which one is more likely to win GOTY on Gamespot?
On GameSpot? Bloodborne, easily.
For me, it's pretty close. Both start off incredibly strong and are amazingly refined in their gameplay, and end on much weaker notes. I think I'd go with Halo 5 overall. Maybe. I dunno.
You thought Bloodborne ended weak? Don't post any spoilers, but I don't see how you came to that conclusion.

Sure, post-Rom sucked and the game emphasized its lore to the point the actual gameplay suffers. The bread and butter of the series, strong one-on-one combat, is basically tossed to the side for sprints through unfun enemies.
It's not bad. Lost Izalith is bad. It's just much weaker than the rest of the game.

Everything post Rom is shit.
That said, and without having played Halo 5, I would still vote for Bloodborne.
Bloodborne's not really my thing, but Halo 5's campaign was pretty disappointing so it certainly won't be my GOTY either.
Halo 5's Guardians? What are the Guardians versing a Bloodborne, what the **** is a Bloodborne?
Learn English m8.
@charizard1605: No it's not, the level design is actually still quite good. That's the main thing everyone disagrees with you about when it comes to post-Rom.
I don't care what they disagree about, the level design being good matters for shit if the encounter design is poor. That was the case in Yahar Gul. Meanwhile, Nightmare of Mensis had bad level design (although the encounters were okay this time around). Nightmare Frontier takes the cake with both, the level and encounter design being poor.
There are three areas in the game post Rom, and all three are shit. Two suffer from bad level design, two suffer from bad encounter design.
EDIT: There was also the Lecture Hall, that was actually very good. But it was also a buffer area, it's about five minutes long total, so I am not sure it should count much.

I guess I can see that. A couple of later levels had some annoying mechanics. I never felt that it was a letdown while I was playing it though. Just something else to deal with.

It's absurd to say the level design is bad in any Souls game.
Having only finished the campaign of Halo 5: Guardians and only played a few rounds of multiplayer versus playing a solid 15 hours of Bloodborne but not beating it, I'd go with Halo 5: Guardians as my personal Game of the Year.
Game of the Year at Gamespot, though? Well unless the entire team here at GS is having an absolute blast with Halo 5's online, I'm guessing Bloodborne would easily take it over Halo 5.

I maintain that the level design in Nightmare of Mensis and Nightmare Frontier is actively bad.
Halo 5 doesn't stand a chance. GS would definitely pick Bloodborne. None of this matters though since I think Witcher 3 is gonna win GOTY.
Neither, it´s going to be The Order 1886 !
Gallahad for character of the year, man i loved every QTE, every object inspection. Every long walk, not being able to sprint.

Nah Dark Souls 2 exists, anyone pretending that game has good level design is on crack.

Apart from the poison pond/rock throwers in NF and the cheap shots that are the motherbrain/brain maidens or whatever they are in NoM, I'd say other than it being frustraitingly difficult, the level itself is well layed out and designed. Nothing stands out that says ''why the **** did they put that there'' for instance. And the boss fight with Micolash is good, and the wetnurse is even better. Then did you play the optional bosses later on in the game? They are the most challenging and well designed in the game. This post Rom thing you keep talking about is a bit overblown.
I think the sheer shitness of Yarghuls Village really fucked with your judgement. Now that is a bad area. Horrible horrible place.

The boss fights are amazing, no questions about that.
The thing with the optional areas are that they can actually be accessed pre-Rom. I don't consider those to be post-Rom areas, strictly speaking.
Nightmare Frontier absolutely suffers from bad level design. It's actually just bad. That lake for example is a classic case of 'why is it even here?'
I will concede that NoM, outside of the poison darts and shit, isn't as bad as NF and especially Yahar Gul, but it's the shiniest turd. These three areas absolutely bring the quality of the overall game down, and considering that you go from Cainhurst, Charnel Lane, Forbidden Woods, and Byrgenworth to these places? They stick out like a wart, man.
Is it overblown? Absolutely, I agree with you. On their own merits, maybe they're not even that bad (okay, Yahar Gul is). But you know what? Bloodborne was held to a higher standard, and it met, hell, exceeded that higher standard thanks to areas like Forbidden Woods. Even if these places are a 6/10? That's four fucking points down from the 10/10 it was before. The higher you stand, the harder you fall.
Hopefully a PC exclusive, just for the meltdown it would cause on here.
Oh and just so you know, I'm not a PC gamer.
Of those two, Bloodborne. I prefer Halo but this is GS but I don't think it will be Bloodborne either. Witcher 3 or MGS 5 probably have it nailed. Maybe even Fallout 4 though I doubt it, who knows. Anyway my answer is 'not Halo'.

Forgot that game existed lol. Okay so saying any Miyazaki Souls game has bad level design is absurd. I expect DkS3 to be great.
@elpresador-911: Bloodborne, absolutely. I mean, Halo is alright technically, but Bloodborne is a work of art.
@xhawk27: That is always a certainty, just as Final Fantasy will sell more than Tales, or Pokemon will sell more than Fire Emblem. I don't think sales should come into judging the qualities of a game. But that's just me.
BB has a big chance of getting GOTY. Halo 5 is an average game that will be forgotten 5 days from now.

What are you guys referring to when you say post rom?
Nightmare of Mensis, Nightmare Frontier, and Yahar Gul

Oh, oooohhhhh. I thought it was some acronym or something. ok, got it!

Nah, lol.
Although now I feel stupid for not sensing the source of confusion before >.>
We are still in the honeymoon period for one of the titles in question. Excitement is still too high to get an accurate read.
I can tell you the metascores right now:
85/100 out of 78 critics: Halo 5 (8, AAE at Gamespot)
92/100 out of 100 critics: Bloodborne (9 AAAE at Gamespot)
For all we know, GOTY will be neither game for this site.
The true test is longevity and if Halo 5 captures the communities long term interest, a community who largely abandoned ship with 343's Halo 4 after a few months.
