Bioware is my favorite developer but...

...how can you gaurantee that mass effect will be high AAA/goty? bioware has never won a goty award. bioware's games have never scored higher than 9.2. bioware's last game scored an 8.4

think of all the other games that have been hyped to score as well but have turned out not meeting they hype.

I'm not sure, all I know is I'm really looking forward to this game.  The ideas behind the game sound awesome and it looks like it's turning out well, how could I not hype it a little?

yep. there's absolutely nothing wrong with looking forward to a game but hyping it through the roof is just silly.

I don't hype games. I may get excited a few weeks before a game I'm really looking forward to comes out, but I remember to keep my hype in check. Although I don't think I've ever hyped a game through the roof (before I learned to keep my hype in check) and was disappointed, I still remember that there's the slight possibility for that game to fall short of reaching my lofty expectations. To counter that, I set the bar pretty low from the outset, so unless the game totally misses the mark, I'm not going to be disappointed.

Unless a game is a guaranteed AAA (which, after the Resistance and Zelda incedents, doesn't exist anymore) you'll never see me hype a game that high.

I'm saying it'll be solid AA , at least here. Other sites will most likely give it AAA, but GS's reviewers sem reluctent to give Bioware much recognition for some reason.ithilgore2006

Jade Empire was awesome. I think GS underrated the hell out of that game.

Yes I realize BioWare's games haven't won GOTY here. And I realize this goes against my nature to do the "but teh GS". . .However KOTOR won almost 50 GOTY awards and over 120 RPG of the year awards. What you're statement is saying is like, "Because Zelda:TP scored AA, why should we hype the new Zelda AAA." mythrol

and bioware says this is the best game that they ever made, but the thing is they have never said that before. The didnt say that when nn launched or when kotor or jade empire launched, but they did say that for Mass Effect which is a powerful statement.

And seriously i just cant see this game not getting atleast low AAA

• graphics are amazing
• the scale of the game is epic
• atleast 70hours worth of gameplay
• gameplay itself looks unbelievable from both the video demonstrations and from what was described by the devs
• i have not heard one bad thing from any of the many many previews i have read or seen about this game
• completely upgradable and costomizable dune buggy/ land cruser thing that you can get hydrolics and laser beem upgrades for it and stuff
• you actually get to pick your own crew as you explore the world, for example if you visit a planet and you see a guy that is a complete badass you might have the option to ask him to join your crew
• check out all the e3 awards this game has recieved
• i can go on all day about how good this game is....

Whyd I hype it GOTY? Because I'm a Bioware fanboy, to be honest. None of their games ever got GOTY, true. But that doesn't stop Baldur's Gate 2 from being on the "Greatest Games of All Time" list, right here at Gamespot.

Bioware is a herald of quality. Don't bash them, m'kay?

I have no Problem admitting that Jade Empire was a Dissapointment.

But bioware has such an Excellent Track record. Many of their RPG's are amonog the highest scoring of all time.

KOTOR is Still the Absolute Highest scoring RPG of all time on Gamerankings. They Clearly know how to make a Sci Fi RPG..... and that's what Mass Effect is.

It's also true that Bioware's Graphics engines are pretty terrible. Not wonderful looking games. Infact KOTOR's Graphics were the absolute worst aspet of the game.

Now we have Mass Effect using the Unreal 3 Engine and the Game's Graphics....WOW... It's THE Best Looking RPG out there, and by no small margin.

I have No problem at all Hyping Mass Effect as AAA.

I believe that Bioware is one of, if not THE most Talented RPG Dev on the Planet.

it wasn't a disappointment to me. it doesn't change the fact that it got an 8.4 here.

Mass Effect will be EPIC!

People 10 years from now will look back and say, wow this was one of the best games ever made

plus i always seem to predict the goty

in 2004 i said goty will be w.o.w ( people thought i was crazy) but i was right

in 2005 i said it would be RE4

in 2006 i said it would be Gears of War

This year i feel is the year for Mass Effect, unfortunately this year has the most impressive portfolio of video games to be released ever in video game history so it will have stiff competition

It's not guaranteed to get AAA just because it's a Bioware game.  But the reason I'm hyping this game, along with Bioshock, AAA is because they look promising.

Casey you said you dont have a 360

so unless you buy one you will not be able to play this game anyways because its not going to be on the pc ( people say it will be on the pc because its bioware, but its not there call, MGS says 360 only)
