERENT things. Why do i need to explain you that? Because you're in denial, that's why.
@hardwenzen: Microsoft does not care about bad reviews they are helping players to enjoy the games. Starfiwld is free on Game Pass and they do not lose any thing if some one does not play it - it help them save the bandwidth too! Bethesda they just want to help players discover and enjoy!
Thank you Phil and thank you MS for caring for players every where!

People complain about loading screens on every corner. Bethesda responds with "its fine to have 3sec loading screens on every corner". They helped a lot, actually

I don't waste my time on shovelware its developer has to damage control how bad the game is to everyone who've played it.

I own it and have played it. Why would I need to damage control it? It's an awesome 85/100 game.
