Okay, I have a buddy, his name is Jordan. He wouldn't stop shoving his love of Bioshock down my throat. Now some people have called Bioshock one of the best games ever.
Personally, I was not impressed. Seriously whats so good about it. =/

It was a sugar coated FPS that had a good setting and a good story, but with severe suspension of disbelief issues. The game was still really well made though.
Maybe it was the atmosphere of the game that you don't like, or the gameplay itself. A lot of people liked the customization of the plasmids and weapons. The ending(s) was/were pretty weak.
Remember, some people call it the best game ever, not everyone.;)
Awesome setting, mediocre gunplay.AAllxxjjnn
I have to agree on this. I really enjoyed the setting, it was absolutely the best part of the game. The story was good too but the execution of the game as atotal was way off. What should have been a game with much more RPG elements ended up beeing a mediocre shooter.

Not even close. I was also one of the people that waited past the hype to buy this game. Then I actually bought it and played it. There wasnt much to really like besides the setting and atmosphere. The gameplay is way overrated. I couldnt even bring myself to finish the game even though I was very close to the end. So TC I agree with you 100%. After playing this game for alittle while I just spent my days playing STALKER a million times.Best game of this generation.

In other news, I don't think Final Fantasy III was as good as most people say it is.

A different opinion than the norm? Gasp!!
And BTW, Demon Souls was no where near as awesome as my brothers uncle said it was.

I am not even close to my own opinion? GASP!!
One of the best single player FPS in a good long while. Best ever? No. Graphics were amazing for the time. The game is polished to hell and has an extremely cool setting and atmosphere. Bioshock = awesome.
The only thing overrated in this thread is the word overrated.
People, it's called opinion.
Some like it because it was very different, some didn't like it because it was very different. It's called preference.
Yet I didnt really find it to be that much different and systemshock 1 and 2 were better by miles. It's amazing if you haven't played System Shock 1-2. I Iiked it though.Sollet
Played 2, and Bioshock was better. Remeber, nostalgia is a dangerous thing.
[QUOTE="RichardStallman"]You're late to the party, and yes, Bioshock was a mediocre game.Yandere
I agree with you for once, and..
awe, you beat me to it. I thought BioShock was pretty good for the first 6 or 7 hours. but after that it fell flat and just got really tedious and boring.
I personally enjoyed it, the setting and tone of the game reallycreeped me out, and if a game can do that and keep me entertained, I'm all for it.
I played it on PC and the gunplay was fast and good. Otherwise it was ok and among different single player FPS games I prefer STALKER over any game including bioshock.
Maybe people who are saying mediocre gunplay played it on console? Controller may not be as fast as a mouse.
Bullets felt like they made no impact. Sound design on the weapons also sounded weak. Just was not fun to shoot people.Care to explain why you guys think it has mediocore gunplay?

I don't think it isn't not that good either too. I don't know why not. I thought I wouldn't not like it, but I didn't.

There was never any reason to use guns, and you were all too glad not to because the only decent gun was the shotgun.Care to explain why you guys think it has mediocore gunplay?

Thats my main concern with FPS, It has to "feel" right. The guns have to sound good, make an impact, and it needs to seem like your really hitting the target.
Bioshock didnt have that for me. I guess I forgot to put IMO
Well, my friends mostly found it was too hard since weapons did little damage, I honetly thought it was one of the easier games i've played, and I beat it on survivor. The game supports a lot of playstyles, but if you play on harder difficulties running and gunning doesn't work and the difficulty problem is worse than ever. I personally thought it was the best game I played out of 2007, but I can understand why some people might not like it.
I guess the main issues can concern difficulty or replay value, it is amazing the first time through. I didn't really find any problems with the feel of anything, but enemies could have showed more emotion when shot in the face instead of constantly rushing me until they died. Weapon sound wasn't too great nor was the way recoil worked, but it worked well enough next to plasmids.
I thought it was good. Nothing spectacular or GOTY worthy like some people try to say it is, but it wasn't bad at all.
I was in a similar position. Bioshock was recommended by a friend who loved it. I found it boring. I'd rather play Perfect Dark Zero. I've been noticing a trend between big budget games that recieve AAA reviews and after the hype dies, people come to their senses and realize teh AAA for what it is. The publisher makes it's millions and the gamers move on to the next big game. "Hardcore" gamers get hoodwinked every time.
