PC + Wii.
Gives you the best coverage really.
The best system to play on your own.
The best system to play with your girlfriend / mates / boyfriend / non-gender-specific-bio-partner-of-choice.
Sure you miss out on a few PS3 and XBOX exclusives. But joy pads are for kiddies.
Just a PC. It is just so much better of an experience. You would also have a larger library of games, even with all of the 360 games and PS3 games combined.

C'mon I am a complete Hermit most the week, but even I have friends at the weekend. And PC's are not good for real friends ....
2 consoles imo, but i've never really been a pc gamer. always been a console gamer all my life. for some reason playing a game with a keyboard and mouse is hard for me. but it's really preference like everyone has stated. if you get the consoles you won't have to upgrade them to play certain games, might save money in the long run?
I don't have a PS3 yet ... stop rubbing it in :PI'll take a PC anyday.
But everyone knows the best combo is PC/PS3 :D

I'd say owning a PS2 ($50), Dreamcast ($30), Gamecube ($30), N64 ($30) and Yobo FC3 Plus (NES, SNES and GEN hybrid) ($50) and budget-level PC upgrades (new MB, CPU, GPU, RAM)($200-250) is better than owning either a 360 ($300), PS3 ($300) and a gaming PC ($600). It costs a third as much and leaves about $800 for you to buy games with.

Well, if the intent is to retro game with N64, Gamecube and NES-SNES-GEN games - and assuming someone never owned said systems and don't own any cartridges for them already - I'm inclined to think it might be worthwhile to fork over the extra money and invest in the Wii. I know the VC's library is paltry and pathetic compared to what's really available for each system, but if someone had no previous experience with said systems they would probably find enough there to enjoy. Despite the high prices, VC games are still generally cheaper than most used game ones on ebay and the like.
For people who enjoy more up-to-date graphics at a budget though, the best deal out there is definitely the PS2 (Which of course also gives people the PSOne library). I thought the price of a new retail PS2 is still supposed to be $100, though?
To answer the TC: I would definitely take the gaming PC, but that's under the assumption that I don't have a good PC for internet, multimedia and productivity purposes already. I would probably pay $300 just to get a decent computer in the first place; the extra $300 would be well worth it if I could enjoy most of the latest games and not worry about annoying slowdowns in operation.

PC. Heck, the game library of a PC alone is larger than that of two consoles at the end of their lifespans.ArisShadows
I'd take 1 console and just bank the rest, i don't need anything else =D
If most comes out on the PC, why not get the PC that has the superiority features? Two consoles by a longshot. 360 and PS3 are the best combo IMO. Most of the good PC games come out on the 360 and ps3 anyway, and at an earlier date. I might play a PC exclusive here and there, but not near as much as the consoles.

Unlike consoles, PC doesn't technically have a starting point or stopping point, so obviously it from the start of PC gaming till now.

No thanks, I prefer to play my games when they are released, not months or even years later. A few more pixels and minor tweaks won't make that much of a difference to me.

yah except most of those older games aren't always compatible without going out of the way to get emulators or drivers or find settings that are fully compatible. I'll take my consoles over pc's any day, and this is coming from a veteran pc gamer, i'm actually sick of it, the graphics arent so different now except for a few games and expensive hardware. I love how the communities are more integrated in teh consoles, the only thing i miss are mods, but most of the time they were horrible and buggy. so some custom maps are all i'm really loosing, and i'm getting a couch and something that just works.I would rather own a console and a PC instead of two consoles. If I had to choose it would definitely be a PC considering it has both quality and quantity when it comes to games. Mods will also vastly increase the replay value of games I would most likely shelve after a week if I had bought them on consoles.
but thats not really all this gen, thats like counting xbox games and ps2, ps1,savagetwinkie
Actually, that's incorrect.
Starting from the 360's release in 2005, the PC has had more exclusives released in that period than any console, and in fact any two consoles combined.
This is not relying on its pre-2005 back catalogue. That just blows out the contest even further in the PC's favour.

Funny considering a major company this gen had released a console originally without backwards compatibility.PC easily.
Best games, best looking games, most custom content, free DLC, cheaper games, largest communities, largest backlog of games, the best multimedia machine you can have in your home, customizable hardware...
I own a PC and a DS and I'd take either over the consoles, but I'd take the PC over my DS. PC is the best gaming machine.
