Looks like the developers just got a bit more moist. I can't even imagine what these console games are going to look like now.

Well most decent PC's now have at least 16 GB of RAM so maybe go to youtube or something?

So much power but so few games... 1 extra GB to watch YouTube and play 10 minutes of 360 games per month :P I'll pass...

@pinkanimal: That's odd. I swear I have a combination of over 160 games installed/ready to be installed on my X1. How many more do I need till the Xbox has games to play?

@Random_Matt: not sure if new ips, they'll probably have a couple of first party games but on PC and X1 too so Scorpio still feels kind of useless.

Just goes to show how much Microsoft has stopped R&D this generation to cut costs.

They're literally making this up on the fly. All their downsizing and conservation is showing badly at this point.

They're doing some great PR spin but anyone who knows what's going on internally knows this is smoke and mirrors.

Isn't 8gb plenty enough for 4k and upscaled 4k? They should have unlocked a new CPU instead.

I feel your pain. My powerful PS Pro is sitting here collecting dust. Well, I have been renting movies on it and playing games on Xbox One until we get some games. Greatness awaits.

I said there ARE NO GAMES for the PS Pro, so it is collecting dust. So I am playing games ONLY on my Xbox One S because it has games. Once PS Pro has games, I will play games on PS Pro AND on Xbox One S. Then, when Scorpio comes, I will play games on Scorpio AND on PS Pro.

All while playing PC exclusives on my Microsoft Windows 10 PC gaming rig.

@Random_Matt: my 3 year old laptop has 8gb so I don't think you need to spend a lot to have 9 these days.

@kvally: If you have games on your X1 you have them on PS4 since the X1 has no exclusives and for the few that aren't on PS4 they're on PC. So stop talking crap, you're just a sad troll without much brain.

You have to keep in mind, this is an APU design with a shared RAM pool across the CPU and GPU. An 8GB video card has enough RAM for 4K, but this isn't 8GB (well, now 9) for the GPU, it's 8 (9) for all game processing needs across the CPU and GPU. I'm making this number up since I don't know how to translate my PC resource usage to a more lean-running console setup, but one might guess we're looking at a range of 3-6GB video RAM on a 9GB setup depending on how the push-pull between CPU and GPU needs is playing out at the moment. Anyone else have thoughts on that?

Not that it matters but I suppose it will have about 7GB of GDDR5 RAM dedicated to its game and 2GB to its OS. Most mainstream GPU's have 2-4GB of GDDR5 VRAM.

I suppose the GPU will be sitting between a 980 and a 980 Ti which honestly is pretty damn good.

It's 9GB of GDDR5 RAM dedicated to its game, 3GB to it's OS. It was 8 for games and 4 for OS before.

Hopefully this means we will have Forza Horizon 3 at 60 fps but I don't want to bring up my expectations for that. It if happens cool, if not IIl take a big boost in graphics instead that's good enough for me.

16GB Ram is becoming a norm for most PC today and 8GB is showing it's age already.

Glad you finally figured out that games are what matters on a gaming system.

Problem is that gpu vram had to be shared with game cache with the memory pool so the gpu would never see more than 6gb. And would normally would see 4 or 5gb leaving 3-4gb for game cache. Now with 9gb available they can 4/5 or 3/6 type of ratio for vram. So gpu now can allocate higher quality textures then before.

@tigerbalm: overpriced Alienware but we like it.

Becoming the norm and being the norm is two different things. 8GB is standard and thats what is seen in the vast majority of systems and its not going to change in a hurry.

My bad. I meant becoming the norm as it is now. 16GB isn't expensive however.
