[QUOTE="mikasa"][QUOTE="Bgrngod"] [QUOTE="blaznwiipspman1"]so what they're saying is if i ever have the 3 red lights, they will replace my console for free and extend my warranty for 3 years?Bgrngod
No, what they are saying is that there is a new extended 3 year warranty for the 3 red light issue on ANY 360. Specifically for that issue only.
Any other problems, USB port issues, disk read errors, are under the old warranty.
This means that the 3 red lights issue is probably the major reason anyone sends in a failing 360.
Easy solution....just make your 360 get the 3red lights if you have other issues then send it in.
Well yes someone could go and wrap their 360 in a towel and try to artificially cause the 360 to die, but I would hazard a guess that the MS guys can spot characteristics of a "natural" 360 death vs. one that has been nuked by an owner. There may be some motherboard warping, or bracket breaking, or something, that is typical of a legitimately failed 360.
I doubt they even look for that. Heck you could probably just sayyou have 3 rings of death. They get it...send you a refurb and you're good to go. At worse they say it's fine send it back to you and you call back saying now my disk drive is broken (or whatever was broken in the first place).
Yeah it's not the most honest thing in the world, but neither is Microsoft's refusal to admit issues and extend warranties until AFTER their fiscal year closed.
