[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"][QUOTE="CajunShooter"]Everyone complaining about the "gameplay" for this game clearly doesn't understand the developer at all.ispeakfactSome of us do understand the developer. Some of us just don't agree with what they're doing. And many of us do. Games are becoming more cinematic. They can't remain in the fps stage forever. They need to evolve just like they have every generation. CajunShooter's original charge was 'people who are complaining don't understand the developer'. I responded by essentially saying bullsh!t. Now that you have a clue, where the hell did you just come from?

so what? it's a niche already. why are you bashing a vision of some developer who does this game? it's an unsaturated genre, it's not even getting CoD sales figures. if you don't agree with what he calls a game, then go and play the games that you consider a game. period.
Are we only allowed to make a comment if it's in praise of the game? I'm sorry, but are you the commander of the Sony fascist brigade? You're allowed to like the game as much as you want, and comment about how awesome it is. That's your prerogative. The rest of us are allowed to piss on it. Free speech, baby.[QUOTE="rumbalumba"][QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"] Some of us do understand the developer. Some of us just don't agree with what they're doing.FrozenLiquid

I'm sorry you're jelly.
Now why would I be jelly? I have Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy. I have Heavy Rain. I have a Playstation 3. Hell, I even have the Move controller.
Here's a tip: your sphincter need only open when you go to the crapper. Otherwise, keep it closed, and you won't look like a sh!thead like you did with that comment above.
It looks lovely, but it seems to me like they'd be better of just make a cgi movie... it looks like it 'could' be brilliant if they either gave it normal gameplay, or a tbs thing like Frozen Synapse.

....... Are you so blind as to not see that which is on my sig? I'm not sure whether to point you in the direction of my GameSpot Broken Sword review, my Scratches review, my general comments about being the adventure game aficionado on this board; or whether to sit back and laugh at your asinine ignorance about adventure games in general. My favourite game hobby is playing adventure games. My second favourite hobby is watching people like you make an ass of yourself. If you wanna talk about adventure games, come at me bro :lol:Yep but the Xbox generation with their attention deficit disorders are no longer capable of enjoying games that revolve around the story and making you think. They need mindless constant shooting to stimulate their few functioning synapses.People say qte's, but isn't a game like this a new form of adventure game?

I can sit around and do nothing else but watch a movie/tvshow, listening to music, read a book and think. So clearly I don't need gameplay to pay attention to a story(or anything else).
And it wouldn't have to be "mindless" shooting, it could be something like Frozen Synapse's TBS style.
Whats wrong if the game plays/controls like Heavy Rain?? HR was a great title or better say experience and from what was shown looks like Beyond will be even better...
Looking forward to this games... and for all those who think its just an interactive movie, filled with boring QTEs etc etc, just remember you are not forced to buy the game, there are many others games coming out...

They should be making movies then. People can dislike the game no matter what. I understand what the developer is doing and I find it to be sh*t.Don't like people talking bad about games you like? Ignore and deal with it. Me? I'll keep questioning why people would ever spend $60 just to push buttons and watch cutscenes to be fun in a videogame.
I shouldn't have watched that. It reminds me just how incredibly dull QTEs are.
My hype dropped just like that.
FrozenLiquid
Great opinion from a guy with an adventure game in his sig..
Because pixel hunting is the pinnacle of gameplay:roll:
I thought it looked interesting.. :)
Thanks for sharing that, watched the whole thing...looks good! :DLink
Shakycam off-screen and blurry, but beggars can't be choosers. Not sure how long it will stay up.
For those who don't want to/can't be bothered watching from the snippet I watched:
shinrabanshou
- Parts of it play like Heavy Rain
- Other parts of it are played from a first-person perspective where you seem to be invisible and can manipulate certain things in the environment like a ghost
- Animations look nice/fluid from what I can tell from the poor quality video

They wouldn't make good movies though, I'll admit I haven't played Heavy rain (although I have heard about lots of plot holes) but with Fahrenheit man did that game's story turn to crap, a movie with that kind of plot would most likely get panned.[QUOTE="rumbalumba"]

Yes, god forbid people spend money on entertainment. Do you know what I used to buy when I was a little kid? Choose-your-own-adventure books. Those things were awesome. I read so many of those damn things. Heavy rain was that to me, except it was fully realized. Call it a sh*t game or not a game at all. But it IS entertaining to a lot of people and it IS worth enough money that over 2 million people decided to buy. Games are my favorite because I like playing them. I am slightly disappointed to hear that it is like heavy rain, but at the same time, it is still up there on my radar, because it looks damn entertainingI'll keep questioning why people would ever spend $60 just to push buttons and watch cutscenes to be fun in a videogame.timmy00Because people have different taste than you. Not all people have to be killing something every 30 seconds to enjoy a game. Some people like great storytelling and atmosphere.

Story and gameplay can coexist. And it wouldn't necessarily need 'mindless' gameplay, just some gameplay.
It's not like it's somehow more fun, or deep, to control a qte or short, nearly mentally devoid, segments that you just select for a response.

Like I said people have different taste. One person might not like fast gameplay etc but prefer the slower pacing of an adventure game with QTEs being the "action" sequences. My friend's girlfriend would never be able to play a fast pace action game because she just isn't very good at using 360/PS3 controllers. She was able to play through Heavy Rain though and enjoy it because it was a slower paced game and had manageable QTEs that didn't immediately fail you for missing a couple.
Stop with your entitlement that all gamers prefer their gameplay to be the same kind you do.
