Haha I was waiting for these to start popping up.
@gordonfreeman: I think you are taking this conversation wayyyy too seriously. You know this is not an actual war ,right?
Yeah, it's a genocide.
@gordonfreeman: do you actually know the meaning of genocide?
"Genocide is intentional action to destroy a people in whole or in part."
@gordonfreeman: Definition of genocide
: the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group.
To compare games to genocide. Stay nya. Don't ever change.

You're adding a disambiguation to the word to make it appear as if it's synonymous with racial, political or cultural cleansing, it's not.
Genocide is largely associated with those things however it's not intrinsically linked to them, the word can be used completely disassociated from those things as I just have.
Nice attempt at trying to make that word appear as if it intrinsically tied to those things.
@gordonfreeman: I specifically like how you went to the lawyer definition of genocide. And not the actual definition. So that was nice. But anyway , I know better than to get wrapped up in a nya reply. Keep comparing games to genocide. Lol

I didn't go to a lawyer definition, I approached a word like many other words that are ambiguous without proper context. You're attempting to add a different context to the word to imply something sinister or hateful beyond the bounds of this discussion whereas the context I actually applied to the word entails the systematic destruction of the PlayStation community.
@pinkanimal:
I own nintendo switch ps4 pro xbox one s and pc with 1070 8gb i7 7700k 16gb ram (8x2).
Yet I find myself playing gears of war 4 on xbox one s. I like ranked matches more (xbox one controllers only and xbox one players only) but also most my friends play on xbox one so why would I go to pc if I want ranked (not social) and want to play with xbone friends?
Nintendo switch and ps4 pro are used mostly for exclusives (just like xbox one s since you cant play gears of war ranked on pc it is kinda exclusive and several other games that are exclusive too on xbox one).
And now the shocking truth. Yea pc graphics on ultra are better but not a universe better like people paint it. Its not an important difference in my book.
Well most decent PC's now have at least 16 GB of RAM so maybe go to youtube or something?
16GB Ram is becoming a norm for most PC today and 8GB is showing it's age already.
While i agree with you both, the ram in question here is not system ram which is what you commonly find on PC with 16GB,this is Vram 9GB is allot considering the Fury X has 4GB,and most strong GPU have 8GB.
System ram on Scorpio is particularly low compare to PC,it has 3GB which is low but ok since the xbox one isn't running 100% windows 10 from PC.
Its 3gb for OS and other features like streaming etc most likely. Which are completely locked off game wise.
This means only 9gb of v-ram gets used for games, which is a shared pool.
Most people have 16gb in there gamers pc right now, and atleast 6gb of v-ram card. The absolute minimum is 8gb ddr3 and 4gb v-ram for most current games. The sweet spot is 16gb 8gb
8gb and 4gb has already been the case for a long time now on pc platform that it's pretty much the minimum requirement.
The scorpio will have to split its pool.
This means for 4k resolution packs from doom which is already a bit older game wise, you need to reserve at least 6gb of v-ram. I'm sure there are already games out there that take up to 8gb of v-ram. And they eat also system ram with it ( 4gb ).
I would say with some optimizing 9gb of ram will do for current day titles. but nothing to future proof for sure, they would had to up it towards a bit more. But even then the system just isn't powerful enough to deliver much more i guess.
Also at the guy reported what memory gets used by a windows machine. There is no tool that showcases how much memory really is used as a bare minimum to run something, as the moment you got more memory in your PC setup, it will eat it up to cache game data. Which can make a 12gb v-ram card showcase 9gb usage, while a 6gb v-ram card shows 5gb usage. and both run perfectly fine.
Also the current high end gpu features 12gb v-ram, which you also can sli and with dx12 that could theoretically become 24gb. So that's kinda wrong about the 8gb version and the scorpio can't be compared towards it. As its shared memory while pc has it completely dedicatd.
The guy on twitter is right tho, if a game doesn't use the memory it can be used as cache which makes things faster and smoother all around.
@uitravioience: "tbh. Like most everyone else. We just walk past the Xbox isle. No offense"
Brutal! Flawless victory

@AzatiS:
So if you all playing the same game, what's the point of paying more to play the same game?
Listen how it goes !
I pay far less in a week or two from games release than a console user and im playing it with higher quality ! How that sounds ?
@AzatiS: Id love to agree with you. But both xbox one and ps4 have lots of sales just like steam. I got most of my games for 9 and 19€ each (brand new on physical store or digital on sales). Ocasionally I pay 29€ for a game and very rarelly 39 for recent games.
Just buy on sales (that happens all the time all over the place) and games will come out pretty cheap.
My 5 year old PC has 12GB of ram. 8GB system, 4GB VRAM.
People don't play on consoles for the cutting edge, they just want a competent console which the original PS4 is.
Also it's quite clear no developers are going to use this unified RAM the way I thought they were going to use it, I presumed they would do tricky shit like procedural generation of textures so you can add variations on textures so you get no repetition with minimal RAM usage and performance hit, but no.
Devs just program it like desktop PCs, if anything consoles take a performance hit due to the lack of optimisation for the specific architecture.
Such a turn around for PC gaming, it used to be the other way around.
And to think Microsoft will have 3 consoles on the market, Xbox One, Xbox One S (hardware upgrade), and now Scorpio. What a fragmented mess. No matter how good Scorpio is they will still have to make games to meet the minimum requirements of the Xbox One which is shit tier.
Although knowing Microsoft they will abandon the Xbox One in a year or two, that's the shit they are known for.
It's funny reading folks claiming 9GB isn't enough and is not future proof and compare console specs to PC when PC requirements from running the same game have typically overshoot console specs.
That because consoles run on lower setting comparatively. Devs are not willing to the put the effort in to support low end hardware with console style optimisations (lowering draw distance/AI and a mixture of textures between medium and high settings).
Whats the point in this push for 4k if you are gonna use shit textures.

