In order to hear the miniscule difference between uncompressed and compressed sound you have to be running it thru a 7.1 surround sound system...and even then the difference is MINISCULE.

That 10gb for Uncharted per level? Ok, so Uncharted is 5 levels long, real gem of a game there buddy let me tell you, each level has such awesome SOUND and such average GRAPHICS that the game is now only going to be max 3-4 hours long because Blu-Ray is just too small...

Actually yeah, I'm going to venture out and say that every gamer who would give Lair a glance (not the sports gaming casuals) has a subscription to some sort of videogame publication or another, and had read F5's comments about Lair being the definitive PS3 experience. The justificiation of the Sixaxis, and the overall savior of the system. How many features were done on this game before release? The hype was huge

Then they read their publication's review of Lair.

All excitement left.

Hour of Victory?

Never heard of it until release. BIG difference here. Truth be told, none of the 360's most hyped games have flopped, as a matter of fact the "saviors" of the 360: Bioshock, Halo 3, Gears, Forza, Oblivion, etc. etc. were all reviewed AAA by most everybody.

Reading that it can only be done on Blu-Ray makes you take a second look at it. Plus, its PS3 exclusive, and every PS3 exclusive so far has supposedly been using the power of Blu-Ray...although not 1 of them uses compression. You don't think Sony hasn't sent a few emails telling people what to say in order to make their games stand out? If not then you might be a little too far behind for anybody to help.

Now look at the quality of those 360 titles, only a small percentage are actually good. The ones that are good weren't even out yet in 360's first year. It was November before your first hit, GeoW, came out. About the same time of the year PS3 will get R&C and Uncharted.

The PS3 still doesn't have enough exclusives to beat what the 360 launched with what are you talking about there weren't good games out in the first year? The 360 is aimed at the broadest level which includes SDTV and HDTV, and launched with a 720p lifecycle standard. It was not designed to be a 1080p standard nor a audio 7.1 standard.

PS3 adopted both higher standards, putting it into a niche market and a higher price-point; the two going hand-in-hand. Sony then attempts to convince you of why both are needed...and are doing a poor job of that convincing.

Wii adopted the current 480 standard, and packaged a system aimed at playability and price point, not a future graphics standard.

Now, which console is kicking which console's a$$?

Like I said, PS3 strategy is not aimed at 90% of the market. The fact that Sony was so arrogant as to presume they could create a higher standard based on their brand is their problem.

So, to answer your question.

The Wii games are not in HD, and they are how much of the market? :)

The 360 games attempt to appeal to both, and in a 720p lifecycle standard (meaning many aren't even there yet) and they are how much of the market?

And the PS3? You can figure this one out on your own.

That might be true, I do think that MS made a mistake in not allowing devs to put things on the 360's HD, if people have a core they can upgrade *shrug*. But you've seen huge games for the 360 not have this issue (Oblivion didn't fill the disk for example) so its not like its a massive issue at the minute.

However, do you accept that the PS3 is a nightmare to program for and that it why we see devs talking about delays and inferior versions?

Umm....why did you quote me? I'm not a Lemming but I'll answer your question. DVD9 wasn't enough when they were making LAIR which "could only be done on the PS3" did you forget that? UT3 for the PS3 had to cut maps for reasons that that developing on the PS3 is horrendous, forgetting something there? How many games have come out on the PS3 whose developers claimed it could only be done with Blu ray have been better than 360 games? I'll answer that last one...NONE.

Because developers are shady as hell. Most pro 360 projects devs will say DVD9 is more then enough and most pro PS3 projects devs will say Blu-Ray is needed. Then you have Lair which said Blu-Ray was needed then you have Heavenly Sword which was really short supposivly also needing Blu-Ray.

Not to mention things like DMC4 can only be done on PS3 then it later can all of a sudden by the magic of god be ported to the 360.

Then you have devs like Ubisoft that say dumb stuff like their game can only run on 360.

All and all I don't trust these devs at all nor any other dev that says things like this. Any game on 360 can be built for PS3 and vice versa in some form or another. If Crysis is coming from PC to 360/PS3 then come on do I have to spell it out for you? Sure things might not translate 100% but its doable All they are doing it "Promoting their exclusive"

The Xbox 360 has 20 shooters according to Gamespot's list...6 of them are AAA.

I believe by and large they are ignoring that due to the hype on Heavenly Sword not having enough space. Developers are as much salesmen as anything when it comes right down to it, and a game hyped as being TOO TREMENDOUS for the competition builds up hype among their console owners (even if it is padded by multiple languages and uncompressed audio).

That's just an assumption on my part, mind you.

Personally, I've never seen the harm in multiple discs, assuming extra space wasneccessary. But then I've never really heard of an instance where it WAS really neccessary so far in this generation. What's more, until I see the finished ubergames, it's all smoke.

We've seen too many "ONLY POSSIBLE ON PS3" games go multiplat, sir.

