I found Red Dead Redemtion better than Grand Theft Auto 4 in every which way possible.

SMG 1.1 or Red Dead Redemption? Hmmm. Not a difficult choice. I wouldn't include expansion packs so I'd put it between RDR and Mass Effect 2 at this stage. I'm utterly torn between the two.

I think SMG will win it, although SC2 has potential to take home the gold.

on GS i think SMG2 will win so far. the game with the most wins on other sites will be Mass Effect 2

I highly doubt RDR will win GOTY mass effect 2 got it in the bag. RDR is an excellent game,but in my eyes not GOTY material

I doubt either game will win GOTY. Red Dead has so many glitches I can't see how a true journalist could possibly claim it was a GOTY with a straight face. SMG2, as much as I wanted to love this game is just SMG with Yoshi. Nothing really new, nothing ground breaking. I'm not sure how they could justify saying it was GOTY.

So far the only true GOTY contender for me is Mass Effect 2. Hard to believe I am saying that considering I wasn't even that fond of ME. I'm trying to play through it for like the 5th time right now. I'd pick Alan Wake, myself, but I know it has no chance of winning GOTY here on Cowspot. After last years pick I expect something lame like GT5 if it comes out this year will win.

I'm also expecting good things out of Starcraft 2, but since I haven't played it yet I can't really comment. Plus I doubt it will win GOTY on here anyway.

Probably neither. It may end up being a surprise hit like last year with Demon's Souls.

looks like Halo Reach won't have a chance. Gamespot doesn't seem impressed by it at all. (picking a multiplat for Xbox's best of E3 isn't a good sign, shame)

Based on what I heard - though I have yet to get it sadly - I think SMG2 deserves it the most but I have some doubts it will get it because SMG1 already got it which might interfere in an odd kind of way :P.

Neither can Reach the highs Bungie is set to deliver. :P

But out of those two, RDR for me.

LittleBigPlanet 2.

RDR is a great game, but sandbox games at their very core are all too similar. Though there are tons of things to do in RDR, the basic premise of the game is still the same. Go to a mission and start shooting at bad guys. Yes there are some really cool missions (road side ambushes, the train robbery mission) but they are all at their heart very similar. SMG2 is actually a fun platforming game that is different in every mission. Flawless in gameplay mechanics, but I actually had fun in trying to get every single star (still haven't beat it yet).

Calm down nerds. I love Mario and I own SMG. I simply think of "Game of the Year" to have more personal meaning than a website's claims. As good as SMG is, it didn't do anything new for me. That's why BioShock and Call of Duty 4 stick out more in my mind as defining the year 2007. And yes, your credibility is immediately suspect given that it is awash with Nintendo graphics. So instead of getting off topic and spilling your grape juice, let's just mark down my vote for Red Dead Redemption.