LOL, wut? That is what they EXACTLY do for a living every day.
I hope they have some cash left for games..and didnt waste everything on hardware.
Also, the price should be right. I know its going to be a "premium" console, but a too high price and no games to back it up..it is going to be a lost case.

PC prices going down big time in first week or two compared to consoles. I never buy day 1 games except if its something im eager to play.
With that being said , i never said anything about sales days ! Just wait a week or two and PC prices going down big time and im not talking about STEAM store. There are other ways to get your cheap STEAM Keys ( or not STEAM ).
A small example i have to understand. I just did a search to preorder Farcry 5. I can find the Uplay version of the game for as low as 44$ and it keeps dropping while X1s version is stable at 54$ , thats already 10$ less. Now by the time game is out this difference will be even bigger while after 1 week or 2 the PC version might end up being almost half price compared to consoles.
So , cheaper deal PLUS the definite version ? I dont have to look elsewhere.
So while i wait for a week or two and paying less in the end , my PC giving me the best possible experience out of same version of games 95% of the time.
Lets be honest , everyone likes better to play the definite version of a game let alone when its being cheaper.

I'm not an expert in PC gaming, but how much a difference does it have over the PS4/Xone version of the same game.
9GB of ram is an uneven number and uneven number ram amounts lead to some terrible performance problems. that extra GB is probably horribly slow to access and barely usable by developers. its the GTX 970 all over again.
/talking out my backside.
more ram available for games is always nice. developers will find a use for it. then they will proceed to complain that the scorpio does not have enough ram because thats what they do :P. why on earth does the OS need 3 though? what is it doing? ok 4K assets for the UI is going to use more memory than the same UI at 1080P. but 3GB is still a fair whack of ram. what is it doing?
(same complaint for the PS4 and switch too of course. xbox is not the only one with this usage of ram).
It's Friday Cows get prepped.
Sunday comes and your little power Kingdom gets snatched away after having it for only 3 years.
You do know the PS5 of whatever it'll be called will probably be released within 3 years as well so it's not like Scorpio will hold the title of most powerful console ever for very long either.
I just love the wording people go batshit over.
its not "hey our OS/backend runs more efficiently now". its
"WE HAVE UNLOCKED AN EXTRA GIG FOR GAMING!"
It's definitely not huge news; it happens often during a consoles lifecycle. This was probably due to OS optimization or perhaps they added in some additional onboard memory for OS tasks like how Sony does for the PS4 / Pro. A 1GB of DDR3 is less expensive and should be good enough for a chunk of OS tasks.

ROFLMAO this is nothing like the 970 issue my friend! The 970 issue is perfectly stated right here from Tomshardware
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-geforce-gtx-970-specifications,28464.html
The Scorpios bus speed and how the GPU and CPU connects to the memory is set perfectly unlike the 970. So it doesnt make a shit how the memory is split up it is always at full speed and with full access. Sorry it doesnt make a shit if it is 11gigs, 9 gigs, 7 gigs the speed will always be the same.

If you wanna talk about platforms total costs , do the math when you playing over 10-15 games per year or more and youll see how cost effective is a mid-range PC that can easily stand next to consoles for 4-5 years. And i wont even mention how many free games , emu , back compatible etc games PC can offer more , its way better and free online , the lead platform because of controls in genres like RTS or FPS etc .

End user can legally convert retail Xbox One into dev mode and run non-Windows Store UWP apps e.g. emulators, home brew games and other apps. MS are encouraging indie devs with easier access to Xbox.

9 GB is spread across 12 GDDR5-6800 chips hence full access to memory bandwidth.
3 GB has shared apps, Xbox shell and OS.
970's 3.5 GB + 0.5 GB problem is due to SM being disabled hence it's link to 0.5 GB memory pool was cut, but Nvidia added a slow cross bar link to 0.5 GB via the working memory controller with active SM link.
Nvidia's problem has nothing to do with AMD APU's crossbar links.
AMD GPUs and APUs can have reduced CU count without compromising the memory controllers.

Wanna compare the amount of games a PC user can play vs an Xbox user as far as EMUs go ? Come on now ! Who in his right mind will end up buying a console that has all of its games on PC while of its games playing worse than a mid/low end PC because can convert X1 into dev mode and play some emus that PCs can play better. Ehmm Come on now.
A PC will always be ahead of PCs wannabes = consoles. Because PCs are the real deal consoles trying to copy hard the last decade.
Can't speak for consoles, but a common tactic on video cards (for PCs) is to slap on an extra GB or two of memory and call it an "extreme" edition and sell it for more; it's a way to dupe the customer into buying a weaker card simply because "bigger is better" when the truth is a different chip/faster clock would have been better than more memory.
Could this be what MS is doing? Or is this not the case?