Are you forgetting that Heavenly Sword is a 5-6 hour game? Are you forgetting that Lair sucks? Are you forgetting that Resistance uses no compression whatsoever? Are you forgetting that the PS3 version of Oblivion is missing content thats in the 360 version? Are you forgetting that the 360 version of GTA4 will have content that the PS3 version does not have?

What standard of HDTV and when?That is the question.

The answer is determined by the marketplace...the consumer. Not by Sony, Nintendo, or MS.

Right now the marketplace is kicking the crap out of the PS3, with the lowest resolution standard crushing all others.

The problem with being too future oriented in consumer electronics/technology is that you can easily relegate yourself to a niche market...which is OK, if that is what you want. I think he thinks that becouse most of the people that have a next gen console don't have a hdtv. Good hdtv's are expensive right now so it will take a while until the masses are convinced to get a hdtv until they drop in price. If the consoles were aimed at hdtv owners only sony and microsoft would have been out of the gaming bussines due to crap sales. So atleast think about it when you decide to post crap next time.

Right now the marketplace is kicking the crap out of the PS3, with the lowest resolution standard crushing all others.

The problem with being too future oriented in consumer electronics/technology is that you can easily relegate yourself to a niche market...which is OK, if that is what you want. The difference in sales between the 360 and PS3 isn't 360's ability to hit more SDTV owners. That is just a ridicluous statement.

They BOTH have HD games. Games made in HD that also happen to work on SDTV's. They BOTH have analog connections for SDTV owners. You are stretching alittle much.

360's sales are due to coming out early and getting a large user-base before the other two released. Plain and simple.

I hate how lemming bring up liar. it was a freaking DRAGON GAME for goodness sake's. what dragon game that is on a next gen system would ever get high praise and be good, this was just somthing for the devs at factor 5 to explore, and see if people liked. hs was a new ip game, and it was as solid as any other game, it was just to short for reviewers liking.

Too right!!! Technology will wait for no one!! If anyone out there still game on a standard TV that's your problem!! The HD generation has begun and it will just get better and better!! To deny that HD is needed you have to be narrow minded!! HD gaming is the future of gaming. For that reason a larger capacity disk is needed like blu-ray!!

You are right!! The PS3 is not doing as well as it should and that's just because 80% of people are narrow minded and they just don't care enough to do a little research....they just go into a gamestore and ask for the most popular thing even if it's crap!

7.1 yea....well not many people have that!! I still have a 5.1 home theater system but just go back about 5 years...5.1 was the WOW!!! Remember that?? 7.1 is out I think since 05 or even a little before. I myself will get a 7.1 home theater system next year because it's too expensive now....you'll have to spend about $2000 to get a decent system!! But it will come...just like HDTV's they are getting cheaper and cheapr by the month!! Hell there are HDTV's out there for $800! I got my 52" inch Bravia little more than a Year ago. I payed $5000 for it and look at it now $3499!! See how much it droped in just a year??? Next year it will be around $2000. And that TV is huge!! An Avarage person is statisfied with a 30" TV and you can get those for like $1000-$1500. Next year....there will be around $600-$1000.

There is no point to deny these things for there are true!! HD will come...people will buy it!! By 2010 I predict that about 80% of US households will have at least 1 HD TV!! and that's just 3 years form now!

People are quick to forget the Ps2 x Xbox battle. Technical superiority doesn't translate into game quality.

If the Ps3 userbase isn't big enough to hold exclusives, they will be downgraded and ported to 360, that's a FACT.

I hope ps3 sales pick up and devs start using blu-ray space advantage wisely, making games actually better, instead of just using super high quality audio, texture variety, 1080p videos and saying blu-ray is needed and 360 can't handle things.

This is the only way companies can afford to say Blu-Ray is needed. Actually taking the time to sit down and create an epic game is alot more costly than creating a 6 hour slug-fest, throwing some nice sound on a Blu-Ray, not compressing any of it, and releasing it. Devs don't have the resources to do what gamers want them to do with Blu-Ray.

Do you not understand therelationship between features and cost? The Wii costs a lot less in part because of the lower emphasis on graphics. The 360 costs somewhat less in part because it doesn't adopt as high a standard on video or audio.

These standards are core to the product strategy. People sit around in a room and decide what the standards are going to be for the product and that drives the component/building strategy. The PS3 adopted the highest standards. The Wii the lowest. But with the highest standards also comes the highest cost, and the price for that is Sony losing market share. The 360 is in between, but much closer to the PS3.

The unfortunate part for Sony is that few seem to value the extra features at extra cost which is why PS3 does not have a higher sales rate...thus they will never catch up. Instead, all the technical features garbage is just that garbage and the decision is being made on price and actual and predicted game libraries, not a spec sheet. Too bad for Sony.

Worse still and too bad for both Sony and MS, the market as a whole isn't even showing a great preference for HD at all. Apparently, that ranks less important than other factors....hmmmm...like fun and price.

The point of all this being your initial high handed and arrogant statement regarding who this generation of consoles is being directed at. Get over yourself and Sony. The market is deciding, not you.

Rockstar had problems developing the game for the PS3. So it was delayed. So thanks PS3...
