Bioware WTF !!! Don't buy Andromeda * UPDATED

Its a great game as long as you realize its a part of a new series and NOT Shephard's Mass Effect.

I read alot online about people complaining things were changed or taken away, or complain about lack of cover or powers.

It usually turns out they are trying/expecting to play it like ME1-3.

I admit i got frustrated too and started just going through the powers and augments in the game.

I ended up restarting a 15hr playthrough to play the game as it was meant to be played............like an explorer scouting the galaxy in search of new worlds.

Made the game much more immersive and fun for me.

Now, i want to read every data pad and listen to every conversation, explore every abandoned base or building.

Its a really good game underneath the bugs and stiff animations.

You don't even know how old I am. You are just trying to talk down on me by making unproven presumptions. Also, the architect hits harder than the sniper, if you are hit you lose your shield as well. Its just easier to avoid the architect's attack. Making it fire as accurate like a sniper rifle would be ridiculous. If you cant deal with a simple sniper you should play normal, because you suck at the game. Also, the mechanics are far more complex compared to previous mass effect games or for that matter compared to most ea games, its a step into the right direction. Sure it will never compare to an actual pc game, but as I said before its a step forward for the mass effect series. You are just trying to excuse your poor performance.

The game is bad because you cant deal with their political views. Why don't you visit some political forum because what you are saying is unrelated to gaming.

If you want to talk about something gaming related then do it, but if you are going to talk about your political views then do it somewhere else. Yes , but it doesn't mean we should lower our bars to fanfiction level of writing, of course it's ridiculous to compare Bioware's writers to a great novelist like charles dickens however it's fair to compare them to other great video game writers like Chris Avellone

@uninspiredcup: I always find them good at story-telling but they're not great or sth, they're rather great at characterization, however, I haven't played all of their games so I can't really weigh in on this.

I'm all in for improvement, what i'm saying is that we should have the same set of standards for all games, which the majority of them suck in this department.

So if you wanna go after user reviews that means witcher 3 is a much better game than doom.

You are the one who isbeing irrelevant. Metacritic isnt even reliable since you dont have to own the game to play. You dont know anything about andromeda. You were mistaken before about the combat and you keep making mistakes. Now go and continue play your beloved console port.

this doesn't include all the games and we have many great RPGs with strong characters and good narratives , there's no boundary for improvements

This is the kind of thinking that holds gaming back. This "good by video game standards" drivel needs to stop. Unless we as gamers get some standards, video game narratives will continue to be shit. People dont say good for movie standards. If we want to get stuff done we need to hold the gaming industry accountable. Only then can the gaming industry mature.

andromeda combat may different but its still gears of war like combat. it still have cover and regen health. atleast doom doesnot have cover and regen health. 2 of worst thing happen to gaming in last generation.

not even fans of mass effect care about andromeda. its currently most hated game. plus its EA and bioware game who never release a single good game in long long time.

@Maroxad: I'm not saying we should settle for the less, i'm saying comparing a videogame to some legendary director is nonsensical, If you go into a game expecting a Kirosava-level storytelling you'll be disappointed, we can improve, baby-steps, but we can't expect that level of quality.

I picked up the Deluxe Edition for the Xbox One yesterday and while I expect some disappointment I also expect a good time overall.

Release it with really crap facial animations so everyone focuses on that with the funny memes and whatnot, to drown out the more legitimate criticism of how putrid the game is. Again, you make stupid presumptions, your health doesn't automatically replenish to max health and sticking to cover on insanity can be a death sentence, especially for a vanguard build that has to be mobile all the time. You can't seem to comprehend that I am having no difficulties at all with this game. Just because sometimes certain NPC are more powerful than they should be does not automatically infer that am finding anything about it even slightly difficult. Which suggests to me that a. comprehension is not your strong point or b. you are just not reading or completely ignoring any posts so as you can stick to a single narrow thread to get a rise i.e. you are trolling.

From what i understood OP is not good at playing games on higher difficulties and here im tearing Ringed City bosses apart on NG +++ run :P

Enemies are supposed to endure and do more damage on hardcore and insanity, if you have a problem with that you should lower the difficulty. If I am play on hardcore or insanity I want enemies to be able to kill me. I think its ridiculous that you claim that snipers are op. They have snipers rifle, they should destroy your shield with one shot. They are so easy to kill, all I have to do is prime, charge and nova them and I can do that endlessly, because my build recharges my biotics abilities within seconds, you keep going off topic regarding my age, its totally irrelevant to the topic. If you think ages makes a person wiser, then you are certainly mistaken.

you dont know shit about FPS games and id software strategy. Doom won best optimize game of 2016 and most PC friendly FPS since 2007 when Stalker and Crysis were released. you never played Doom. PC version is more faster.

Also, if you value the opinion of some buffed up journalists that would mean that you also agree that Overwatch is a far better game than doom since it got the game of the year reward. Age and experience does indeed make a person wiser and more knowledgeable. Unless they have never learned from a single experience, in which case they have far greater problems than getting older.

Again, snipers being op is nonsense, they hardly do as much damage as most bosses, even if their damage per shot was higher, they have less health and less damage over time. In other words what you are saying is nonsense. I can deal with a sniper within a 2-3 seconds, while an architect takes considerably more time and requires far more attention than a sniper, which I can finish off with three button pushes. It would be more logical if you said bosses were underwhelming, then I would certainly acknowledge your opinion.

I'm fans of those dudes as well, especially Orwell but compared to interactivity and gameplay design, Dickens and Orwell suck the fat one compared to Andromeda. In fact, their gameplay and interactivity are so bad as to be non existent. By that rationale they're at least even in terms of being complete entertainment packages and I'm being fair because I haven't even gotten into how quickly one could go through those novels compared to an Andromeda playthrough.

...I also don't think we should compartmentalize each element of storytelling and entertainment as much as we do. It's much more constructive to judge and discuss individual media taking into account the sum of their parts instead.
