I wonder how much of the ocean you'll be able to "explore" or will it just be extremely linear paths.

From the video, it looks completely linear which is very disappointing. It's only the first 10 minutes, so it might change later on.

as much as Bioshock looks nice, it's a corridor shooter with semi-large rooms. If they opened up a much larger playground(free travel on the ocean floor between buildings etc.), i'd be far more impressed.

Yeh, that's what it looked like to me too. Hopefully it does open up a bit more later on...wishful thinking though.

It's been a while since I played the first, but you couldn't combine the plasmids like he did in the video, could you? ie. he used incinerate on the vortex and made it catch fire That's the kind of thing I wanted (and thought there would be) in the first Bioshock.

I didn't use the whirlwind trap (or whatever) very much, but I doubt you could. I don't really see any other useful combinations of the other existing plasmids. Unless you can shoot flaming bees.

You do realize this is a pure cash in right? Without Ken Levine as lead, I have little faith in it living up to the original, regardless of walkthrough videos.

Looks like more of the same. The whole "walking underwater" aspect that everyone is getting excited about will probably be extremely linear.

think more on the lines of imagination and how much more impressive it would be if they could pull off bigger environments, that's worth noting.

Especially when the game is throwing us out into an ocean. At least make it feel more "open".

of course u didnt say that but thats what you're implying. and frankly, your point is ridiculous. The game looks good, so your saying, if it had the exact same graphics, it would look better in a bigger environment, despite, being the same graphics.... hurray for illogical premises.

I believe he said he would be more impressed by the graphics if the game had larger scale levels.

If the game has enough gameplay options it can have a lot of variety even if the progression is linear while being a solid game as well, broken open-world games get stale quick too.

So you can combine different plasmids? It would be amazing if theres a dog plasmid and you can let the dogs out, and then you let out dogs that spit bees out of their mouths! (Simpsons reference...) Looks amazing though. What was the spoiler?

Tell me about it. Did you hear that blood-curdling scream when the player was searching the area at the beginning of the video? THAT was pretty suspenseful if you ask me. Can't wait to go back to Rapture.

i think they stated that you only do the water part when you are going to different sections, so its nothing more than a way to get from "level to level"

Also at the end when the Big Sister made an appearance. How all the lights went out then she jumped down on that globe. That was really cool.

People are complaining about linear shooters now, but when a non-linear shooter like Crysis comes out, people bash it for having 'all graphics without substance'.

well, to be honest, it wasnt really non linear at all. you still had to do your objectives in the same order, regardless of what you feel like doing. the only "open" part of the game was the fact that you could walk around a camp and go in the back or blaze through the front, thats about it. either way, you had to fight everything in there.

I'm pissed that it takes place in Rapture again.

Seems to me that the new devs felt insecure about going in a new direction, which is a goddamn shame, because one of the best things about BioShock was how fresh and unspoiled it felt.

Rapture was a virgin world, just waiting to be ****ed, and now they're gonna bring the gal out again and turn her into a cheap ass whore.

Why can't they do that 'island cult deprogrammer' bull **** that Levine had planned orginally? That sounded cool as hell.

jethrovegas

Maybe it's easier playing a different FPS than complaining about what Bioshock is...
